Having read and translated "VOYAGE" I have come to the conclusion that Adelino dos Santos Abreu has some fantastic ideas and his fertile imagination will eventually bring him to the level of some of the leading science fiction writers of today.

"VOYAGE" is essentially a book for youngsters and I have tried to keep the translation essentially in that perspective. The Portuguese version is in simple, precise, crispy sentences while in general run smoothly. I have tried to maintain this smoothness in the translation although at times it has been difficult. One or two words stymied me — "BOLOIDE" for instance — but what better new word in the English language can we have than "BOLOIDE!" Marvelous! Next time I have a party I’ll have boloides all over the room for decorations!

But back to the book! It is delightful and easy to read — perhaps — lacking in detail in certain moments but that in the style — I’m locking forward to Voyage II and to know war happened on Earth and what the beautiful Maravill’s Templeyn Towmmor is going to do!

Detail

This adventure was written by an adolescent who wanted to answer the question of flying saucers. In order to explain to himself and to those who might wish to know, he wrote this fiction book.

Within this subject, the story can be compared, by its contents, to those by Karel Kapek, Cliford Simak or even to A. C. Clark.

I received this manuscript to comment on which was extremely pleasant; because my enthusiasm for science fiction is incurable.

The work I did does not exist. It was not revision, but of ideas. In adolescent language, the relationship between time and space is equal, giving a curious result, be cause they combine in planes and sequences, producing an atmosphere vivid scenes.

This manuscript is valid for ideas which it conveys and by the author’s imagination. Apparently simple, the ideas challenge and deceive. It is essentially of substance, but its form

has mysteries: beginning by revealing a period of time, a way of thinking, an age,. But this. I leave to you to discover. If you want a lift.

PREFACE

 A friend, a surprise

 I have known Adelino dos Santos for two years. For me, he was always Ghaba, a guy who loves video, who, long before many people noted the importance of this midia, had already brought to Brazil thousands of different video-cassettes and today he is a successful businessman in the video rental field. He knew about his enthusiasm for video and his natural capacity for telling stories. Several times, when I went to OMNI to pick up tapes, we have gone to have a coffee and he has fascinated me with his stories of travels, filmings, his plans and dreams.

Suddenly, I receive a manuscript: VOYAGE. Surprise! Ghaba is also an author. And of science fiction. "It can only be", I thought, after analysing some of our talks and his irremediable passion for "videotronics". And this is not his first book. Since he was 12, his mind was filled with stories, the boy Adelino was already publishing his books and novels. There are dozens of them. This one, which I have just read, VOYAGE, perhaps is the most courageous, an attempt to crea te a romantic biography about the young Wakanerefy and his adventures in the XXI century.

Ghaba is spontaneous in what he thinks and writes. And reading his work happens this way too. He explains that, as he writes, "the facts unravel themselves, almost beyond my will". After all, is not this the begining of the act of devulging or telling a story or of writing one?

The contact with the Ghaba's imagination was an agreable surprise. I hope you enjoy this book with pleasure.

VOYAGE (Introduction)

Once upon a time, a being as his ideal creates the Universe.

Now, I share the ideas of this creation with everyone.

The materiality of this book raised a reality that even I could not imagine. The facts developed on their own. Almost beyond my will. And became concrete in two dimensions: in the book as a story and in me as second reality.

Science explains this duality, but nothing explains why millions of brain cells can create worlds and generate realities; like this, for example.

Reality is a dimension; there are others, inside of each of us. It remains to be know in which we must live. And I ask myself, up to what point, did I do this myself and up to what point was it done through me?

What it is, is there. I am only sure that it was from the febrile movement of my fingers. The other questions, answer yourself.

The Author - 1966

 

1. THE MAIN CHARACTER

Fiction and concrete space is generated as we travel the fantasy of space/time at the surprising speed of imagination and reasoning.

The world is the unknown and, in the depth of the picture, little by little, the strangest planet of the Universe unfolds: The Earth, the start of this story.

The time and the date: 2 p.m., of October 16th, 1993.

In the transparent atmosphere of the scenery that drew near, a trivial scene: the fall of the first artificial rain drops. The time went by and the rain, soft washed the exotic city of Weikkow 1.742 Enylow, up to 4 p.m., then it stopped punctually.

The approximation magnified in detail the image on the video screens and, to the south of the city, the modern maternity of Wayjenhow grew clearer. At that moment, a child was born there, of male sex, who was baptized with the name of Wakanerefy Templeyn Towmmor.

His father, Hokerh Tempekery Towmmor, a little know scientist at the beginning of his career, worked in the World Scientist Center, or WSC which everybody knew.

His wife, Georhely Kennery Towmmor, was designer in astronautical engineering. She administrated her husband’s work and though that he would made fantastic discoveries soon.

Hokerh, a dedicated scientist, always involved with his researches, neglected, because of that, his home and family. However, he believed that with time he could modify his situation and be together with them again.

 

2. THE BIRTH OF A DESTINY

After some days, Wakanerefy was taken to his house, some fifty four kilometers to the north of Senktoweed city 14 714 Kinkow. In the lovely city of Eringhow 14 643 Wankin, there is a sophisticated district of Bertasawn 14 652 Townoty. It has giant buildings, appraised with houses of hypermodern architectonic models and an unknown number of magnificent subterranean dwelling conglomerates, automatically controlled by electronic stations, called Hibertawn.

Delightful trees adorn and extend along all the streets and avenues, with their golden reflection form the metallic floor, giving a dazzling vision of a modern city. All this brought together by nature and man, resulting in an almost diving picture of color.

Looking at the sky you can see an almost infinite quantity of birds. They look like small points of live mixing with the ceiling of heaven.

The night comes slowly and makes the silence arrive. The birds gathered to their cosy nests and await another day.

With the passing of the hours, the first sun rays appeared. All the birds woke up and flew off to the horizon, to receive with their songs the king star, accompanied with all its true magnitude, together with its color still covered by the early mist.

And here on Earth, everybody hoped for happier days and that the future of mankind would be in all, more promising.

In the Towmmor’s family. Wakanerefy first birthday was being celebrates. Famous personalities and officials of WSC were present at the ceremony.

At this age, Wakanerefy began to take his first footsteps, with short paces and a lots of falls. Only when he was thirteen months old his footsteps became firm and secure.

At this stage, more than ever. Georhely was missing her husband. Everything indicated that he could live without the comfort of a home, without his wife and son, dedicating himself entirely to science, The more important was to live most of the time in the WSC, his true home, the place that he stayed and nearly all the time. He let weeks and months go by without coming back to his home and wold even forget, sometimes to write to his wife.

All this was sufficient cause for Georhely to be by herself abandoned for long periods to loneliness in her matrimonial life, but she bravely faced her arduous desires and shut them up inside her. And all the compensation was in front of her: her son.

To keep this perfect balance, she was confident that all her anguish would came to an end, because inside her, her female intuition told her and seemed to say softly:

"Georhely, let things run in the normal way, do not be afraid, because Hokerh is on the way to a great discovery. Thus you have only to wait the natural development of the facts in this respect’.

Georhely trusted her insight faithfully and, anxiously awaited the good news. Although, she imagined that something could go wrong: the better solution was to the calm and to be optimistic.

It was in this environment of a certain insatisfaction that Wakanerefy lived and, at five years old he received from his father the first one of a sequence of chemistry and scientific research kits. Wakanerefy Thanked his father emotionally and, before putting it away, he said, confidently and with an angelical smile on his lips:

‘I will be a great scientist and I will have many successes... you will be a witness to my words in the future.’

Hokerh listened with great admiration, he felt impressed with his son’s hard conviction and felt proud of him, Therefore, everything indicated that Wakanerefy’s intention for the future, would be to follow his father’s footsteps and be a dedicated and resolute scientist.

Wakanerefy, cautiously, took the gift to his room and, there he hid it away with care, to avoid anybody finding it and, with it, some of his father’s schematic drawings, intending to use them in the future; perhaps some day they would be useful.

The time continued to go by and Wakanerefy’s intelligence was developing very well, obviously motivated by the way he was being brought up: a healthy and educated environment and a mutual respect amongst everybody that was consistent of that private society in the district. The society was used by everybody for the purpose of discussing problems that troubled the big city. This entity contributed to the existence of a better confraternization amongst everyone.

The children, in general, were almost all of the same age and liked adventures very much and, constantly played their games in the programmed spaces for children’s entertainment, in a place called Muflayer, where they stayed almost everyday and did not notice the sunset. They usually ran daily championships and the winner’s prize, was always some object of little value. Quarrels amongst them were infrequent.

Wakanerefy was now six and would have to forget a little of the daily entertainment and dedicate more time to his studies.

On entering school, he was enrolled in the normal scholastic cycle. However, he was soon transferred to a more advanced period, for a better exploitation of his capacity,

recognized by a special commission and granted by the school headmaster, of the city Enringhow 14 643 Wankin.

In the long run, Wakanerefy demonstrated an admirable intelligence. His grades were equal to a normal students, but his imagination was exceptional.

Wakanerefy had very good luck in not having to repeat any of the school terms. He hardly ever studied, but on the other hand, he had a great facility in learning and recording all the lessons, helped by his rapid reasoning.

In this environment, everything contributed so that his parents felt proud of him as he as he was revealing talents in and out of school.

When he was nine years old, he was surprised by his father in his bedroom, who smiling said:

‘good morning my son.... happy birthday to you! Now, wake up and come and see your present. I hope you like it, but well.... over there in the backyard.... it is well hidden’.

Happy, Wakanerefy went to his father and kiss him affectionately and answered: ‘Ah... over in the backyard?.... so, something strange.... and it must be in the laundry, because for about one week it has been locked and, as much as I tried, I didn’t find the key’...

‘You have only noticed this now!.... you silly!.... you did not realize that your birthday was coming soon?’

They both went to the laundry and there Hokerh insisted on creating a little suspense; at the right moment, unexpectedly, he opened the door and Wakanerefy saw in front of him an immense and fabulous laboratory such as he always dreamed.

Fascinated and amazed, he walked slowly examining that fantastic gift. While he was looking at everything minutely, Hokerh said to him: ‘My soon, once upon a time you made a promise to me which I will never forget. Thus, this is my contribution.... it is all yours and I hope you make good use of it...’

In seeing the idea of his old dream materialized, he looked slowly at his father’s vigorous face, ran to meet him and, crying with happiness he said to him sobbing:

‘Thank you.... thank you very much, Daddy... I will never forget you and.... all the help you have given me.... and I hope someday to repay you’.

‘Do not cry.... my son.... because the time will come when we will work side by side’.

‘Yes, the great day is still to come when we both will fight in benefit of the same ideal, for the good of all...’

‘Be it so.... now there is no more reason for this crying’.

‘All right.... ah.... and when you need my laboratory. It is at your disposal as from now’.

‘Thank you,.... I will be using it, as soon as I can....’

‘But daddy, you promise that you will not use it very much, don’t you?’

‘Ok, knowall! seeing that you make so much of it, I will not abuse its use’.

‘Ah! but you will do me a little favor won’t you?’

‘Well.... it depends on the little favor....’

‘A.... it is not too much just a little something every now and again to buy some complementary items’.

‘All right you little devil.... I will send you a some money every week’.

‘Great, I like your capitalistic power very much, especially with me.’

‘Well, if you continue to be an understanding and dedicated son, mainly with your mother, you could in future receive more unbelievable gifts’.

‘Good, I accept any kind of contract with you, I think that everything is all right. Once more, Thank you.

Hokerh went out and left his son demitting.

‘Good gracious!.... who would say.... this, finally is mine. Perhaps it will come to make the other planets creatures envious.... hum.... may be not, but.... who knows if it’s not true?

He looked attentively at the equipment. Little by little, loosing his fear, he approached and, with care, touched it, trying to understand its function and utility, because all of it, at beginning, was rather complicated for his understanding.

Presently, his father came back and, with extreme patience, explained to him the practical and scientific uses of all the equipment. He guided him respect to the use of the chemical and electronic equipment to avoid a risk of accidents.

Following, he taught him all about the system against fire and theft and when to turn it on and off.

In the afternoon, Wakanerefy rang up his close at friends. Inviting them to his birthday party, taking the opportunity to tell them about his present.

By the tone of his voice, his friends noticed his happiness that overflowed form him; he seemed like a child who had just won the big lottery.

Later, when Wakanerefy had already finished his list of calls, and took the opportunity of his parents’ absence  and went to the laboratory.

Wakanerefy, with little experience at present of the new chemical elements, foreseeing trouble, put them in a little thin lead pot and closed it with care.

With his little experience and knowledge, he concluded that such a mix could result in a small explosion, only he had no idea of the reaction potency.

Now the time arrived for the practical side. With the pot in hand, he went to the yard, chose a place and threw the thing on the floor with all his strength.

The result was unexpected and wonderful: a uncommon explosion and, by little, Wakanerefy nearly lost his life. His luck was the distance. He was a little more than seven meters from the explosion place which was sufficient to save him from death.

With a big shock, Wakanerefy stroked his forehead with his hand in relief as nothing had happened to him.

He only remembered the big explosion and a dense white cloud that covered his sight for some second and little by little dissolved in the air, until it disappeared completely.

Wakanerefy stood happy and at same time worried, because he had discovered so powerful explosive. The more serious problem was that is was too sensitive a mix and it was prudent to alter it to a weaker and less dangerous formula.

He began to think how to handle it in a safer manner. Determinedly, he looked for a book on home-made detonators, set off by mechanical action or remote control. When he found it, he read it attentively.

He soon come to the conclusion that two kinds were indicated for this case. The first, was an electric detonator and the second one, operated by pressure. He thought of doing experiments with a more adequate use of these on another occasion.

His intensive nervousness was, little by little, giving place to a new happy spiritual state, which he felt by this new discovery. Added to this, he decided not to worry himself by this incident, because nothing had happened to him.

As he looked at the extremely large stain on the floor, he felt proud of himself; it was the first time in his life that he felt the pleasure of having something defensive at his disposal, without having to use his body.

To record the memory of the unforgettable moment, he remembered his video-camera, which, by chance, was still loaded with virgin tape.

He went up to his bedroom and came back setting the programming of the equipment. From the beginning of the filming he did not tire of taking shots from new and various angles.

When he finished, he picked up detergent and other cleaning materials and began to remove the large stain, because if someone saw it, he would be in trouble and it would cause a lot of controversy.

At the end of the cleaning, he put away everything in its due place, picked up his video-camera and went up to his bedroom. Then, he sit down in front of the writing-table, pulled out the research diary and described in full details, his recent experiment.

In the evening, before his first guests arrived, he resolved to make one more bomb, with which he would enjoy himself frightening his friends.

In the laboratory, he started to work on the weight and percentage of the ingredients. On finishing, he put it in the drawer 43, taking all the necessary care to avoid new surprises.

The Videotrans rang. Wakanerefy locked the laboratory door and ran to the main room, but his mother answered it first.

Wakanerefy could not hear, because his mother was using the system earphones, but, by the size of the image, he recognized the face of his neighbor Tatilow.

The conversation covered a denunciation by the servants of a large exposition, followed by a big cloud of white smoke, coming from the back of Georhely’s house.

Wakanerefy approached his mother and without suspecting anything, asked her:

‘What is Tatilow telling you?’

Georhely did not answer and continued the talk normally. Wakanerefy, frustrated, asked her again and again. But it was no good; he did not get an answer.

On turning off the Videotrans and putting away the headphones, Georhely quickly caught her son’s ears and asked, angrily:

‘Very pretty, you pest.... now you are going to have explain about the explosion this afternoon, during my absence....’

‘How did you know?’

‘Tatilow had just advised me’.

‘Well.... I.... simply.... invented a little bomb during a new experiment, but I oversetting a little on the mixture and the result was a little too strong.’

‘I see.... very interesting.... but, see you don’t blow up the whole district next time!

Contrary to his thoughts, his mother accepted the explanation. Taking advantage of the occasion, he asked her a favour:

‘Since you know all about it, I would ask you not to tell anything to Daddy, otherwise, the things will not go well for me!’

Georhely, realizing her son’s delicate situation, answered:

I promise not to tell your father, more so today.... your birthday.’

Later on, when the guests began to arrive. Wakanerefy was with Antwood, one of his best friends.

‘That’s it, Antwood, this is my idea and it can be used tonight. And it’s you I need most because that way it will go alright. And understand, this is important: only after I turn off the room lights.... must you throw the little pot, which is in the drawer 43, on the floor. And don’t forget, throw it a minimum distance of eight meters from you, ok?’

‘That’s ok, I think!...’

‘Well, here is the key, partner.... ah!.... when you’ve thrown it, run over to the others, so they will not discover who threw it.’

‘Wakanerefy, count on me, I am not afraid, I’ll do everything the way you have told me and we will give the gang a great fright.

And nothing is going to happen to us, because nobody will be able to prove whether it was you or I. They will be singing happy birthday at the time.

Then the time came for Wakarefy to join his guests and blow out the candles. He turned to Antwood and said:

‘Good luck.... friend....’

‘Thank you, and happy birthday to you. And don’t forget to eat my slice of cake, ok?’

‘Don’t worry, I will.’

Wakanerefy afterwards, ran to the room and, among his friends, he met his cousin Paosy who said:

‘Waka! now it’s about time you pulled yourself together and improve your appearance, the show is going to start soon, so hurry up.’

‘Right. Tell mummy to prepare everything. I’ll be at the table soon. I have only to change my clothes and comb my hair!’

‘That’s right, but don’t take too long. its for today!’

‘Oh! don’t pester me, little cousin.’

He climbed the stairs to his bedroom and dressed himself. After, he went down to the garden, inviting everybody to come in before singing happy birthday. They all ran to the room and waited for the birthday boy.

At this stage everyone was interested in participating and curious about the surprises. Wakanerefy was worried about what he had told to Antwood. He wondered whether he had given all the necessary instructions: maybe yes, maybe not; this was that worried him, but he hoped that he had said everything, because there were some details of great importance, which couldn’t be forgotten, such as to return the laboratory and drawer keys.

Moreover, he had to wait for the facts to unravel. And what if something happened to his friend? The responsibility would be his. So, there was no other alternative, except to wait the results, good or bad.

Wakanerefy, still a little confused, went along to the ceremony. Meanwhile, passing by

his friends and colleagues, felt their love and kindness and began to feel sorry and regretted what he had arranged with Antwood; but unfortunately, there was no more time left. His mother had just called him to blow out the candles.

In this atmosphere, all the children and the adults, crowed around, trying to get a better place and preparing themselves for the great moment.

Georhely, in front of the table, locked for Hokerh and when she found him, said:

‘Dear... could you please turn off the lights and put the system in action?.... Surprise!’

With the room in darkness, Georhely drew back and with a slight touch on a small instrument that she held in her hand, all of a sudden made a cylinder, which was in the center of the cake, started a fantastic electronic show.

The people were amazed by the richness of the colors and effects which dominated the whole environment; of the screens phrases and geometric drawings appeared, all in a incredible speed, mixing and mingling with themselves. Thousands of light rays of several colors, drew curves, lines and many other things on the screen. Their ecstatic looks followed the stroboscopic effect of all paraphernalia and the infinity of colors moving from one side to the other, going up and down, with the color shades presenting scenes of rare beauty all the time.

Nobody said a word: one heard only groans and unintelligible sounds, such was the reigning visual and auditory climax. The effect ended with Wakanerefy’s own image projected in third dimension in third dimension in the center of the show, with colored words spread round 360 degrees, congratulating him.

Slowly, the intensity of the lights and effects diminishing and Wakanerefy merged with his own image. Georhely pressed another button and strong blue light flashed, as if by magic, lighted as if it did not exist.

Fascinated and amazed, they cheered several times and started to sing happy birthday.

Suddenly, there was a great explosion and the party spirit finished. Silence terrified the atmosphere. Wakanerefy stopped smiling and his face grew worried, because the intensity of the sound was bigger than foreseen; but how to explain the reason for such a powerful noise?...

Pale and his body shaking, he ran to the laboratory, passed his father, who was stopped by the people asking a dozen of questions. Georhely asked everyone to be calm, as there was no reason to panic. But, she knew that the noise had left everyone frightened.

Wakanerefy, even so, was the first to arrive, he went in and frowned, not seeing any sign of Antwood. Enormous amount of fragments spread all over the place. Apessimistic feeling took possession of Wakanerefy, his sense of guilt grew. He ran to the room because as combined, Antwood should have mingled with his friends.

Hokerh managed, verbally, to get rid of the people who surrounded him and went to the laboratory. When he arrived, he saw Wakanerefy, who saying he was sorry, continued running in desperation. His father was surprised at his attitude, but he did not give much importance to it and entered the laboratory to find out the reason for the explosion.

When Wakanerefy arrived in the room, to his surprise, he did not find Antwood anywhere. And when he went out, he again me his cousin Paosy, who asked him:

‘Waka, what happened to your cat Ketty? I have not seen her for a long time... has she disappeared?...’

‘I’m sorry I don’t know!... and, anyway, you have nothing to do with my cat, ok?’

Paosy, surprised with his cousin’s rough answer, said:

‘I’m sorry Waka, I didn’t want to hurt you with so such a little thing. Besides, it’s none of my business!’

‘I’m sorry, I was rude to you, Paosy. Sorry to have answered you this way, I am a little nervous!’

‘Why Waka?’

‘I dont’t know, perhaps for no reason.’

‘Nobody gets nervous for nothing. I think there must be something strange behind your impatience, dont’t you?’

‘Maybe yes, maybe no...!’

‘Ok, Waka, I’m not going to do any more questioning. I have nothing to do with your cat, but I Think that it must been frightened by the noise and run away...’

‘Thank you for your opinion, but if you want to do me a favor, leave me alone, ok?’

Wakanerefy continued to look for his friend. While he searched the house, his father did the same in the laboratory, looking for the causes. With him, was his nephew Aloffins. Suddenly, he noticed the lack of a glass of inflammable mixture from shelf 15. This shortage was sufficient for Hokerh to make his conclusions, as he examined carefully the stains spread on almost all the floor and walls. Now he only required to know what had made the glass fall. Fortunately, it did not take long, he found the final proof when he noticed a cat, in very bad state, behind the electric transformer: everything now was clear.

Hokerh finished the inspection and came back with Aloffins to the party, without saying anything to anybody about what he dad seen. On the other hand, Wakanerefy, already desperate, continued looking for his friend and, dark thoughts came to his mind, ending up with tears in his eyes, feeling the weight of the guilt for the possible death of his faithful friend.

Hokerh, intrigued, was looking for his son. When he had found him, Wakanerefy ran in this direction and begin to cry. His father, impressed, asked him:

‘Why are you this away?... what is wrong?...’

‘Nothing is wrong with me, I am sad because of Ketty; she has disappeared... I can’t find her anywhere!’

‘Yes... she really has disappeared...!’

Wakanerefy, in the end, admired his excuse, using his cat as the cause of his anguish.

Hokerh understood his son’s problem and to avoid shocking him about Ketty’s death, said:

‘Nevertheless, this is no reason for crying. Perhaps Ketty is spending the night with her friends, in the same way that you are doing now and, tomorrow, if she doesn’t turn up, them... we will go and look for her, and a small cat family also!’

Wakanefy, at this, made a bit of a show and wiping his face, answered:

‘Yes, perhaps this is it. I hope nothing has happened to her.’

‘Of course, you’ll see what I said is true...’Hokerh, at his stage, felt how difficult it was to lie to his son, because he knew very well that Ketty did not exist anymore. He was anxious, and for this he did not brother him and, also wanted to avoid shocking him even more.

Wakanerefy, after some time, stopped crying and thanked his father and continued to look his friend.

Everything was running in an atmosphere of insecurity until one of the guests, Chakkes, stood up on a table and spoke with loud voice for everyone to hear.

‘Please... pay attention... at least be a little more understanding. It was nothing but a well planned gimmick to frighten us; they managed to do it, but this is no reason for us to stay put like statues; let’s be sports, let’s all collaborate and make tonight the most successful and unforgettable birthday party for our dear Waka!’

At the end of his speech, he jumped from the table and turned on all the audio system at the maximum volume. At the sound of the hit tunes, Waka slowly got his enthusiasm back, which was already spreading to everyone and shortly the atmosphere became happy and free again.

The rowdiest group, lead by Chakkes, were provoking humour and happiness. Thus, chuckles and laughter could be heard again in the house. The children went back to playing with electronic games, and watched the screen... Chakkes amused his group imitating personalities of the artistic and political world. The adults joined in with them, forgetting the incident and the party was reaching its highest point.

Mekko, Chakke’s brother, later went to his house to pick up several video micro-tapes. He wanted to show the latest success to his friends from the top-hit musicals to the best interplanetary travel adventures.

When Mekko came back, he divided his gang in several groups; finally, the ones who wanted to watch video had to go up to Wakanerefy’s room and those who didn’t, were left to their own devices as long as they did not try to annoy them.

The happy atmosphere predominated the scene. On the other hand, Wakanerefy continued to be separated from all and everyone; he was in the opaque glass passage, close to the garage. He walked backwards and forwards on the glass floor, sad and lonely, looking for his friend.

Suddenly, walking in the direction of the front of his house, Wakanerefy saw a vehicle approaching and, fearing that it might be Antwood’s parents, he tired to hide behind an opaque glass plate. He watched. He saw two people get out of the vehicle and saw that they were the parents of his lost friend; he crawled along the glazed floor until he arrived at the garage entrance, and there he stood waiting for things to happen. The door-bell rang: Wakanerefy got worried because he thought that they had come to pick up Antwood; due to this unexpected situation, muddled in his mind and because of it, he decided to stay hidden a little longer, until they went away.

Actually, things were very different to what Wakanerefy was thinking. Churyn, Antwood’s father, with two keys in this hand, said to Hokerh:

‘We came hare to give back these keys, because my son asked me to deliver them to you, or to Wakanerefy. Unfortunately, Antwood felt ill and went home. My wife and I were worried about it, thinking that perhaps my son had not advised anyone about his sudden disappearance and, so as not to cause problems, we came to deliver the keys.’

Hokerh, attentively, listened to everything and answered:

‘Thank you very much. How is your son feeling now?’

‘Fortunately, very well. There is no need to worry about him. He is improving. He is recuperating quickly and must be sleeping by now, protected by the electronic center which, in case of worsening, will take steps to correct the problem or give the alarm. I believe that tomorrow he will be better and, with medical care soon be fit again!’

‘Well... thank God! that all is well. To commemorate your son’s recovery, please come in and have a drink with me!’

They went in and stayed a long time. Meanwhile, Wakanerefy, from the garage, by chance, saw a married couple leaving and immediately imagined it was Antwood’s parents. He decided to go up to his mother’s room, to give the impression that been resting for a long while. He knew nothing about Antwood, and then an idea to his mind.

‘How long will you have to lie and run away from yourself?...’

Wakanerefy was surrounded by uncertainties and carried the fear of guilt with him for what had happened to his friend.

Before going up the stairs, he stood quietly for some minutes; admiring the others enjoying themselves, free of any worries and he, because of a stupid prank, carrying an unsolvable problem.

He began to climb the first steps sheen he was interrupted by a boy who asked him:

‘Wakanerefy, why don’t you come and play with us?... let’s go!...’

‘No... thank you... I’m sorry, I’m not felling too well, may be next time, ok?’

‘Not at all... I’ll look for someone who wants to. I hope you get well soon.’

Wakanerefy continued up the stairs and, to complicate the situation, he met his parents together with Antwood’s. A little worried and awkward, excused himself and ran quickly, entering his mother’s room, his muddled brain thinking"

Antwood’s parents here at my house! It is obvious that they are looking for Antwood! The terrible moment has arrived... what shall I do now?’

The two couples went down the stairs when Hokerh, again was struck by his son’s attitude, suspecting that he was worried about something other than Ketty’s case. He excused himself and climbed the stairs to his wife’s room.

He opened the door slowly and heard someone crying softly. He went in quietly and, when he was near Wakanerefy, he tried to start up a conversation, but, his son did not hear a word.

To Hokerh, it all seemed very mysterious: everything indicated that the problem which troubled his son was not very simple. He thought that perhaps Ketty’s disappearance had disturbed Wakanerefy’s emotions.

‘By chance, my son, isn’t it because of Antwood that you are like this? Don’t worry, he felt ill and went home...’

When Wakanerefy heard this marvelous news from his father, he almost did not believe and emotionally said:

‘Please, repeat each one of those words!’

‘I didn’t say anything important. I only commented that if your trouble was because of Antwood, you can forget it, because of this his parents came here to tell us and I invited them to stay...’

While his father was speaking, his words had the sweetness of honey, they were like a big gift to Wakanerefy. And Hokerh continued saying:

‘To conclude, the actual cause of the explosion, unfortunately, was... Ketty...’

‘Ket... Ketty!... what does she have to do with this story?’

‘Please, shut up and pay attention?... Ketty, searching for food, went into your laboratory... jumped up on one of the shelves and there knocked over a tube of explosive material. With the fall of the tube, she suffered the worst. The rest you already know!’

Wakanerefy, then, felt tremendously relieved. Finally the solution! He secretly knew the real reason. However, he felt the loss of his cat Ketty very much.

With everything cleared up, he took a relieved breath and was ready for other adventures. He imagined:

‘Yes... another gone by... Phew!... nearly!...’

His good feeling had come back, and this time, with full force. He laughed at himself to think that all this time he had lived a monstrous nightmare, caused by himself. He accepted the idea that everything had been just exaggeration on his part.

Then, while Wakanerefy was arguing in his mind, Hokerh handled the keys to him saying:

‘Just remember, none of the laboratory keys must be left on the floor. Don’t create further problems with your carelessness.’

‘Yes, sir, probably through carelessness on my part, they fell out of my pocket, but I promise to take better care and I’m sure it won’t happen again.

Wakanerefy, still relieved, thanked him for the good news and, thereupon, went into the bedroom. He asked forgiveness for interrupting the video session, picked up a micro-video tape and said to everybody:

‘I am sorry, but I have come here to invite you to watch a real show in half-an-hour’s time. I am counting on all of you to be present,’

Wakanerefy heard some comments that seemed to indicate that they were curious about what the unknown great show could be, and left the room.

Going downstairs, he met Berin, another cousin and said:

‘Berin, I’m going to need your help to give a surprise to the people. In half an hour. I want you to be ready. Can you help me?...’

‘Of course I can Waka, whatever it is, I’m with you!’

‘Thanks Berin,... I knew that I could count on you. Now, please, pay attention!... I’m going to stay here in this room: meet me in front of the laboratory in fifteen minutes.’

‘Alright, I hope that your plan, this time, will be a success!

‘Interesting!... I hope so too!’

Both touched hands and, each went his own way. Wakanerefy turned towards the audio and video controls and put on his favorite micro-tape. Then he asked to await a few more minutes.

During the excitement, Wakanerefy danced the Tranny with his friends; the craze of the electronic youth. Now he felt the taste of enjoying himself without worries.

Berin, at the predetermined moment was already waiting. Wakanerefy arrived, they talked for a while. After that, they went into the laboratory and, with his cousin’s help, they made up for lost time.

They went out together, carrying a big wooden box, and was it heavy! they decided to put it on a little wheeled turkey.

Theywent towards the garden and, on the other side of the swimming pool, they set up several devices, filled with lots of small cardboard tubes. After that, they installed various numbers of wicks and, joined them to a master which, which would be used to start show.

The last check-up was done; everything was correct and there was nothing wrong with the combinations. Then, they went back to the big room. Wakanerefy put on his micro-tape to show a live report, made in Mars, with a group of astronauts and scientists from almost every point of the globe. When the tape was reaching the end, Wakanerefy ran to the garden to light the fire.

When everybody had arrived, Wakanerefy asked to stand back a little from around the swimming pool and said:

‘Well... as promised, you will now have the opportunity to watch a space pyrotechnically exhibition... Here goes!... one... two... three... fire!’

It started with display of fireworks. Again, a new show of natural colors and incredible movements, mixing with the reflections from the swimming pool water and with the green, which gave a special image to the vegetation. The electronic music, coming from the back, produced an atmosphere of an unknown world.

Finally after hundreds of big bangs, the show came to an end, leaving the ashes spread on the floor as reminders. Amazed at the happy ending, the guests left the party.

When there was nobody left, Wakanerefy ran to see his presents which he had not had time to open. He unpacked them, one by one, and found something which fascinated him: a long-range telescope.

Excited, he quickly went up to his bedroom and did not waist any time; he set up the telescope carefully and, when finished, he remained a long time the stars of the Universe.

The moon was there, as near an ever. He had the clear impression that with one of his hands he could touch its sandy surface. After, he looked for the larger and smaller planets. Then, he noticed that something new was born inside him; an interest which would, gradually, increase with the passing of time.

Hokerh passed his bedroom and when he saw him in this celestial mood, said:

‘Wakanerefy, sorry... but, actually it is a little late. You’d better sleep, after all, today was a very full day. Tomorrow night you can continue admiring the stars!’

‘Ok... I was only taking a look. Good night, Daddy!’

‘Good night, my son... see you tomorrow; dream of Neptune’s Angels.’

Hokerh kissed his son on the face and went away. Wakanerefy put on his pajamas and, when he had finished brushing his teeth, he went back to his bedroom, lay down and, before sleeping, remembered to give a special name to this day full of adventures, surprises, emotions... he chose Kettyblim.

While still waiting for sleep, he continued thinking of the marvelous things he had seen in Sidereal Space and a new dream appeared, that one day knowing the Universe and them he fell asleep.

The following day, after breakfast, Hokerh went to the laboratory to finish cleaning up the chemical remains, still spread over the room. He started with the floor, after, cleaned all the drawers and opening one of them, he found behind a little box of test tubes, a small lead pot, and when he looked at it closely, he noticed how carefully it was made. Suspicious, he opened it. When he saw the color and the smell of its chemical mixture, he realized the danger. Walking to the tap and with care he washed way the risk of a further explosion which could have been activated by heat, rubbing or shock.

As soon as he was awake, Wakanerefy was told on the internal communication system to go to the laboratory as quickly as possible. Wakanerefy, worried, dressed and thought up a lot of excuses.

When he arrived, he saw his mother as well as his father. He soon saw that they both were angry. Hokerh picked up the little pot and walked towards Wakanerefy until he was in front of him. Then, he raised his right hand in front showing him the explosive saying a word.

Silence dominated the environment; suddenly, it was broken by Hokerh, who asked:

‘With whom did you learn to make such powerful explosives?’

Wakanerefy, still frightened, eyes on his father’s eyes, decided to tell the whole story. He took a little time to get up courage, but, finally, emotionally started to describe everything.

At the end, when he had finished the story, Hokerh said to him:

‘Well... I believe you and, because of that, you are forgiven but next time take more care with your experiments and do not do them only for fun, but also to learn, especially if you want to be a scientist.

‘Yes sir, in future I’ll take more care...’

‘Hokerh, with a serene air interrupted:

‘None of this taking more care in the future but take it as from now!...’

‘Alright... it was only an expression... said without thinking, don’t need to get angry...’

Wakanerefy, while saying this to him, remembered something else and in a innocent voice said to him:

‘Daddy, I don’t know whether I should to tell you, but...’

Georhely seeing that the climate was calmer, went out to continue her daily chores, while her son tried to talk to his father. Noticing his difficulty in communicating, asked him:

‘What do you think that’s not worth telling your father?’

‘I don’t know if it’s worth it... but since yesterday I have been thinking of the formation of the Universe. From the time I received the telescope, my way of thinking seem to be changing and I have a lot of questions without answers. Due to of this, it wouldn’t be bad idea if you could buy some tapes, books... for me to study a little more about this infinite Universe. Finally, it is so big and has so many secrets... what do you think of having a cosmologist for a son?...’

‘Great... very good, you can count on me for all you need.’

With that positive answer from Hokerh, Wakanerefy hugged him affectionately.

‘Thank you Daddy!... you are a real Santa Claus all the year through!’

Hokerh laughed and they went back to the room, where they waited for lunch, in the afternoon, they took the opportunity for a walk in the town and looked for video-books.

The years went by and Wakanerefy became more interested in science, making his laboratory a great source of occupation and entertainment.

 

3. THE END OF A CHILDHOOD

Wakanerefy, at fourteen years old, had his first girlfriend, she was called Kerin Ank. He met her at a vernissage in the town,

Kerin Ank was the same age as he was. She was blond, brown eyes, nice body, without doubt a beautiful girl. She was known as the darling of the Senktoweed residents.

Wakanerefy had very good luck in winning his first girlfriend. He knew, perfectly that he was admired by his Scholl friends but he did not take much notice. He only cared about being a dedicated and affectionate boyfriend.

One day, in the Mughin, a restaurant well frequented by the local youth, Wakanerefy was describing his latest idea to his beautiful girlfriend.

‘Ank... I must introduce you to my parents, as I would like to give them some satisfaction about our relationship. I’m sorry if this way upset you.’

‘Waka... don’t apologize to me, no problem. Why don’t you choose a day?’

‘Great, do you mean you agree to meet my family?’

‘Yes, have you a date in mind?’

‘Not yet. Let me think. I know, I’m going to choose March 25th. I’ll meet you at the Tanghuim, after your last lesson, ok?’

‘For me, that’s fine!’

They continued to talk lively, until the time came for Ank to go to the school. Wakanerefy escorted her there and then he said good-bye, reminding her not to forget their arrangement.

Wakanerefy, happy and with time to spend, went to the AWX Ghabb’s television studio. He met some friends in studio 22, where he talked lengthily about his sentimental experiences.

The subject dried up when a new work group took over. After introductions to the new group, Wakanerefy said good-bye, promising to come back another day.

Wakanerefy, on the way to his home, thought:

‘Good heaven! it is the first time that this has happened to me, I think that mummy is going to like her. Daddy, I think he will be at WSC, but I don’t believe that he will be a problem!’

He was self-confident and optimistic, because he was proud of his girlfriend and because of this he wanted to introduce her to his parents as soon as possible.

Wakanerefy had dinner at his mother’s side, told her about his Cosmological course, his visit to the new television studios three-dimensional effect, Dolby stereo sound and other things.

At the end of dinner, he went to the laboratory, in order to continue his research on explosives, called Cfs 112. He started the first tests and, attentively, took notes of all the products used, in percentages, reaction, potency... and also, in order not to forget the formulas utilized.

Near midnight, exhausted, he went up to his bedroom and, not able to resist any longer, he slept.

The following day, in the afternoon, he went to Ghabb’s studios. He liked the interchange of the micro-tapes; loved that mixture of buttons, keys, hundreds of colored lights. Innumerable times, he had the opportunity of touching them, to control programs, to transmit and receive images from outside through laser.

Wakanerefy had gained two more friends, with whom he exchanged scientific, electronic and philosophic information. Undoubtedly, this contributed exceedingly in accelerating his thoughts.

That night, as usual, after dinner, he went back to the laboratory again; his progress continued on the Cfs 112 field, but the arrival of the great day would not leave his thoughts.

On the agreed day, Wakanerefy woke up with the disposition of a tiger and hunger of an elephant. During breakfast, he talked animatedly with his mother, preparing her attitude, describing his girlfriend to her in detail. After, he went to the Tanghuim restaurant, anxious, excited, thinking all sort of things. Suddenly, one of Ank’s friends came towards him. He invited him to sit down and have a softdrink and afterwards, asked him:

‘Sanseet, have you seen Ank at school?’

‘Ank!... yes, I did. She must be in the last lesson. Speaking of her, how is your courting going on with that wonderful girl?’

‘My courting is going very well. Imagine, I’m going to introduce her to my mother today.’

‘Really, it’s love indeed?’

‘I think so!...’

‘Well! my congratulations, the best of everything to you. Every success!’

‘Thank you, pal!’

The talk was agreeably interrupted by Ank’s arrival. Sanseet said good-bye to both. Wakanerefy had an inner wish to tell Ank everything he felt about her, through kind and sweet words but he did not know how to begin.

‘Ank, last night, I was thinking about us and how much I loved you... I adore you very much... do you believe me? Undoubtedly, you are my first and true love. I don’t want to loose you!...’

At the end of this declaration, embarrassed and awkward, he started another subject:

‘Then... how did your last lesson go? Did you have any test today?’

‘Yes, everything was alright. Apart form that, we had a tiring debate.’

‘Debate... what was the subject?’

‘It was complicated, applied nuclear energy. Fortunately, I got good mark, but, to get them, I had to support a theory, presented by a friend, with all my might.’

‘Which theory?’

‘Pollopolis supports that in the atomic nucleus there are particules even smaller, but very much smaller. And that the nucleus of those sub-particules are responsible for the gravity factor, therefore constituting a common part of the Universe.’

‘If your friend is right, this will explain gravity and not only the movement of the stars, as well as where the Universe is going... interesting!’

The exchange of ideas continued. At the end of the snack, they went off towards Wakanerefy’s house. Arriving there, they noticed everything was quiet. Ank, curiously asked?’

‘Do you think your mother is in?...’

‘I don’t know, she said nothing this morning. On brother!... I forgot, she went to town to visit an old friend, but I don’t think she will be long. Let’s see if there is any message on the video-trans.’

Immediately afterwards Georhely arrived. Wakanerefy got ready for the formal introduction, saying to his mother:

‘Hi, mummy... I’d like you to meet Ank, my girlfriend.’

‘How do you do, Ank... I am very happy for this opportunity... so pleased to know you, welcome to the family. I hope that my son is treating you well.’

‘The pleasure’s mine. Mrs. Towmmor, you are really very beautiful. As to Waka, don’t worry... he is kind, good and a perfect gentlemen.’

‘Ank... please... I am also young, you can address me as "you". And please, sorry I had forgotten the time. It will not happen again. Before anything else, Ank, I wish you every happiness and that you have at my son’s side... all that you really want.’

Emotionally moved they both thanked her and continued to talk disconcertedly. Georhely, could not help noticing Ank’s movements, she liked her, confirming all that she had sensed about her son’s first girlfriend.

Then, Georhely stood up and said to the young couple:

‘Excuse me, I’m going to prepare a snack for us, it will be ready in a few minutes... Don’t you think it’s a good idea?’

‘Great, it’s very good of you.’

After, when they had finished their snack and they have talked some more, Ank looking at the watch, said:

‘Dear... I’m sorry, Mrs... I mean... sorry. It’s time to leave.’

‘Ok... mummy. I’ll come back soon, I’m going with her and will not be long.’

‘You can go, my son... take good care of Ank, I adore your girlfriend.’

‘Don’t worry, protecting her is my specialty!

‘Good night to you... Ank, all the best and come back always.’

‘Thank you... see you.’

While they were walking the few blocks, Wakanerefy told her how much his mother had admired her.

Suddenly, when they both were about to cross a large avenue, Ank stepped forward and was hit by a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Seeing that, Wakanerefy gabe a loud scream of pain. Unfortunately, there was no time for anything.

Aghast at the side of Ank’s body, he noticed that the vehicle was a Ghuginim 2 215 TX, did not belong to his district. He felt very shocked; it seemed unreal, confused and without meaning, it was too much to be true.

The vehicle door opened, a middle-sized person came out reeling, Wakanerefy could not control the new feeling inside him: hate.

By now, the place was crowded. Mutterings of condolences were heard; everybody regretted what had happened. For safety, they held the driver so he could not try, eventually, to escape. Visually, he hardly had the capacity to stand up.

Wakanerefy, perplexed and walking around his girlfriend’s body, tried to control his hate. The absence of life, his impossibility to do anything, was drawing him to desperation.

After all, a few minutes ago, this beautiful girl was happy and smiling by his side, now, unfortunately, dead. Tears began to fall, a strange uncontrollable sensation dominated his feelings.

In short steps, out of his wits, he wanted revenge. He went towards that unknown being. Coming closer, he looked fixedly in the man’s eyes, and violence took charge of him. He lashed out in several movements hitting him with innumerous punches and hurting his leg badly.

The public watched everything without doing anything. This seemed to create a complicity of all in the tragedy. The injured man, not resisting the pain, fell with a violent hemorrhage and, again, no one tried to help him.

The silence continued, sadness took over everyone. The day of that quiet district wold never be the some. Nobody believed the news of Ank’s death, it was really incredible.

On the other hand, Wakanerefy, without fear, awaited the arrival of the authorities, even though he was downhearted. The scene shocked him. On the floor, love and hate.

Soon, the police arrived at the place, together with ambulances. During the police investigation, the crowd dispersed; there was not a single person to report the facts. While the technicians recorded the place of the accident, the others released the bodies for the ambulances.

It looked as through, Wakanerefy would be the only witness to report what had happened. At this moment, the drunkard, passed by loaded on a stretcher. Following, with an intense pain, he saw his lover’s body put in a crystal rectangle to be carried away by four policemen.

Wakanerefy couldn’t stop his tears. The commander asked Wakanerefy to report what had happened. With a handkerchief, he cleaned his wet face and, then, without hesitation said:

‘Yes... I killed him!... I killed him because he stole the life of such an wonderful person.’

He had no sooner finished speaking, when a unknown person appeared from the small crowd and, contradicted his words. Confidently, he said:

‘Everybody here are witnesses that this boy is hiding the truth, self-defense. I repeat again: self-defense. I myself saw with my won eyes.’

‘Then, one of the policemen asked him:

‘And so, boy... where is your proof?...’

‘Alright... you want it? ...let’s go!’

The stranger paused, turned to those present and said with loud voice:

‘I ask you to examine your conscience, each one of you... are my words true or not?’

Silence predominated, but, all of a sudden, the people clamored in chorus:

‘Self-defense!... Self-defense!’

Wakanerefy, confuse, spoke to one of the policemen, who said:

‘They are freeing you of your guilt and trying to prove your innocence, it won’t be difficult to get witnesses in your favor.’

The same boy, approached Wakanerefy, with tears in his eyes and said:

‘Take it easy! I’m Edwardyn, Ank’s cousin.’

He kept silent for some minutes, after, seeing another chance, whispered:

‘To all, you are innocent and it must continue like that. Don’t do anything to complicate matters.’

Wakanerefy, thanked him for his incentive, saying to him:

‘Thank you... some day I shall recompense you.’

‘Don’t worry, don’t be silly... in the name of our dear Ank, you don’t have any obligation to me. To the contrary, I have to thank you, for your heroic action.’

‘Hey, Edwardyn, here comes a policemen!

He came up to Wakanerefy and said:

‘Congratulations my boy!... your girlfriend had great prestige. I believe if you had not done it, the city would have on its own.’

Wakanerefy, at this moment, burst out:

‘I will never forget this cursed day!’

‘Friend, there will be other days; it is the rule of life. from now on, time will be your best friend. Do not forget this.’

‘Thank you, it is heartening to hear such courageous words from people who one doesn’t even know.’

‘And more, to all, you are innocent and will stay that way, you understand?’

Wakanerefy ended up accepting the fact and, there was no need to worry further.

When they arrive at the police station, Wakanerefy, thinking that his mother might be worrying, ask permission to use the video-trans, sitting on a small bench in front of the televiscreen system.

Georhely heard the report on the accident and said that she would go to see him in a few minutes and pay his bail.

What she had heard, true or untrue, she went as fast as possible to the police station. Arriving there, she spoke to the policeman on duty and asked to be taken to her son.

Escorted by two policemen, they went to Wakanerefy’s cell; at each step, Georhely felt hurt by the depressive environment; unforgettable scenes.

When she arrived at the cell, she asked her son:

‘What is happening to you?...’

‘Nothing much. I am only shocked, and I can’t wait for the time I can leave this horrible place.’

Then, by a modern system of computerized television, the police officer confirmed that he would be released in a few minutes.

Immediately, a policeman with documents to be signed, approached them. Opening the door, he said:

‘Wakanerefy, please sign here, and you too, Mrs. Towmmor. Ah! in case it interests you, the accused was saved by a excellent group. The report said that the person was not a drunkard.’

The policeman asked both to accompany him. While they walked, he said:

‘Ah, and before I forget, I heard it said that he will receive discharge from the hospital next week, and go to Envimkaw.’

‘Please, sir... sorry for I wasn’t listening, but... what was the name of the city?’

‘It’s Envimkaw.’

‘Thank you.’

Wakanerefy, with these new facts, began to understand, in a more logical way, arriving at new conclusions.

In the car, going back home, as he repeated his explanation, Georhely interrupted and asked:

And why did you ask the name of the city again?’

‘It’s simple, it is the city next to where Daddy is!’

‘I don’t understand.’

‘Me too, only coincidence!’

They spoke nothing more. Arriving home, they met Mhartim and Tellet, Kerin Ank’s Parents. Parking the car, they were surprised by Mhartim, who came up to Wakanerefy, drew a dangerous weapon and, began to say:

‘I could never have thought such a thing of you, but... I never thought you were a murderer!’

Both, Wakanerefy and his mother were confused with this new predicament. Wakanerefy, patiently, tried to calm him, saying:

‘Sir! I always loved your daughter and, I would never be able to do something that hurt her; what you are saying has no basis... it is not true!’

Mhartim, with the gun in his hand, followed him to the house entrance, saying:

‘I don’t accept excuses from an urchin; a criminal, who killed my daughter. You have to die!’

‘Please, sir... I don’t know what you are talking about. I swear you have no reason to call me a murderer...’

‘You’d better shut up, I know everything. You nit-wit!’

At this, Wakanerefy felt morally aggressed. Once again, he tried to control himself and ignore those words.

‘Well, you believe that I’m responsible for your daughter’s death, which is not true, but I’d like to know what made you believe this story, because it is a big lie.’

Marthim paused, stooped a little way away and followed by the worried look of his wife, said:

‘Right, as a last favor to you: I was informed this afternoon that my daughter was killed on an avenue... while she was crossing the street by the side of her boyfriend, she was thrown under a car. In short, the boyfriend could only be you!’

Then, mother and son began to understand the rage of that badly informed father, Wakanerefy shocked at so many lies, said:

‘Let me tell you, sir! This information could only have been created by an unscrupulous person, who wanted to hurt me. Contrary to what he said, I tried to save your daughter. And I can even imagine who invented this story...’

‘What is his name, boy?’

‘His name... it can only be one of the lower class! His name is Sharrim and no one else!...’

‘Yes, that’s his name, but... this doesn’t matter, for how am I to know who is speaking the true?’

Georhely, extremely passive up ‘til now, went in front of her son and, without any fear, said:

‘Let’s put an end to this. you have a perfect right in doubting my son’s word’s, but, I’m sure that they are the truth, you can believe that!’

‘Also, sir, you can confirm it with your nephew, Edwardyn, who watched the whole tragedy, and even help me.’

Suddenly, a figure appeared on the opposite pavement. Mhartim, quicker than lightning, hid his gun in the outside pocket of his coat and said:

‘One more word!...’

The distant person, crossed pavements and came towards them. As he came closer, Wakanerefy could recognize the figure, it was Bewxy, his neighbor’s daughter.

When she arrived, she greeted them all; then looking at Wakanerefy, said:

‘My sincere condolences... but, also accept my sincere congratulations... you really deserve it, for doing something with that drunkard who killed your girlfriend. I am sorry for what happened and, once more please accept my sympathies. Ah... before I forget, be warned and take care, because some of yours friends who didn’t like you started a rumor in the city that you were to blame, so take care!’

Then, she said good-bye and continued her walk. On this explanation, Ank’s parents took a different view of the matter. Marthim disarmed the gun and, made his excuses regretfully.

‘I beg your pardon for what I did... Any father who loves his daughter would have dome the same. Undoubtedly, my immediate reaction on hearing the facts, was to get out and look for you. Fortunately, I understand everything now.’

In the end, Georhely said:

‘Wakanerefy, simply, was involved in this rumor due to reason beyond his control. I understand how it must be hard for a father, or mother, to loose their daughter suddenly; years and years of sacrifice and love lost in a few seconds.’

Ank’s parents said good-bye and went away, sad and ashamed, understanding now that attitude had been so rashly hasty.

When he arrived home, Wakanerefy went to his bedroom and not being able to resist any more, he began to cry. Georhely heard him. She realized the gravity of his suffering and avoided interfering, because the best thing for him would be to face up to the reality of this situation, and so get rid of his anguish. Getting over this controversy, he would be better prepared for the future.

passing the door of her son’s bedroom. Georhely went to here, The answer to all the problems of loneliness, she thought, would be time itself. It was best medicine.

Time went by, Wakanerefy got over the shock with the coming of his maturity. He came back to being strong and healthy as before: but now, a little better developed physically.

When he was fifteen, he started to frequent a group in his district who met almost daily in a big house of their own property. And there he participated in games and competitions. Wakanerefy sometimes had the chance to win and other times to loose. However, this did not worry him, because his good humor had returned. This was very useful, because the name of the Club was Deller Tikko, which meant in the local language: the Good Humored. And if someone lost his temper, he also lost him membership card and automatically would be watched and noted by the association, until one day would take a beating as punishment for breaking the rules.

One day, the youngsters had had to give a spanking to Minanrow, an ex-member. It was planed to be carried out after the last lesson. The reason: betrayal of one of the members of the Club committee.

After lunch, when some of the members met, they decided to choose the "executor". During the voting. They all waited for the name of their favorite and each one cheered for his candidate.

When the votes had been counted, Kijerann, the leader, addressed the group, hesitated in suspense, and them said:

‘Pay attention, everyone... the winner’s name is... a beginner, he is called...’

Kinjerann, with class, insisted in creating a little more mystery, which left the boys even more agitated. In the end, he finished by saying:

‘The honor has gone to... Wakanerefy Templeyn Towmmor,’

However, the winner, contrary to the others, didn’t like the choice. He walked slowly towards the director’s table, during which, innumerous words of support were heard. Everybody congratulated the elected.

When he reached them, during the president’s congratulations and the delivery of the package containing the mission details to Wakanerefy, he surprised everybody by saying:

‘Honestly, thank you hoot at me. I don’t see any real reason, for an associate member to be obliged to carry out down to the last letter all the statutes. Apart from this. I have my own private life and being only responsible to myself, know when I can avoid carrying out an obligation.’

While he was speaking, everybody had stopped booing. Wakanerefy, talking advantage of the attention that they were giving him, continued saying:

‘The reason for my membership in this society was to look for new adventures. It’s not adventure, in any way, waiting for a boy, at the school exist to give him a beating, hoping by this that he will have paid for a mistake made some time ago. Excuses for this type of thing never will be able to given, and by this we are just creating one more enemy for the future, instead of keeping a friend, who one day could be useful to us. I hope you understand my reasons in not accepting this mission. Before anything else, my sincere thanks to you for all the support you gave me.’

At the finish, a tumult took hold of the place, because some were in favors, others against. things began to complicate for Wakanerefy, when another member of the committee took the word and said:

‘Well... quiet everyone... based on the articles and paragraphs of the associates and their non execution, we are obliged to expel you.’

The reaction was general; some tied to convince the committee that Wakanerefy ought to have another chance. At this impasse, Mincripow took the word again, saying:

‘Attention please!... Excuse me, on behalf of the presidency, unfortunately, we cannot have among us any longer such a weak member, who is nothing but a coward.’

During his speech, he tore up the mission package, putting all the pieces on the table...

‘Wakanerefy, I advise you publicly that you must stay as far away as possible form our society. Do you understand?’

At this, looking at Wakanerefy, he felt more enthusiastic about his performance and continued:

‘And you, Wakanerefy!... You know that earlier or later, your day will come, because our group will give you a tremendous beating to get rid of this fad of being a smart philosopher.’

Mancripow, satisfied with the humiliation he had brought, closed the session. The agitation continued, but, after such an annoying situation Wakanerefy went away to his home.

For some time he thought and came to the conclusion that it was he who given the first step. Later on, upset with had happened, he wanted to forget everything and went to sleep for a while.

In the evening, worried by the threat, he went to the laboratory and for some hours continued to work with explosives, but this time he introduced new effects, with characteristics irradiating slept in all the area of the expansion. He was relieved, when he checked that the new bomb had come out right and called it of Cfs-Nz-17.

Feeling tired, he decided to leave everything aside, put away all the equipment and went to the kitchen to have a snack. After he went up to his mother’s room, said good-night and went back to his room to sleep.

The next day, he went to the laboratory and continued working. In the middle of the afternoon, tired, he chose a cinema. Before going, he put some capsules of his explosives in a small plastic container like a match box.

While he waked to the cinema, he did not notice that he was being followed. When he stopped in front of the ticket office, he was approached by four boys and, one of them said:

‘Hey... boy... Don’t make any sudden move, ok?’

‘Alright. I’m listening... what do you want?’

‘We want you to come with us. I hope, for your own good, you are not going to cause any trouble.’

‘Oh... Of course not!... where are we going to? To someone’s house?...’

‘No sir, we are going to get in that grey metallic vehicle there to take a ride round our charming city.’

Wakanerefy, without making any objection, went with them and entered the car, which was ready to go. Inside the car, everyone stayed silent. The car started and took off.

During the journey, he noticed that the altimeter of the vehicle was reading three meters off the ground, which meant that soon it would touch down. Without doubt, in this situation, all Wakanerefy’s reliance was in the Cfs-Nz-17, his best hope.

The vehicle gave a violent half turn to the left and went to land in the Good Humor Club’s garden. They got out and went in the direction of the amphitheater.

Mincripow received the ex-member laughing and said with an air of superiority:

‘Say chicken! We acted quickly, didn’t we?’

‘Of course, congratulations, you did your job very well... a quality that unfortunately I didn’t have.’

‘It’s as well that you understand... and about our work, thank you for the praise. And talking about that, do you know the reason you are here?’

‘No. I have no idea!’

‘Very well! for your information, we brought you here to give you that promised beating. The one that you didn’t give, you are going to get. You know how it is, a Deller Tikko does not go back on his word.’

‘Ok, but before you start the beating session. I’d like to have a cigarette. Any objection?’

‘Oh... of course not... you can smoke as much as you please, and afterwards cut out screams for help, because there is no one near hers. I’m sorry, it is going to be an excellent job without any faults.’

‘Alright, you’re in charge... anyone like one?’

Nobody answered, Wakanerefy prepared to light his cigarette. He got the match box; then, Mincripow, proposed to light it with his lighter. Wakanerefy, seeing his only chance disappearing, said:

‘Thank you. Mincripow, for your attention. Sorry to disappoint you. I much prefer matches; in spite of their being old fashioned, they are more efficient.’

‘Stop being modest, there is no cause to ask for excuses, because we still have lots of time...’

‘I hope there is too. Look... sometimes things, suddenly, like an explosition... invert themselves and, normally, the hunter turns to be the hunted...’

Wakanerefy, with delicate gestures, tried to distract them and occupy them to gain time and have access to the capsules, but, his words irritated them, which speeded up the situation and Mincripow annoyed said:

‘Let’s go lads... let’s give a lesson to this talking smartly and teach him to be careful what he says to his betters...’

Wakanerefy, taking advantage of this explosive joker, answered him:

‘That’s what we are going to see, you conceited, cheap bully!’

At this, there was no question left. Everyone advanced on him like wild animals. Quickly, he threw the first capsule on the floor and jumped backwards. The result was a big explosion. Then, a big spot on the floor and five boys sleeping deeply and who knows, dreaming of the angels.’

Wakanerefy, had no problems in escaping. In the same kidnap vehicle, he went back to town and landed near to his house walking the rest of the way.

When he arrived, he greeted his mother with the most innocent face in the world. Later on, he had dinner and went to watch some of the micro videos from his collection, to relax from the excitement of the day.

More months went by. Fortunately, he didn’t have any more problems with threats, because at this stage the dissolution of the club was confirmed.

Without further problems and with the passing of the years, Wakanerefy began to dedicate himself to the study of Cosmology. he spent many consecutive nights on the terrace, observing the sky with his telescope, everytime equipped with more sophisticated accessories, thus increasing his research of the celestial bodies.

In chemistry, he continued with his analysis, developing more and more new formulas for multiple-functional explosives.

To complete his eagerness for knowledge, he enrolled in a regional videoteca and gave no rest to his sharp curiosity.

With body and sold, he dreamed of his future career, the same as his father’s and his enrolment in the WIC. To be a famous scientist and to work for the good of all mankind.

 

4. CONCRETE ABSTRACT

Some more years went by, Wakanerefy didn’t stop his studies; what most interested him was the Universe. To understand it better, he created his first theory, to which he gave the name of: "The Concrete/Abstract of the Universe."

Nothing is all and all is nothing. If the Universe around us is infinite, equal so is energy and matter. Thus, we can disintegrated any quantity of matter. This fact will not make any difference, because it is, on its own, a product of infinite matter.

He already understood that you cannot subtract nothing from the infinite; the more that it is transformed, it continues to be infinite.

Apart from this, he occupied himself with other phenomena, the simple fact of existence of our Sun is a constant danger, because nobody knows exactly how long its luminosity in the space will last or when it will explode.

Wakanerefy, thinking about the problem, thought of another theory: all the planets in our solar system , didn’t originate from the star of the fifth magnitude, the Sun. On the contrary, all existent substance came from the same source. Thus, there was a beginning, but there will never be an end.

An immense force distributed all bodies mathematically. Wakanerefy thought that this force could be the minuscule particle of which Kerin Ank had spoken to him once upon a time.

The particle responsible for the interbody celestial gravity. And so, he gave it the name of Graviters, or simply particle GTS. It is through it that the planets, satellites, comets and other systems, take their places and wait for new phases of their perpetual development.

A fabulous number of years pass by, until in a small and minuscule point of the Universe, a planet becomes the cradle of one of the greatest phenomena: life. The first phenomena was provoked by a spontaneous combination of geological and physical factors, bringing to the Earth’s crust, the first forms of life. From this slow evolution, millions of several forms appeared and various specimens were generated.

The vegetable kingdom were developing along with the animal kingdom, until one day an animal, for the first time, while hunting, put his life in danger. Due to intuition of self-defense or sudden reflexes in thinking for the first time, it made use of something more than its muscles and utilized something unknown which guaranteed its existence.

Having discovered this weapon, this primitive creature had as immense horizon before him to be amply explored. From then on this being developed never again to turn back and the transformation came. The future brought the development of intelligence that increased in proportion to it’s usage in its environment.

With the passing of the centuries men freed themselves form their natal planet, departing in ships made by their creative minds: they left the Earth as reluctantly, as did the first pre-historic creature when they left their caves for the first time, to explore the unknown more intensively.

The Wakanerefy’s weak point was the Sun. god and monsters of all ages, his greatest fear, as one day it would disappear. As it used up its hydrogen, its temperature in proportion would increase more and more. The oceans would not be able to resist and would disappear. The rocks and metals melting, would eliminate life on the surface. And the Earth, like some planets, would explode in consequence of interior e exterior phenomena.

In the final phase, the Sun would cool and coming to end, would darken little by little like a gas-jet when it is turned off and would diminish in size slowly.

The rest of the planets of the system, would not be able to support life. The survivors, would loose themselves in space like meteors until one day they would find a new home in other place to establish themselves. Due to this, he believed even more in the theory of Graviters.

Wakanerefy thought that there wasn’t reason to worry too much. Much before this chaos would happen, men would be in other distant places in space. Lands remoter and further away would be explored and an infinite number of adventures could be expected for them.

In the future, there would be the possibility of knowing new types of life, different and developed outside the solar system. It is evident that, this vast space is not only for man nor should it be believed that the order of the Universe is only for him.

There would be no delay in first contacts with more advanced species, which might exist in satellites of other suns in other galaxies, perhaps not only from interplanetary travel by man, but also from visits by them to the Earth.

The science of Radio Astronomy, in advanced development, would shortly receive and send signals from these remote land. Sooner or later, contact would be established.

Wakanerefy, at his first calculation, thought: the nearest form of life would be found some 100 thousand light-years away. And only with nuclear or gravity energy, preferably, would be able to travel beyond the solar system or, who knows, the GTS particle gravity factor could be used as a new energy source and the most distant stars could be reached.

Nuclear energy represents a new kind of fire, however, more powerful than that which had set free the pre-historic men from their caves. The first flame had enabled primitive man to explore the temperate regions of the planet.

Intelligence developed from generation to generation and dreams of so many milleniums became purest reality. The conquest of the Moon and Mars in the Twentieth century, was a remarkable step on the road which had begin.

While is lasts, the Earth is the cradle, but man more and more improves himself and draws away from his place of origin. After he had conquered gravity he did not stop receding from his original habitat.

Wakanerefy, also thought if what the future generation would be like and imagined that the human being would probably suffer some modifications. How would this generation of space conquerors be made up?

The aged contemplated the sky and did not imagine that their descendents would be so near to the stars, as their feet and head.

At each stage of the human being, in special exploration sense, his wish for knowledge increased more and more: discoveries and benefits to mankind.

The future is optimistic. In relation to the facts of a scientific nature, perhaps a new Noah’s Ark will come about. And man will take with him small and large animals and will live with them in the new planet. They will reproduce the lost cradle in their new home, because they need the earth at their feet.

Wakanerefy believed that one day man would be able to modify the planet’s orbit’s and control a part of the Universe. The human generation would continue to spread throughout the infinite an all sides and in all distant lands creatures of the same specie would exist. After all, the Universe envelops the great truth and the truth envelops the man.

In his way of thinking, Wakanerefy, thought the ideas a way of anticipating the facts, and the scientific basis of his knowledge gave him to understand, like a trailer to a film, the modifications which could affect a generation.

 

5. OPERATION GEORWAKA’S

Wakanerefy, after so much dreaming, came back to Earth. Leaving his dreams aside, he went to the laboratory and turned on the Videotrans. He was surprised by a sudden cut in the programs with a insertion of his father’s picture. He paid attention to the comments:

‘Good evening, sirs. We communicate, through our municipal network this extra edition of latest news. The scientist Hokerh Tempekery Towmmor, has managed to produce, together with a WSC group, an artificial gravity, activated by an electronic brain center called Georwaka’s.

Specialists have affirmed that with such a discovery it will now be able to move some satellites nearer to the Earth. With a control of such a power, it will be possible to draw the Moon towards the Earth’s surface, without offering any risk.

Wakanerefy, during the news report, called his mother. When he had found her, he told the news. Georhely, in the beginning did not take much notice, but watching the Videotrans, she became dominated by a curiosity and happiness beyond limits.

The fast reverberated all over the globe. Other scientists were called to give an opinion. The same night, the attraction of the Moon as the first test was announced. Time limit was stipulated as three three months; the actual date would be advised later. The declaration had provoked doubts and suspicious that this could provoke a great tide. But the WSC people guaranteed that the some force that would attract the Moon, would keep the tides in their places.

The fabulous invention was built in an area of some acres, being protected by the air force and army, all surrounded by thanks and mines. Without doubt an uncommon fighting force.

At the Hokerh’s request, Wakanerefy and his mother rang up the Elhis Shawn airport to book passages.

The following day, they departed a little before midday. When they arrived at the airport, journalists, television, curious people on all sides, each one endeavoring to register in audio and video, the most commented and discussed subject of the moment. Only an escort of local security policemen managed to get them free to take the plane.

There was great expectation world-wide: if the keys would really put into action and if the Moon would really come to meet the Earth. To eliminate these doubts, the WSC communicated the date of the experience: May 13th, 2011.

The jet landed at the WSC’s airport. The visitors were conducted to the Hokerh's"s’s room, who received them, in spite of being busy. They stayed there waiting for the experiments. Meanwhile, Hokerh taught his son how to operate the brain without the use of programs or schematics. He introduced him to other scientists, who would be his companions during the tests. They were reliable staff.

Wakanerefy, in his way, soon made friends. He exchanged ideas with people whom he knew only as videobooks authors. Little by little, he felt like an extra member and even his new friends already called him the prototype of a scientist. He made it his purpose to know everything about the project and he followed it as though it was his.

One the eve of event, television journalist, specialists, were already waiting at their places. The atmosphere was of excitement for all.

Twelve hours to go. In the WSC the atmosphere was calm and of extreme confidence. Computers working full speed, no detail of the operation escaped. Hokerh transmitted optimistic words. Success was on his lips.

Nine hours to go. Check up of all basic programs. The technical routines are inspected by a group of workers. There must not be any failures with this experiment, qualified as the greatest challenge by man to mother nature.

Four hours to go. Visual and audio electronic signals were connected and all the scientists ran to their positions. In a few minutes, more than seven hundred people were present.

Hookah, proud of all this movement, turned to his son and said:

‘Wakanerefy, all this is for you. This is my contribution to your apprenticeship, because one day you will substitute me!’

Two hours to go. The H sector was examined and tested. The programming of the magnetic tapes was checked. The first stages did not show any faults in their circuits. Then, Hokerh and his son inspected the K sector. Everything was in order.

Thirty minutes to go. Everybody’s heart beats increased. The illumination and reflections of the electronic panels, gave a mysterious aspect to the environment.

One minute to go. The regressive coating was beginning ten, nine. eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero!

A low frequency sound was heard on the ends of the transmitter antennas. When the main control key was pressed, observatories were fully turned to the orbit of the natural satellite. Everything worked perfectly.

The experiment began. Generators turned on. The Earth shook with power. A low buss reverberated everywhere. The Moon seemed immovable, nailed to the sky, however, slowly, the position of its shadow began to move. Then, it became dark and they almost lost sight of it in an artificial eclipse. Suspense was in the air.

A few minutes after everything went back to normal; however, doubt was raised about an important problem: the capacity of the energy generators. Up to what point could they sustain the total energy required for the experiment?

At 20:15 hours, the energy of the generators, automatically, grew weaker as the star drew nearer. A more optimistic manner took hold of the scientists, who could now rest a little, while the electronic brain took automatic control of the operation and final adjustments.

At 20:22 hours, the dream became reality: the Moon was next to the Earth’s atmosphere, at an altitude of 20.000 quilometers. The Moon seemed to have increased sixty times and the sea continued in perfect order.

Hokerh could not restrict his emotions. Wakanerefy did not leave his father’s side. He didn’t want to lose any detail of all that was happening, as also did the inhabitants of the whole world, who had accompanied attentively the incredible event.

Live, on world-wide television, the president congratulated the person responsible for this scientific undertaking. Soon after, the journalists were permitted to enter. The invasion was total causing a general uproar; question rained down. Hokerh was unable to answer them due to his happiness.

On the following day early in the morning, the first to wake up was Wakanerefy who, finishing his breakfast, went outside to the courtyard to record some scenes of the satellite, now so close.

Work started at the WSC early. Measurements, calculations, experiments with gravity with several materials were carried out. And they had to be quick because soon the Moon would have to go back to its normal position.

At eleven o’clock, a news communication to whole world: the Moon would go back to its natural orbit. With this, little by little, the people come back to the streets, waited the farewell of our oldest companion.

At WSC, new programs were loaded in the system’s memory. The generators, testate one by one; against, their charges was being balanced by a process of electronic measurement, through parallel circuits inserted in the new program.

When the time arrived, the regressive counting was made: during the operation, there were no problems. The experiment had already got the taste of a routine. that night, Hokerh gave an interview, explained the experiment:

‘Before I speak of the experiment itself, I want to make some explanations: it is from the atom nucleus that we take energy that we take energy, everybody knows this. A nuclear reactor, liberates energy from the atom’s interior, reducing the material weight. The uranium 238, after discharging energy, becomes lead 207. This difference of atomic mass is the quantity of substance which has transformed itself into energy. Until now, nothing new.

Wait, it is in the interior of the atom that forces exist which keep the substance joined together, this atomic energy not being generated from its own mass. It is those forces which makes, for example, a drop of water be spherical and simply not spread. The spherical shape of the planets and stars is governed by the same laws, which made that drop of water spherical. The difference is only in the size and the density. These are the forces while give mass to the substance and make their weight. Without them, the substance would find itself dispersed in space. Finally, it is this factor, which we call gravity.

The atom is composed of three basic elements: proton, positive: the electron, negative; and the neutron without an electric charge.These three elements have weight and form the atoms of all material. What we have to know is what gives them weight.

If these three particles have weight, by hypothesis, it is not only in the inside of the atom that we are going to find gravity, but in the interior of each atomic particle.

The proton and the electron are attracted electrically. Theoretically, it is this that keeps the cohesion of the atom. But nothing has explained the neutron staying in the nucleus of the atom, without having an electrical charge to keep it there. Only gravity, that is why we began to look for gravity in the neutron.

We found this factor, in orbits, in each one of these particles. Very weak, it was difficult to detect, but it multiplied geometrically and didn't spread, like atomic energy: on the contrary, its concentrates. To isolate this factor was another story, which result you have watched.

Our reactors did nothing more than to project, through radiant energy, the gravity factor, in the vicinity of the Moon, about 20.000 quilometers from its surface. After it was easy: we only had to bring this source back and the Moon came with it.

Once the experiment was finished, it was enough to push this force back to the place where it was formed and the Moon also went back to its old orbit.

This force was returned to its original substance, which now is established in the interior of the reactors. The critical point of the test was to keep his substance together, because without gravity is would have spread and liberated a large quantity of energy.

Once this question was resolved, the rest was easy!’

A journalist asked:

‘And what matter is this?’

‘I only can tell you that its atomic number is 105.’

‘And what is the name of this factor?’

‘I have not thought about it, but my son calls it GTS particle and I’m going to adopt the same name.’

Wakanerefy almost fell out his chair in amazement. His first scientific name, he had gone down in history. Later on, in special security vehicles, they went to the President’s Palace.

When they arrived, the ceremony which precedes the prize giving started. Several speeches were pronounced and, at the close of Chikko Neikko’s speech, the nation’s leader, Hokerh rose to speak:

‘In first place, my sincere thanks. Before anything else, your excellency, my cordial greetings by your worthy presence here. I also want to establish here the value of each one of you; the success was not mine only; it was the nation’s in which we were born, which will never forget our biggest scientific victory.

Once again... sincerely... my thanks to everybody!’

After, cocktails were served. The excitement was general. the Towmmor’s Family was experiencing success. Really, after such prowess, they had conquered a place in the pages of the history of mankind.

The next day, Wakanerefy and his mother went back home. Hokerh escorted them to the airport. On the way, the vehicle breakdown and, when it landed, it overturned on the main road of Edewen Paler.

A passer-by, shocked when be recognized the passengers, rang up the authorities. He awaited the arrival of the first aid. Meanwhile, it began to rain.

Soon that part of the road was isolated. There, on the other side of the road, some men set fire to a truck, unlocked the brakes and pushed it towards the policemen.

There followed a confrontation of forces. More police care arrived at the place. A heavy shooting match started, some policemen fell, others fought to protect the hurt family.

Incredible! all the police troop was exterminated by that strange group! At the end of the slaughter, one of the leaders went into one of the police cars and transmitted a false alarm to the district.

Orders are executed, the group split up. Then went to the damage vehicle, took out the three bodies, put them in another car and left the place quickly, in the direction of a lonely house, near to the road.

When they arrived, Wakanerefy regained consciousness, together with his mother and finally his father. The leader, satisfied with their recovery, said:

‘Good afternoon, allow me to introduce myself... I’m Aflety III. Don’t be alarmed. I am the leader of one of the most perfect crime organization in the world. In short, it was all arranged by our group, from the delicate adjustment of causing a variation in the rudder programming of your vehicle, until the installation of a synchronized device in it to, at the exact moment, expel a sleeping gas. Now, we have to wait the arrival of an important person, who will give us new instructions about what to do and what is destined for you!’

Aflety III, ordered them to be put in a room and there remain prisoner until further notice. Wakanerefy pretended to faint, let himself down and purposely hurting himself. When he got up, he showed his hurt hand and ask for help. Attentively, the leader ordered them to take him away to the laboratory and dress his hand. A bully escorted him.

When they arrived at the laboratory, Wakanerefy glanced at all the existing glasses of chemical compositions. When his hand had been dressed, Wakanerefy tried to distract Tempeny’s attention with small talks. Rummaging in everything, as though he was looking for medicines to treat his hand, he noticed the lack of Sodium Chloride. With an innocent look, he asked the fellow for a little salt, because, since his childhood he had always used it as curative.

The bandit distrustful, went to Aflety III and told him of the hostage’s request. While both discussed the matter, Wakanerefy didn’t loose time, in a flash he made his mixture and put it in his pocket.

Aflety III came to the laboratory, examined Wakanerefy’s hand. After, he himself went out to get the salt. Back, delivered it and went out. Taking advantage of this, Wakanerefy, continued to distract the attention of the guard with his talk. With incredible ability, he managed to do two things at the same time: a curative and explosives.

When he had finished, he rid himself of the bandit with a whack on his neck; he didn’t have any time to react. Wakanerefy ran towards the room where his parents were, and was intercepted by Aflety III. No alternative! He threw the glass on the floor and turned his face. The leader didn’t have time to draw his weapon and fell down.

Wakanerefy, quickly looked for the keys and, suddenly, he heard steps approaching. They knocked on the door. Wakanerefy was undecided, hesitated, trying to think up an excuse. At the end he decided to open it.

He heard complaints from those who were on the other side of the door about the delay. Wakanerefy opened it immediately and the visitors were surprised at his looks; one of them asked:

‘Where are you doing here, boy?...’

‘I’m doing nothing... they have already done it!’

‘The police came here and went through everything... I presume if there was anyone here, he must have run away before hand.’

The strangers grew pale and asked him again:

‘Listen, boy... How long have you been here?’

‘Hum... let me see. Half an hour more or less, I’m not sure. But, I heard them saying something about coming back for a more thorough search.’

‘How do you know all this?... Who are you?...’

‘A journalist like any else, only with a little luck in regard to scoops!’

‘Well, boy... you’d better tell a better story then this or you are going to...’

‘Going to what?’

‘You don’t understand, beautiful, you will have a large hole in you! And what a pity it won’t be journalistic.’

With this, both forced their way and not believing very much, they entered the house. As they passed by the main room, Wakanerefy, cried for help and as they looked back, they were hit by an explosive glass. One of them while fell tried to draw out his weapon. Wakanerefy quickly, threw another one; unfortunately, he missed the mark and the glass fell on soft material. However, the shot given was well-sigmoid and hit Wakanerefy’s right arm, but even so, he tried to run in a zigzag to confuse the aim of his enemy who, at this moment, fell down unconscious.

Wakanerefy started to look for the keys again. He soon found them with Aflety III. He ran upstairs, freed his parents and quickly, they went downstairs and took the car which was parked in front.

On the way, they went to the nearest police station, to register the occurrence. The commander ordered police cars to the place. The Towmmor's’s family was escorted to a state hotel and stayed there one week, for security reasons and investigations.

Everything ran well. Suddenly, Wakanerefy noticed the neighbor to his rooms. And the fewer days that were left from leaving, the more he stayed with her. And every afternoon they talked about innumerous things. The romance get even more interesting when he found out that she was going to live soon in his city.

After some days, Wakanerefy noticed the hilarity in the things and thoughts of both of them. The fondness increased and was growing inside him. The best was to know how she felt the same way in relation to him.

When the day of his departure was near, Wakanerefy decided to tell his mother:

‘I courting a girl. Her name is Andbelefy Becky Haam.’

‘Take care my son. Don’t fall in love so quickly; let time resolve things for you!’

‘Hey, mother, don’t worry, we get on very well!’

‘Great, my son. I hope that your happiness will come back with you by her side, for the good of both of you!’

That night, they had dinner early, because the following day they had to go to Eringhow 14 643 Wankin.

Around 11:00 o’clock, with Andbelefy, they left for the airport of Hawsy Kowcy. When they arrived there, the young couple made innumerous promises to a meet again in the future.

The flight was called, and everybody said good-bye. While the Towmmor’s family took the plane. Hokerh caught tranquility, because the events had disturbed him tremendously. Wakanerefy, on the other hand, dreamed of his new love.

The plane asked for permission to land. Unfortunately for Hokerh, when they descended from the plane, a large number of journalists waited for them. It was a real onslaught of questions. Everyone asked for exclusive information so, Hokerh asked for silence and said:

‘Please, I have come here to have a rest. I hope you understand, I promise, in a few hours to give you an exclusive interview at my home.’

When the finished, there was general applause. Each one understood his fatigue, continuing to take photographs and video holographs only.

Hokerh’s cousins phoned his house to communicate his arrival. Wakanerefy was still a little dazed. His preoccupation was Andbelefy’s promise of one day to return and thought:

‘Will she come back?... or was it just another few moments to a woman?’

When they arrived home, they parked the car and entering, they were surprised to see lots of people. Hugs and congratulations, a real celebration. The Towmmor’s family were moved emotionally at their neighbors and friends. Then Hokerh said:

‘I hope you understand me... thank you form the depth of my heart for this proof of friendship. I apologize, but I can not stay with you any more, as I am very tired but I promise to be with you later on!’

He went up to his bedroom and lay down in his clothes. Downstairs, the laughter and jokes about the humorists moments of the operation, reverberated throughout the house.

Obviously, with Hokerh asleep the center of the party became Wakanerefy. With patience, he told of his adventures at the WSC and, more important, the conquest of a beautiful girl, staying at his hotel.

Midnight arrived and the general festivity continued. The micro video tapes didn’t stop, everybody astonished to see the technical details of the experiment. In the end, exhausted, the last friends went away and others slept there.

Wakanerefy, before sleeping, stayed a few hours admiring the stars and dreaming that one day he would visit them with his love. Little by little, he realized what a childish thought it was. to forget, he tried to distract himself with the Moon, remembering when he saw it from so little a distance and, now, so far away.

Joking, he christened the stars with names from his imagination. To the Southern Cross, he gave the following names:

Khawfery, to the north.

Pletaroco, to the south.

Chevayye, to the east.

Mheriwine, to the west.

Brinsae, for the intruder.

Tiredness overcame him, he put away the equipment and went to sleep dreaming of interplanetary travels and the GTS particle. As is couldn’t be otherwise. Andbelefy also took part in his dreams.

 

6. THE WEIGHT OF FAME

One night, Wakanerefy was attentively, with his telescope, following the course of a comet, when he heard foot-steps. his parents were not accustomed to get up at that hour. Cautiously and with care, armed with care, armed with capsules, he crept on the thick carpet, smothering his footsteps. At the same time he noticed that the sound of the other had diminished. Wakanerefy noticed that someone dad already passed by the entrance door: he saw the figure and followed it without being noticed. Nearer, he saw the stranger turn on a little torch and on starting to climb the stairs. Wakanerefy went into action. He threw his ivory mascot on the floor, to distract his attention.

The stranger, on hearing the noise, turned the torch aside, by chance, the beam fell on Wakanerefy, and quickly threw a capsule which hit him. As the intruder’s body fell down, his weapon rolled towards Wakanerefy's’s feet.

The noise of the explosion provoked a big commotion; everybody woke up and ran downstairs, worried about some accident. When they turned on the lights, they got frightened at the sight of the inert body, which appeared to be lifeless.

General panic, Wakanerefy, after the fright, approached the man. When he had turned him over he recognizes him; he was the same bandit who had tried to kidnap him and who some days ago had escaped from prison. Immediately they called the police. After all the explanations, they went to bed against and the bandit went to jail.

Wakanerefy, when he lay down, heard a noise under his bed. Unprepared, without his weapons, got frightened again. He got up terrified to look for a capsule but didn’t find one. The noise continued; quickly he turned on the light and, when he saw what it was he turned on the light and, when he saw that it was he angrily turned off the switch and went to sleep. It was Kettyblum, his new cat.

A new day began. The cousin, friends and colleagues went away, wishing them all the best and good luck. Later on, recovered from his fatigue, Hokerh said during lunch:

‘I sorry, but I will have to go back to the WSC today. Even more so, after what happened last night. It will be better for all if I go and stay there for some time. When my work permits and this wave of violence has gone away. I promise to stay more time with you, my dears.’

Wakanerefy and his mother agreed that he had better go away. He would go back to WSC at 16:00 o’clock from the Elhis Shaw airport.

‘Georhely, my love! Good-bye, take care and look after our son, he is very valuable. Ah, I have a new project in development that will revolutionize the scientific world... Good-bye, I love you!’

With the flight call, he went to the departure gate. His last words were engraved in Wakanerefy’s mind and, when he saw the plane climb up into the sky disappear, mesmerized, imagined:

‘Golly, what is the old man inventing now?’

Georhely called him: it was time to go back home. On the way, Wakanerefy said:

‘Mother, it has been some time since I have enjoyed myself. If you don’t mind, leave me at the next corner, I am in the mood for a walk.’

‘Alright, but take care of yourself and don’t be late. You know the problems that we are going through. Above all, be careful. Give me a kiss!.

When he got out and, walking in no particular direction, began to look at the shopwindows. he came to a very famous discotheque, called "Twidler"; he went in.

A little vaguely, he watched the month’s show, but continued thinking about his father’s words. While this was worrying him, a girl passed and when the saw his dark look, said to him:

‘May I sit down with you, because I’d like to keep you company... my name is Leeweba, what’s your?’

‘My name is... anyone. If you want to keep me company, sit down, the seat is yours.’

‘Oh... how kind, thank you sir... and if you don’t tell your real name, I shall call you Ugly Duck. Do you like the name? Suggestive, don’t you think?’

‘Ok, you win! Wakanerefy Templeyn Towmmor, satisfied?’

‘Yes, a little.’

‘What do you mean by a litttle?’

‘It is very simple. You are pulling such an ugly face. You must have a serious problem and need to tell it to someone... why not to me?’

‘To you! Are your joking?’

‘No. I’m not. I’m serious. After all, the simple fact that we know each other now, doesn’t mean that we can not talk about problems.’

‘Alright, queen of wisdom... leave me alone for a few minutes, after, I promise to tell you something.’

‘No sir, none of this, pal! Or you tell me now, or I’m going to look for another person with a better disposition to talk to!’

‘Why don’t you stop bothering me? I want peace!’

Leeweba, amazes at the bad answer and thinking of going away, recognized his face. Seen on the television. She started to have more patience with him and, looking wakanerefy’s eyes, with delicate and subtle phrases gradually unfroze his coldness.

He recognized her endeavor and passed to admiring her for her friendly attitude.

Some hours after, with the exchange of a agreeable patter, Wakanerefy felt easier. Thankful, he invited her to take a walk with him and see a film.

Leeweba, before standing up, got intrigued with Wakanerefy who didn’t open one of his hands. Encouraged by her curiosity, she asked:

‘Sorry for a such silly question. Why don’t you open your left hand? Let me see it?’

‘Oh, look... did you like?’

When Wakanerefy open the hand he dropped the ivory tiger on the table, his mascot, a gift from his new girlfriend. Leebewa, playing, took it and put it inside her bag, saying:

‘I’m not going to give it back, you know?’

‘Cut it out, stop joking, your passed that age and you are a young girl who should not do such silly tricks.’

In a few seconds, the situation took another course. Wakanerefy, irritated, took her bag, took out the mascot and was surprised when he saw Andbelefy’s photo. Dazzled with the coincidence, asked her:

‘Who is she, Leeweba?’

‘Andbelefy Becky Haam. You don’t know her, she doesn’t live around here...’

‘No, it seemed that she was moving... I don’t know where. Finally, may I ask the reason of such interest?’

‘It’s nothing. I like photography very much and her face is very photogenic. Congratulations, you have a very beautiful friend!’

‘Thank you for the praise.’

‘Do you know more about her?’

‘Yes, it is better to forget her... she is in love with a boy...’

‘Yes, you’re right, it is better to forget her... then, let’s go to the cinema?...’

‘I’m ready!’

‘Great, let’s go.’

Wakanerefy, from one instant to another, when he knew about Leeweba’s friendship with Andbelefy, became a perfect gentlemen.

At the end of the session, he escorted to her house and they promised to meet each other shortly. Wakanerefy was really coming back to a good phase in his life, so much so that the hours were forgotten.

Wakanerefy arrived home and was not spared; his mother scolded him. When he told her the new situation, he was forgiven.

Leeweba, On Wednesday morning, phoned Wakanerefy to pick up her in the afternoon at the ballet. At lunch time, Wakanerefy, in an excellent mood, had lunch with his mother, Georhely noticed that her son was in the clouds and resolved to bring him back to Earth, asking him:

‘Are you in search of the equalization of gravity of the planets?’

‘No, I have not arrived there yet... I am on the way to the disintegration of the planets!’

Georhely, satisfied, thought the answer funny, but not attaching much importance, continued to talk. Finished he went back, quickly, to the laboratory.

Four hours later, he went out with a strange piece of equipment in his hands. When Georhely saw him, asked:

‘Boy, where do you intend to go with that contraption?’

‘Contraption, no! It’s my atomic disintegration of planets!’

‘Come on now, no jokes and tell me the name of this destroyer of worlds.’

‘It’s only a micro transmitter or laser rays. Only this...’

‘Who gave it to you?’

‘Sorry mummy... but it wasn’t given to me. Daddy gave the original drawing from the WSC.’

‘Ok, take care not to point it at anyone. Don’t disintegrate the house, because we don’t have another one to live in. Do you understand?’

‘Yes Mummy, your request is an order, it has to be obeyed.’

After, he went up to his bedroom to finish his experiments. In practice, the radiation's were powerful, disintegrating hard metals. The second stage, use for specific items, was not yet to be proved.

He couldn’t wait for the time to meet up with Leeweba again. he put away all the equipment in a safe place. And, once again, went back to the laboratory, to make some more capsules of Cfs-Nz-17 and put them in his coat pocket, hidden in a match box, because he knew that his troubles had not finished.

When he left the laboratory, he went and shaved himself. While doing this, thought:

‘By jove, could it be love I am feeling for this young girl? But, hardly know her... and Andbelefy, no it’s not possible!... I swear that I don’t know what is happening to me.’

Ready, he went downstairs, said good-by to his mother, picked up the car keys went to the Twidler discotheque.

When be arrived, Leeweba was already waiting and received him with her typical smile; they sat down in the same place as before. Wakanerefy noticed her constant good humor. She was fascinating. Unable to resist, he said to her:

‘Believe me, I have missed you, and how long you took to telephone!’

‘Me too, Waka. I let some days go by, to be sure of my feelings. I missed you very much!’

‘To celebrate our meeting again, what you would like to drink?’

‘Well, I would like a Silher Shain.’

Wakanerefy pressed the corresponding key to the electronic menu on the table and, while they talked, the first sentimental feelings arose.

Three boys came in and Wakanerefy far away recognized them: the taller Jackdill, was the leader of the group. the one with the berret was Georcrize. The other, was Babalow, who was called "Minus Two", because of the lack of two fingers on his right hand, lost in a knife fight.

With an evil look, they came towards Wakanerefy’s table. the people who were present, slowly disappeared making space. When they arrived, the taller said:

‘How is it boy, you don’t get up to greet your superior?’

‘Sorry, if I’m in the wrong!’

‘Humm... bravo! He is a tough guy too!’

‘Please gentlemen... please respect this lady, who doesn’t have anything to do with our differences!’

‘He is even good mannered too, eh... toughy? I haven’t heard about your new pastime: defending prostitutes!’

Wakanerefy’s pride was now violently hurt and his friend’s character too. Irritated he said:

‘Look here my men! Take back what you said or you be sorry for it.’

‘Well... congratulations, you are speaking like a man, but I don’t mind. I’m not going to take off, Why, are you going to beat me up? Half-baked electronic hero!’

Wakanerefy could take no more humiliation. Decided, he gave the match box to Leeweba. This time, he would fight man to man, he rose form his chair, in front of his friend’s aghast look. He went to a corner and called them one by one to fight, saying:

‘Come on, come on all of you... you unified test tube babies! Let’s compare strength, and let’s see who can do more!’

The youngsters loved the invitation and went to fight. Wakanerefy, with his rapid and artful manners dominated all, who ended up laid out down on the floor. It was evident that who took a biggest licking was Jackdill, because of his offenses.

Leeweba, proud of all that demonstration of affection, was intrigued as to how the young scientist had learned to fight in such perfect way.

‘Waka, who taught you to fight so well?’

‘Ufa!... Ah... two great friends of mine whom I like very much. One of them is my father, and the other one, my uncle, a fanatic for "capoeira".’

Congratulations, you fight divinely.’

‘Thank you!’

With everything back to normal, the waiters began serving again. The manager with a smile on his lips, came towards Wakanerefy’s table.

‘Thank you for that. For several days now they have been coming here every night and no one has managed to do anything with them. They’re a great nuisance!’

‘Not at all. Excuse me sir. Leeweba give me that match box...’

‘Sorry dear. I lent to that man.’

‘Oh no, leeweba!’

‘If you need matches. I have plenty to give you!’

‘One moment, please, I won’t be long!’

‘But...’

Wakanerefy, on excusing himself, got up and went towards the person who had his match box. Getting there, he said:

‘If you don’t mind, could you please return my matches?’

‘Oh... sorry my distraction. I forgot to return it, didn’t I?’

While he was looking for it, an armed rival group, invaded the place. From his side, Wakanerefy, feeling that there would be a fight, asked the man again:

‘Please, find the box, quickly!’

‘Why such a hurry, young man? Can’t another do?’

‘No!’

Wakanerefy ran towards Leeweba and put two pills on the table, telling her:

‘Please, don’t ask why; take them as quickly as possible.’

Even though she didn’t know the reason, but trusting in his words, she took them and after said to him:

‘Whatever may happen, I’m with you all the way!’

‘Thank you, your confidence means much to me.’

While the gang was going throughout everything, one of them went towards the manager, asking him:

‘Hey, pop... what are my friends doing on the floor? Who beat them up?’

The manager said nothing. Suddenly one of the clients who was drunk got up and pointed his finger at Wakanerefy.

The manager hurriedly said:

‘You are not going to believe a drunkard, are you?’

‘You are right, the boy doesn’t have build for such a feat!’

‘I hope you believe me, it was the police who did everything.’

‘Ok, take out these weaklings. So the police continue to chase us...’

As they were taking out the bodies. One of the boys woke up. Wakanerefy, in a flash, decided to act. Grabbed Leeweba and ran behind the table, put four capsules in his hand, screaming:

‘Attention, police, police!’

Astonished at his reaction, they got frightened. Wakanerefy, in one go, threw all the capsules on the floor and the place filled with smoke and in a few second, they fell down in a deep sleep. At the same time, Wakanerefy wet his handkerchief with some alcoholic drink and covered the manager’s nose with it. With Leeweba’s help he took him to the door to breathe pure air from the street.

Wakanerefy seeing he was better, asked him to call the police immediately and told him not worry about the boys as they were only sleeping.

When they heard the sirens, Wakanerefy and his girl went out to a more distant and secure place where they could talk undisturbed.

In the discotheque, at this stage, things were not so calm. When the boys woke up, they were taken into custody: five police cars were enough. The policemen couldn’t stand the boys complaints and laughed when they heard the way in which they were beaten.

Wakanerefy, later, took Leebewa back to her house. Before she went in, they exchanged pure life fantasies and made love for some minutes.

Later on, he went to his house. he put his car in the garage, went to the kitchen to have a snack and to take a pill for a headache. After this, he went to his bedroom, picked up the telescope and spent some hours admiring the sky.

He dreamed, with his fertile imagination, of creatures of the other planets, how they spoke, how they looked and even what their feelings were like.

The next few nights, most of his time was absorbed in his big dream: one day to able to travel through the galaxies. he decided not to speak to anybody about his dreams, because he feared that people would not understand.

More months passed by, Wakanerefy didn’t have any more problems with his friends or enemies.

Now, more mature, put aside his great companion of adolescence, the Cfs-Nz-17.

Tranquility came back to the district, proving, thus, that all corrects itself with time. Everything is because of a little word: Time; that which a lot of men had tried to dominate and have always been dominated by it.

 

7. OPERATION WAKAGEOR’S

Four months passed by. Hokerh became headline again. Considered best present day scientist, he had finally managed to produce one more great discovery: Immaterialization.

When the Towmmor family heard the good news, they were filled with happiness. Wakanerefy, once again, felt very proud. His father reached one more goal with great success and so he was contributing to technological history of the modern world.

Hokerh’s life was a problem for the authorities, who with a full body guard, followed him everywhere. The danger of a international plot grew, because he could he hunted by international gangs interested in his new invention.

At his house, during dinner. Wakanerefy asked his mother:

‘Why don’t we go and visit father tomorrow?’

‘It’s a good idea. He must be missing us as well!’

‘Great, after dinner I’m going to pack the bags. I can’t wait for the time to come to hug him again... it is a pity that he isn’t with us more. Who knows, one day...’

‘Yes my son... one day the day will come... how I yearn for it to come!’

Wakanerefy went up to his bedroom.While he packed his bags, excited with the thought of travel, was imagining what could be immaterialization. Only after midnight he fell asleep, because he was so excited. He forgot his usual habits and even his telescope was abandoned.

The following day, after the normal routine had finished, they went to the Elhis Shawn airport. When they arrived at WSC, they were escorted to Hokerh’s room, who continuing with his new experiment, on a small animal. When Wakanerefy saw him, said:

‘Well, pop! You are the best! You just don’t stop inventing, do you?’

‘Thank you, but this one was simples. Anyway, where is your mother?’

‘Ah... mummy didn’t want to watch experiments on animals. We have to agree, don’t we, father?’

‘Yes, of course... but, since she didn’t want to come here, we shall go to her. Please, Kriskam, suspend the operation.’

‘But, Mr. Hokerh...’

‘I said suspend, I’m human not a machine. I miss my wife very much. Excused me, please?’

‘Sorry, doctor Hokerh. Sometimes, I myself think I’m more machine than human.’

Hokerh put his hand on his son’s shoulder and went out of the laboratory, towards Georhely. When he saw her, he gave her a loving hug. In the middle of the greetings, he said:

‘Dear, you seemed to me to be a little immaterialized!’

‘Me, immaterialized! Hum... to me you are the immaterialized! I never see you, only when you discover crazy things!’

Some more banter and then they went to the hotel. Wakanerefy, curious and noticing a break, ask innumerous questions of his father who with patience, answered as much as possible. And, as he couldn’t fail to do, asked:

‘Father, what is immaterialization?’

‘Materialization is a peculiar process. Do you remember you GTS particle? Well, it is it that allows this process.

You know that in the previous experiment, we took out this particle from a substance to provoke an artificial gravity near the Moon. This substance stayed compressed in the interior of the reactors, while the experiment was made. After the experiment, we studied its behavior.

When we opened the compartment, it wasn’t there any more; but it was. We didn’t know why, the substance wasn’t visible, but it was there with its weight and its properties. We didn’t know how that had happened and we began to check all the equipment, to see where the failure was. When we found the cause, we discovered this process.’

‘Which process, father?’

‘Don’t be in such a hurry. I’m going to tell you. When we extracted the GTS particle from the neutrons, nothing kept them in the nucleus of the atoms and, without the gravity factor, they stayed free in the substance. Due to an electric discharge in the reactor, these neutrons acquired a negative and positive electric charge and started to act as protons in the nucleus and electrons in the orbits. The substance continued with the same number and the same atomic mass, but, with this unusual arrangement, it changed its appearance, that is, nothing. It disappeared from our eyes, because the light fótons did not influence it any more: went through its nucleus, which then became twenty five percent smaller.

We reversed the process with a new electric charge and the substance returned as it was before, showing that this process is reversible. Thus, we discovered immaterialization. We don’t use the name dematerialization, because it would mean the destruction of the substance and this isn’t what occurs. The substance only disappears to the fótons. As for the rest, it continues in the same way.’

From these we decided to experiment with animals. Not only did it work, but we discovered one more thing; the animal is practically invulnerable when it is in an immaterialization state, because the arrangement of the atoms in orbit makes the substance as hard as a diamond; but this doesn’t affect the animal’s movements. It is as though it had acquired protecting armour, like an armadillo. When it comes back to normal, it continues the same, as vulnerable as before.

There are other implications, but, for now, that is sufficient. But now I need to speak to your mother and so you, please, leave us alone and be good.’

‘Georhely, I’m going to ask you a great favor!’

‘Will you let me do an experiment with our son?’

‘But me, daddy?’

‘Yes, you yourself. Why so much amazement?’

‘Oh nothing, daddy. It was only a spontaneous reaction.’

‘Hokerh, your question is crazy. Wakanerefy is our son, not a guinea pig. You know what a responsibility it is if anything went wrong. I would never forgive you.’

‘Let him, mother. I trust daddy. I know how much he loves me; he won’t disappoint you. Believe me!’

‘If that’s the case, it’s ok. I hope that everything runs well.’

‘Thank you, dear. I love your comprehension. Only you can understand me, thanks. Let’s go, my son, it is like a new life, you’ll see!.’

Hokerh, inside the tube, sweated, worrying about a failure. Around him, the scientists verified and corrected the contour curve of the electronic instruments. All the operation of his organism was checked and data transmitted to the central computers.

Hokerh ordered the execution of the first stage. A charge of radioactive isotopes were activated. Wakanerefy felt a variety of sensations. Suddenly, the red signal lit up, and immediately, the control keys were touched. In a few seconds, a small electric charge was felt.

In the crystal tube nothing was to be seen; it was empty. They opened it and felt the movement in its interior. Wakanerefy was getting up. Through an infra-red sight. Hokerh accompanied his son’s movements. From then on, his movements could only be followed by the equipment reading. Oral communication could not be maintained; it would have to be by some other way. Fortunately, the electronic brains received his telephatic wave cerebral frequency and translated his words. Up to now it was the only inconvenience.

Wakanerefy’s thoughts appeared on the colored screens; he said he was feeling very well, but had not had sufficient time to adjust himself yet to his new form, especially, undressed.

The routine of electronic conversation did not delay things. It was a little strange; in the case of reception, the problem was simpler: the message was quicker, as it appear already deciphered.

A long talk by Hokerh to his son, by means of the electronic interpretation system, came to an end. After, they went to the hotel. Before, Wakanerefy was dressed with clothes that covered him entirely, broadbrim hat, dark glasses, scarf and a coat for external protection, in which there was a complex electronic micro-circuit system, so they could talk.

They went to the exit gate. Hokerh said good-bye to all and then an official vehicle stopped in front of them. They entered it; Hokerh looked at the driver and ordered to him to go to the hotel in 105 sector.

The driver drove without any comments. During the short journey, everyone was silent. Suddenly, Hokerh noticed a change in direction. Immediately, asked:

‘Please... where are we going to? this is not the say.’

‘It’s alright. I’m only taking a short cut. Sorry, your friend doesn’t speak at all, is he dumb?’

Hokerh, already suspicious, answered him:

‘Ah, my friend is the famous scientist who moves worlds... His name is Hokerh. The fact is that due to a great number of speeches he has had to give, he is now got a more throat.’

‘Is that true, he really is Hokerh?’

‘Yes! In the flesh!’

‘My, it is a real honour for me to transport so important a person.’

When Hokerh had confirmed that the away they were going was the wrong, he wasted no more time. He put his hands on the driver’s neck, telling him:

‘Come on, man! stop playing. Where are we going, who are you?

As the driver felt threatened, he took out a knife and tried to stab him. Then Wakanerefy, seeing a metal reflection, pushed his father aside and took his place. The driver didn’t have any alternative, but became surprised, when he noticed that he didn’t feel any pain. The knife slid and nothing happened; not one drop of blood.

The vehicle lost control. Disturbed about happened, the bandit didn’t have time for anything else and jumped out of the car. Wakanerefy jumped to the front seat and stamped on the brakes; after he slowed down and parked a little further on.

The, Hokerh summed up the situation. More relaxed, started the car and drove to the hotel. When they arrived, the hotel guest were surprised at their looks.

They went up to the room and, when they knocked the door nobody replied. Voices could be heard. Hokerh, worried and fearing that something bad could be happening to his wife, looked at Wakanerefy and by means of his transmitter told his son what steps would have to be taken.

Hokerh went out to look for the police. Wakanerefy opened the door slowly and entered. He got surprised when he saw his mother tied to a chair. His nerves contracted, he looked at the face of the three men, saying electronically:

‘Who was it?’

‘It doesn’t interest you!’

‘It does, yes!’

‘Then, look for the answer.’

Wakanerefy, with a mortal hate, walked towards his mother and asked:

‘I can’t say, our life's are in danger.’

Wakanerefy went towards the first one in front of him, giving his a big punch. The others drew their weapons and shouted consecutively. However, the bullets deviated from his body and project themselves to the wall. They stood stupefied, not believing the idea of being invulnerable. Wakanerefy took the opportunity, locked the door and threw them on the floor, one by one. Really, an actual hero in action. Then, he picked up the weapons, untied his mother and asked:

‘Who was it?’

‘I don’t know. Wakanerefy, please, stop this violence!’

‘Who was it?’

‘Ok... the fattest one.’

‘Thank you!’

Wakanerefy went towards the bandit. Stopped, took good look at his face, after, he was going to try one more act of violence, when they knocked on the door, but, before, he carried out his intention. After, he asked:

‘Who’s knocking?’

‘It’s me, Hokerh. I am here with some policemen.’

When he recognized the voice frequency, he opened the door. Without wasting time, the policemen shackled the bodies. Experts took care of the digitalis; they transmitted the images to the district. After some minutes, they got the answer from the file: one of them didn’t have any record, but, was a suspect. The others, hunted for some time by the police of Lirow 2 883 Brigg, for subversive activities, outrages and kidnapping scientists.

The bandits recovered the consciousness. Pressed by the policemen, they told about the attempt at kidnap of Georhely. They told them for whom they were working and how they falsified magnetic documents to get into the WSC.

The police routine finished and they took the bandits to the car. Some policemen stayed to guard the family. Hokerh invited one of them to come in. When he came in, they started a discussion about the dangers faced by the family and the policeman said:

‘I think that the best thing to do is the following: at that moment there must be lots of groups wanting this formula, because immaterialization is ideal for crime.’

‘Then, what must we do?’

‘We must to act immediately. Wakanerefy should stay in this state for some time, as well as persons who have the confidence of the police. This way, we could make plan to capture more groups in a few months. In a little while, almost all of them will be handed over to the hands of justice. There wouldn’t be any risk of life to his son, who could be used as a perfect bait. At same time, he could help the State to get rid of the hooligans. I hope you agree.’

‘Yes, we agree. ‘

‘Great. The first thing to do is contact an International intelligence agency, called Gadda Flay.’

Then they went to WSC. From there, the policeman phoned and asked for some men to came to the 109 sector. They didn’t delay and the policemen introduced himself as being the Lieutenant Drayndrix. After, he explained minutely his idea to the dectetives. They agreed with the plans, leaving the final word to Hokerh, as to weather he would permit the continuation of Wakanerefy’s immaterialization for a further length of time.

Hokerh though a little. After talking ho his wife, he agreed. First, for security reasons, he asked for the identities of the five detectives present at the meeting.

Everything planned, they took an armored car and went to the laboratories. There, Hokerh ordered the scientists to come in for new operations. After all, there was a measure of urgency.

In five minutes, all the group was formed and each one was is his place. During the course of the preliminary tests, Hokerh asked the names of who would take part in the operation.They gave the list to him:

1. Batter Tell
2. Meinry Woosy
3. Heinty Dubby
4. Wolker Hendrix
5. Nanver Seitkon

The first to be called was Wolker Hendrix, who was led to the crystal tube. After some

seconds, they had already finished the operation. In this way, less than ten minutes, they had arrived at the end of the work.

Later on, when they had received their special clothes, Hokerh took the opportunity to do an operational test of all the laboratory equipment. He said that wherever they went, the brains would be register the time and location. Because of this, in case of treason, the programming would send a special frequency to the individual receivers and the result would be an enormous explosion and they would cease to exist.

With everything clarified, they said good-bye to Hokerh and went to a hotel to start the plans. An unexpected thing appeared: Woller Hendrix had been called by his superiors to work on another case. They came back again to the WSC but when they arrived there, they were informed that Hokerh had gone back to the hotel.

They went downstairs quickly, took the vehicle and went to the hotel. When they were nearing the hotel, Wakanerefy was surprised at an ambulance parked in front of it. Fearing something bad, he said:

‘There is an ambulance parked in front of daddy’s hotel. I don’t like it...’

‘’Don’t worry, it can’t be anything serious,’

They got out, went through the hotel lobby and went up immediately to Hokerh’s room. When they entered the room. Wakanerefy was shocked, to see his mother being attend by a medical group.

‘What does it mean, daddy?’

‘Don’t worry, it is only a health relapse provoked by emotional instability. She lost her sister, you understand?’

‘But, how did it happen?!’

‘A breakdown in the ship in which they were travelling to the Moon, made the thing explode. There were no survivors.

‘Gee, I’m sorry that it happened. Mummy, my sincere condolences. Ah, father... sorry mummy, I know that it is not the time, but they need Wolker Hendrix urgently. Could you help us?’

‘Sorry my son, but the situation that I am in is difficult. You can go to the laboratory; I will get in contact through the Videotrans. Look for Tibby Dowly, who can easily substitute me... now go on... your mother needs rest and silence.

‘Thank you, father... sorry I came and disturbed you at this hour.’

‘It’s nothing, it’s not your fault. Don’t waist time, move!’

They went back to the laboratory and waited for the arrival of Tibby Dowly. When they saw him, they exchanged some ideas and immediately were escorted to the inverse operation room. the group was already ready.

After five minutes the young detective came back to his normal state: materialized. After, they left in two cars for a inspection of the rest of the laboratories. After they escorted him until the main courtyard, from where he tock a special fleet vehicle and went to Gadda Flay, where his presence was required.

Then, the five of them went to a hotel nearby and there they stayed til 16:00 o’clock. After, they left in two cars for a inspection of the rest of the laboratories. After they had parked the vehicles, they took off the clothes and nothing was seen; they were invisible.

More hours passed by but no signal of any penetration by strangers. The individual cards were constantly reviewed and confirmed, which gave a certain tranquility.

They continued in this rough comparing for some ten days. They were happy because no gang had tried anything. After this, everybody went back to their natural state and were relieved of their work.

That night, before leaving, the detectives said good-bye and advised that in case of necessity, just call them and they would come with pleasure.

Two days after, Wakanerefy, bored and missing Leeweba, asked his mother to return home but she was still recovering and could’t travel so early.

On the fourth day, Georhely got ready to go, because her physical condition was much better, allowing her to travel. Wakanerefy went to the Hawsy Howey airport only for something to do. In the restaurant, he saw a girl passing him who seemed familiar. he got up and ran towards her. When they met each other, Wakanerefy said:

‘Andbelefy, how beautiful you are! You don’t seem like the girl I once Knew. What are you doing here?’

‘Waka, what memories! I am pleased to see you again... you have not changed at all. I came with my parents and we are going to leave for your city.’

‘Great! It’s good to hear you. I don’t believe that it’s true... You’re so beautiful! And more, you are going to live near me, may the heavens be my witness!’

‘Oh! Go on, you don’t need to dramatize it so... I like you and I’ll be very near, when you least expect it. But take care eh! don’t get another girl or things will be tough for you.’

‘Finally, what are you doing here?’

‘I came here to see my father in WSC and look at his work. I shall go home soon. Would you like to sit down?’

‘Good idea! And so, better settled, we could talk about our lives.’

‘Come over here... Do you prefer the right or the left side?’

‘Right side by habit.’

‘Would you like to have lunch?’

‘No, thank you. I have already eaten.’

‘As I was telling you, about my father, he has discovered wonderful things. Everything that he has done he has dedicated to the family. But at the same time we Sheldon see him. He works a lot and there is almost no time to talk to him. This upsets me.’

‘Why?’

‘Because my biggest preoccupation is that I have never done anything useful for him, except to give him moral support.’

‘Waka, tell me now. Aren’t you feeling better?’

‘Much better... Andbelefy, you’re an angel. If I am any father’s target for the creation of all these things, he is going to be mine. the day will come whom I shall be useful to him.’

‘I like it, Waka! You seem to be conscious of the future that awaits you. Ah, over there, it’s mummy... One moment. Mummy, mummy!’

‘Hello my daughter... Having lunch again?

‘No, mummy. Let me introduce you the youngest scientist of the world, Wakanerefy Templeyn towmmor.’

‘Please to meet you.’

‘The pleasure is mine.’

They continued to talk, but Wakanerefy, noticed the time and wanting to have a walk with his girlfriend, said:

‘Please, do you think I could go for a walk with your daughter?’

‘We don’t have much time.’

‘How much time do you have?’

‘One hour, approximately.’

‘Thank you, it’s enough. Let’s go Andbelefy?’

‘No objection from me!’

‘Alright, you can go. Don’t be long!’

They ran, played and courted. The closed circuit cameras registered the most beautiful and purest gestures of love. They were Wakanerefy’s best moments.

In the end, they were near the moment to return to the departure room because the flight number had been called. When Andbelefy’s mother saw them, she said:

‘Sorry, Wakanerefy, it’s time to go. Please to meet you. I liked you. I’m already going. Andbelefy your father is waiting for us in the plane. Once more, it was a pleasure in know you. Andbelefy, don’t be long!’

‘The pleasure was mine. So long!’

‘Good-bye, Good-Luck.

‘Good-bye. Wakanerefy. I hope to see you as soon as possible.’

They kissed each other and Andbelefy left. Wakanerefy went back to the hotel to tell this surprise to his mother. Later, he went to the terrace and for hours he stayed admiring the sky, which was cloudless and could see the planets and satellites clearly.

The following day, at 16:00 o’clock, Wakanerefy and his mother went to the WSC laboratory to say good-bye to Hokerh. When they arrived, they were escorted to the waiting room, because Hokerh was in a meeting but be would soon be free.

After the meeting. Hokerh came to see his family, saying:

‘Dears, wait just one moment... I’ll be back soon.’

Then, Hokerh came back with a suitcase under his arm and delivered it to his son, saying:

‘Wakanerefy, here is the product of my efforts. Don’t open it until you arrive home, and don’t lend it to anyone. There papers are a summary of all my work. To avoid future problems, in the internal part of this pen is the electronic scale of the codes used.’

‘Ok, I’ll take care of it.’

Wakanerefy, happy, picked up the suitcase, because now he would be able to understand in detail his father’s discoveries. Then, his parents said good-bye to each other with a lot of loving, with promises to return soon.

Later on, Wakanerefy and his mother left for the Hawsy Howey airport, in order to return home.

 

8. UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS

A month later, practically every newspaper announced the appearance of unknown objects with strange shapes and their own light. Their movements were uniform and silent and for some time they performed acrobatics in space, challenging all the laws of nature. When the radar's began to trail them, they disappeared.

The news was extensive and full of photographs. Large quantity of material in video was recorded. Television stations didn’t comment about any other subject. It was the most audacious appearance for many years.

Wakanerefy, interested, bough all the newspaper and magazines. Then, he cut the articles out and put everything in his album. Suddenly, while he was looking photo by photo, he noticed that the circumferences and the lines made in the sky had some meaning and they seemed to build a language, but as he didn’t have the correct chronological order, he was unable to interpret their meaning.

During that night, he stayed up looking for the unknown ships, but he had no luck; they didn’t appear. Then a series of questions came to his mind: Why did they appear and disappear without leaving a trace? Not even the radar's managed to establish their trail! How did they arrive and how did they go away? As fast as they might be on arrival and on departure, they seemed to coordinate everything on the speed of light. On they materialized in space, or...

It’s not possible! Difficult to believe!... They were faster than light! If this was true, when they reduced speed, they appeared on the radar's and when they exceeded the speed of light, they despaired. So this give the impression that they materialized suddenly; could it really be this?

Wakanerefy was stunned, but continued to think; he wasn’t discouraged at any moment.

This astonishing velocity, if it was faster than light, would create a sequence of paradoxes to the physics we know. This would explain the appearance almost simultaneously in different places. Thus, when we saw an image, they were already in another place producing another one. It was like the astrophysics said: it’s possible to study the past through the light of the stars. If one star is 10.000 light-years form us, we are seeing the light produced by that star 10.000 years ago. The phenomena that occur in it now, will only arrive here 10.000 years later. But if a ship approaches that star, at a speed faster than light, the course of time will accelerate; but if the ship draws away from the star, time will go backwards. And this language, what are they wanting to say? If they are here, it’s because they know us and if they use this language, it’s because they know that we are going to decipher it.

Wakanerefy didn’t stop and even in the light of these fantastic theories, he didn’t get depressed. He would continue with his researches at any cost.

The following week he changed his telescope for another one of longer ranges, to facilitate the search of unidentified objects. He also bought several electronic instruments to identify the presence of flying bodies. He installed video and photography cameras in his accessories. Everything was ready for the recording in sequence of their movements in the sky.

Many nights passed by and nothing! One day, Wakanerefy saw some little points in the sky. First, they gave the impression of falling stars, due to the velocity that they came down against the surface of the Earth.

Wakanerefy was intrigued, but soon noticed the presence of the famous flying saucers. Excited and awkward. In front of the resplendence of the light, he turned on the equipment and the recorder. The ships movements were even controlled by computer.

The saucers stayed stooped for some minutes and then flew over the neighborhood. After, they disappeared over the horizon at a fantastic speed. Wakanerefy vibrated with happiness and rewound the video tapes. When he touched the key "play", he got frustrated because he saw nothing on the monitor screen. Luckily, he still had the photographic film.

The following day, as must be, early in the morning, he sent the films to be developed in a friend’s shop who was of extreme confident. In half an hour he got the photos developed and was very happy that he dad not lost any them.

Satisfied with the good news he went to his house thinking of the problems that he would have to interpret the language of those strange geometric movements which he had watched last night.

During the lunch. Georhely noticed her son’s evidently excited state and asked him:

‘What’s the problem, son?’

‘It’s nothing, mummy. I am only waiting for facts. I have a presentiment. If the movements are equal to a binary code. I have made an interesting discovery: The space language.’

‘Great. I hope you will reach your purpose. Now let’s go, don’t forget to eat.’

They stayed discussing for some time, his mother seemed to be enchanted by his ideas, because they had a certain coherence. Then, Wakanerefy returned to his bedroom and continued his studies of the sequence of the saucers movements.

Little by little, slowly, he consolidated all the photos in the video. In the tape recorder, he made image mixes, superimposed negatives, he used every possible idea from his imagination. He made lines, circles, points. In a little time he was establishing the signal combinations, which made two logical sequences, and thought to himself:

Circles that approach between dashes, this is clear; to establish contact, but why two sequences? Circles which approach between points and then the contact of the points. If can only be the time. It is! The points after the circles in contact, mean the time they will take to make the contact. Four points: four days or four weeks or four months, but do they know our system of counting time? To a stranger, it can only be: day, a lunar month or a year. Four years is very long. Four days is very short. It can only be four lunar months, 112 days, that’s it!

Suddenly, it seemed like a dream to him, but the message was translated:

‘TO ESTABLISH CONTACT. 112 DAYS.’

Wakanerefy couldn’t resist it, when he saw his theory materialized he yelled for his mother. When Georhely arrived, he said:

‘Look, mother! Your son has managed to make a great discovery. They are coming here, really!

Wakanerefy was very excited, he couldn’t keep calm; the excitement was general.

‘My son, alright, my congratulations. Please, keep calm.’

"I’m going to try!’

When was more relaxed, Georhely telephoned Hokerh, advising him of Wakanerefy’s forthcoming departure to visit him. After, she phoned to the Elhis Shaw airport, booking tickets for the next day. Then, she looked for some sedatives and gave one to her son. Wakanerefy, under the effect of the sedative, went up to his room and fell asleep.

The following day Wakanerefy with his mother went to the airport. After some minutes, he left alone to Hawsey Howay. When he arrived there, a security group was waiting for him and took him to the WSC.

Wakanerefy, prepared the micro videos to show on the electronic screens, amplified by computer. Soon, Hokerh arrived lively and said:

‘Hello, son. I‘m very happy. I know, you are not going to disappoint me. You will be a great scientist.’

‘Thank you, father. I hope I’m right.’

‘It’s not necessary to thank me, son. I need action and you took the right course. This makes me feel happy. If it is right or not, the future will tell.’

‘Be calm father, don’t be so pessimistic. Hope that I am right.’

‘I hope so. Well... let’s begin the projection. It seems that everybody is interested, as I am!.’

The videos were shown individually, after, the mix of all of them in sequence. Wakanerefy defended his theories, which seemed consistent. The majority agreed. All that remained was to wait the hundred twelve days. But, suddenly, on the superimposed images of the negatives, they noticed that a word was formed, which had no meaning to them: "Kalhelaws".

Wakanerefy tough it to be the name of the visitors. A great number of them also agreed, but, anyway. If everything was confirmed, the problem of the unidentified flying objects was solved.

At the end of the debate, Wakanerefy stayed one more day. He talked for a long time with his father, telling him of his dreams of visiting space and even about his problem with his girlfriends.

The following day, in the afternoon, he went back home; it was becoming a agreeable routine, those travels from home to the WSC and back.

Wakanerefy arrived and soon found that his mother wasn’t in. first, he didn’t mind, he thought that she had gone out to shop. He went up to his bedroom and unpacked his bags.

At eight o’clock at night, Georhely still hadn’t come back. This made him a little worried, because she was not used to being so late, even more at night and knowing he would be coming back.

Some more hours passed by and she still didn’t appear or even call. It occurred to him that something unusual had happened to her. Everything indicated that he would have a long wait.

The digital clocks showed midnight. Undoubtedly, something was wrong in the air. Wakanerefy lost patience and began to call all his mother’s friends. Unfortunately, he got nowhere. Panic took charge of him, he didn’t sleep and stood waiting for any message.

At two o’clock in the morning, Wakanerefy, very sleepy, went up to his bedroom.When he began to climb the stairs, the Videotrans emitted the usual signal. Wakanerefy ran towards it and answered: it was his mother, who communicated a serious accident with Hokerh’s parents, who were in danger of loosing their lives.

Wakanerefy, shocked with his grandparent’s accident, phoned his father, who promised to go on the first flight to his parent’s city, Erinshow.

When Hokerh arrived, he received the sad news: Mr. Kenfegner Lenner Towmmor and Mrs. Winguem Lenner Towmmor, had died a few hours ago, not having with-stood their wounds.

Later on, Wakanerefy went to Erinshow. When he arrived, he met up with all the family, while they awaited the release of the bodies of the electronic incineration. Other members of the family took care of the legal part of the documents, for this authorization.

In one hour, everything was resolved. That night, there was very little talk between them. After all, in spite of all the centuries, death never has been very well accepted.

The following day, at a prearranged time, a simple ceremony was carried out; at the end, the family said good-bye to each other, promising to visit soon.

Wakanerefy went back with his parents. He felt the pain of his grandparents’ death but, on the other had, his pain was not so much, as since he was a child he had not seen them any more.

Arriving at home, his father soon afterwards went off to the WSC. Wakanerefy, to distract himself, was dreaming about a new message from the strange inhabitants of the unidentified flying objects, unknown creatures of outer space.

 

8. VOYAGE TO AN ARTIFICIAL PLANET

Wakanerefy continued with his routine; his parents too, in the same rhythm. His father hardly ever came home to visit him and his mother seldom went out of the house to travel or something like it, because she was always too busy.

At his stage, Wakanerefy forgot everything. His friend Leeweba, during his recent withdrawal, had another boyfriend and also had changed jobs, going to another city. He lived now locked in his laboratory, working hard.

In this atmosphere of apathy, his cousin Hanney Ghukky Towmmor arrived at his house. He came to spend one month school holidays. Both soon had a good understanding.

Hanney had already learnt to work with explosives. At night, they discussed things, because contrary to Wakanerefy, he didn’t like to stay looking at the sky and didn’t believe very much is space travel but liked the pleasures on Earth.

One day, Hanney noticed that the neigbour was moving. Going up to the owner of the house, he noticed he was an old man; he must be more than seventy years old. Talking to him, he found out that he was going to Richmond 12 729 Trukk city, his city of birth, where he preferred to stay during his old age.

Hanney got intrigued with his way of living, because, at his age, he lived alone: he didn’t have a maid, only one taken for some days of the week. He was surprised when he heard that he was a fanatic for contemporary electronic music.

No had a large quantity of musical lasers. He confessed that the cause of his cough was the tuneless lines of contemporary music and that this was a mirror of everything that he saw. Thus, he understood the world through music. And nothing more surprised him.

At the end of the talk, Mr. Woodloffity went out and Hanney escorted him til to the car which was waiting for him. Then, Wakanerefy arrived with a friend.

Woodloffity said good-bye to everybody, leaving his new address, wishing every happiness to everybody and giving the last good-bye nodding to his neighbors. Then all that was heard was the loud noise of his vehicle.

Later on, the three boys came in and began to talk about their day’s conquests. In the evening, after going up with the boys, Wakanerefy noticed that in the direction of Innos constellation, a squadron of flying saucers could be seen clearly a great altitude. However, this time, the movement was continuos and uniform. While he looked for his camera, his cousin and his friend slept like angels.

With his camera in his hand a phenomena then happened: the ships reduced the light to the maximum, staying almost invisible in the darkness. This way, he got frustrated because he couldn’t get to photograph them, but thought that perhaps they were looking for information. The solution was to wait for another message, to confirm the great day of the first contact with the unknown visitors from space.

The following day, early in the morning, Wakanerefy described what had happened to his cousin. they went downstairs to the garden to look for the newspaper and didn’t find one. They went up to Wakanerefy’s mother’s room to speak about the disappearance and, to his surprise, there she was with the newspaper on her hands. On the cover, were photos of the strange space ships. The comments were most varied and thus two weeks passed for the two adventurers.

From the second to the third week, Hanney, in his habitual walks, noticed that there were some removal trucks by his house, where, the old man had lived before, and soon new owners would arrive. With his sharp curiosity he went to one of the drivers but he could not inform him anything.

On the last day of his stay, they did everything to enjoy it to a maximum. In the afternoon, they went to the Elhis Shawn airport.

Fifteen days passed by. One day, Wakanerefy was returning home, when he saw a car which drew his attention, turning into his street. He noticed three very well dressed people, evidently, it must be the new family.

The young girl sitting in the back seat intrigued him. He looked at the person and, finally recognized her. It was not possible, he thought, it was Andbelefy!

The modern vehicle parked by the side of his house. A man was the first to get out; supposedly, the father. Wakanerefy looked at his face and get shocked. He had the impression of facing seen him somewhere. The man stopped and during some seconds looked Wakanerefy. Then, opened Andbelefy’s door.

Wakanerefy, worried by the exchange of looks between both, went to his house and soon went up to his room and from there he stayed watching everything. With his binoculars, contemplated his girlfriend beauty: it seemed that now she was even more beautiful. At the same time, a problem worried him: where had he seen the face of that man?

Everything was novelty; the routine broken, now he only thought of Andbelefy. And that night he didn’t go to the laboratory and even his telescope was forgotten.

The next day, he had woken with news: a telegram form his cousin Hanney, advising that everything was alright, and that he had a good trip. After he had read it, he went down to have breakfast. He thought of wonderful things. However, the features of that man’s face worried him more and more. Where and when had he seen him? The more he thought, he could’t get it; he mixed his face with a hundreds of other known faces.

Each moment, this torment increased. To relieve his tension he ran to his photographic file of friends and families, but the more he looked, the less he knew. Only the mystery of the flying saucers managed to deviate his attention from his problems.

In the end, he opted to go a friend’s house to play chess and relax a little. In the afternoon, the sun had already disappeared in the horizon, when Wakanerefy said good-bye and came back by his usual way; he was much more alleviated.

On the way, he was surprised at seeing the house of a friend of his, being devoured by the flames. He ran towards the house. The crowd was huge and everybody wanted to help, but it didn’t help. The first increased more and more. Sirens were heard, the tumult grew, because the most difficult thing to happen in this age was a fire. The construction material was inflammable.

The firemen with courage fought the fire; with all its fury, did not frighten them. But all to no avail, the enemy won. Nothing more than ashes remained. After some minutes, several cars arrived. All the place was isolated and searched.

The experts came to the conclusion that a short-circuit had caused it, because there were no other indications. Wakanerefy was impressed to see the weakness of the man in front of fire.

In the end, everybody went away and only Wakanerefy stood there, who still thoughtful, began to walk on the ashes. Suddenly, he trod on something. The sole of his shoes burnt in a peculiar way. Then, he noticed a metallic tube which reflected a red light in circular movements. The temperature was extremely high; he couldn’t even pick it up.

After some hours, Wakanerefy noticed a fall in the temperature. When it arrived at 50 degree centigrade, he picked up the tube and took it away with him to the laboratory to investigate it immediately.

When he arrived home, he had an idea: Could the piece of metal be from the flying saucers? His idea seemed to be correct and, with curiosity, looked for an opening in the upper part of the object. He knew that on the Earth there was practically no metal which could support the temperature of the fire, and it could only have come from another point of space. The cause of the fire was there: he didn’t need much effort to find out what had happened.

Wakanerefy was startled when, suddenly the metal reached the zero and opened. Inside could be seen another metal upright etched with the same signs which he had photographed. He didn’t take a long time to discover the meaning; the signs indicated that they would arrive in one lunar month.

It was a confirmed signal from a superior civilization about to get in contact. The great day was near. Wakanerefy’s emotion was tremendous. What would they he like? What would be their size? Fat or thin? His imagination ran very quickly: the mental excitement reached the climax. He was near to the great meeting.

He looked at the calendar, counted and noticed that they would arrive a day after his birthday. Then, he ran to the living room and finding his mother in front of the Videotrans, told her the reason of all his excitement. Georhely told him that Andbelefy has called.

The following day, in the afternoon, as combined, Wakanerefy was on the terrace of his bedroom; he was getting ready to meet his girlfriend. He hadn’t done it beforehand, because of his timidness and an excess of unexpected things to do.

Suddenly, he saw Andbelefy walking in the garden of her house. She answered coldly to his hand waving. This made Wakanerefy frustrated and depressed; anyway, what was the meaning of that gesture? Looking further to the side, he noticed her parents. Perhaps they were the reason of her strange procedure.

So now, the best thing to do was for Wakanerefy to be quiet, before some problems arose. Later on, during the dinner, the door bell rang. Wakanerefy stood up and went to see who it was. When he opened the door, he was surprised in seeing Andbelefy, who said to him:

‘What’s the problem? You don’t seemed to recognize me any more... Finally, you don’t have to be afraid. I’m not going to do anything bad to you. Even knowing that you courted a friend of mine, Leeweba. Do you remember? You don’t waist time!’

‘I... I... I... can explain!’

‘You don’t have to explain anything. You must have your reasons. Besides, nobody guaranteed my coming here, nobody. Except my word.’

‘Andbelefy, swear that you are not hurt? I did not do it on purpose, but really because of a lack of company.’

‘Well... you don’t need to worry; better with a friend of mine than with someone I don’t know. I am the one to have to ask excuses for not answering your waves. I hope you understand... Daddy is very strict. And I didn’t want to greet you: besides, he doesn’t know about you. Well, may I come in... or you are very busy! No problems, I’ll come another day!’

‘Ah, of course, come in... Sorry I didn’t invite you before, but, I was a little out of tune and forgot my good manners.’

Then they entered and went talking up to where his mother was, who hugged her, very happy to see her again and to know she was the new neighbor. Wakanerefy told Andbelefy about his recent discoveries; she got dazzled with her boyfriend’s stories.

At he end of the conversation, Wakanerefy took the opportunity and invited her to his birthday, on October 16th, when be would be there. He took her to the gate of his house; where they stayed some time, because they had a lot of talk about.

October 16 Th, 2014, the birthday date. They were all preparing for the occasion and, according the Wakanerefy’s opinion, after this he woudn’t commemorate it any more.

In the evening. the first guests arrived: some neighbors, friends and colleague. Little by little, the party began to get animated. The number of guests increased, but, Andbelefy, up to then, hadn’t arrive. To Wakanerefy, without her, it was not the same thing.

Hokerh arrived and the happiness of his son increased. Then, his girlfriend entered with her parents. Wakanerefy went towards them and introduce them to his family.

At the same time, the same worry came about the face of that man. There was a certain coldness in the manner of speaking, giving the impression of something that had existed, years ago.

When Wakanerefy stayed alone with the girl, he asked her:

‘Sorry the indiscretion... But, I don’t know your father’s name yet.’

‘Of course, his name is Arvenny Becky Hamm. Anything else, sir?’

‘Oh no. Thank you... why does he sometimes put his hands inside his shirt?’

‘It’s because of a little scar, in his abdomen. It was a traffic accident he had once upon a time.’

Wakanerefy, socked, remembered finally, form where he knew him. It seemed impossible to him, but there were no longer any more doubts, everything was clear now. Eight years ago. It was he who was the murderer of his first girlfriend. his face grew dark and everything became black memories for that moment.

Andbelefy noticed this strange transformation and asked him for the reason. He excused himself, saying that he had forgotten an important message for his cousin. They didin’t Saeki about it any more. Wakanerefy did everything not to hurt his girlfriend, who was not to blame for her father’s past.

Later on, Wakanerefy, a little more controlled emotionally, asked his girlfriend to help record some scenes of his birthday, and Andbelefy said to him:

‘Dear. if you begin the recording at the front of the house it will be more professional... don’t you think?’

‘Great idea, let’s go to the garden.’

When they arrived there, he prepared the equipment for the beginning of the first takes. He programmed legends, set the balancing and routines of framing. After, he said:

‘Why don’t you sit down a little? We have time yet.’

‘Ok, it’s not a bad idea... You are starting to take the initiative. This is what I call of progress!’

‘Thank you.’

‘Not at all. Do you know that your mother is very careful with the house decoration? She is very careful indeed; everything rationally well distributed. Internally, a real jewel. Externally, a... what’s in the sky, Wakanerefy!!!’

Andbelefy had hardly finished speaking and complete darkness took over the district. No sign of light. the lack of electric energy was practically impossible, because the source was of nuclear energy.

Georhely tried to telephone the responsible company, but it wouldn’t work. The telephone was dead, which, at this stage, was already a coincidence as much as inexplicable.

Everybody was silent. The situation took hold of each person. The strange happening made some dwellers come out of their houses, looking for explanations.

Everybody who was in the party went out into the street, which was illuminated by Moon-light, while he atmosphere became still more overlade. Something abnormal was happening.

The wind increased its fury and some windows broke. Several trees to the streets fell on the cars which were parked next the pavements.

Nobody knew what it was. The answer could be in those little points of light which were developing at an extraordinary velocity and, the nearer they approached, the more the winds became furious.

Some people, more afraid, ran to their vehicles, but their energy was nil. Thus, they obliged to wait and could do nothing.

Wakanerefy. Andbelefy and Hookah were side by side, for whatever might happen to them. In the atmosphere of suspense, after some minutes, Wakanerefy cried excitedly:

‘It’s them! It’s them!’

Hokerh confirmed that they were the space ships and was astonished; emotion took hold of both. Really, everything was so fantastic!

The two saucers came towards Eringhow. Nobody understood each other any more, it seemed that they had gonna crazy. They couldn’t control themselves!

The ships moved at an incredible speed and their light increased as they came nearer the city. Then, they began to reduce speed and all of a sudden a new phenomena: the light, telephones and motors got back their energy. however, they had an irritable flickering. The switching on and off continued, leaving everybody dizzy.

The saucers were now seen nearer and didn’t leave any trail of gas or vestige of light, not even noise. They stooped over Wakanerefy’s house and came down to an altitude of 300 meters for some time. Everybody was amazed at such brilliant magnificence.

Georhely walked to the micro video and turned it off. Immediately, this disintegrated, which left everybody stupefied but nobody moved; they seemed paralyzed. Suddenly, the two saucers threw a light over all the people; it was strong and penetrate, but didn’t disturb the sight.

The impossible happened. Wakanerefy, Andbelefy and Hokerh, only, felt a strange and imponderable sensation. They became as light as a feather in space. At the same time, the two ships moved round in circles. The three, as if by magic, rose up slowly towards the ships.

The couple went to the right side and Hokerh to the left. Parallel to the clime, There was a decrease of light intensity. When they went in, they felt fragile and weak. They got the impression that they had hit themselves against the surface of the strange object, but in blink of an eye-lid, a door opened and in another, they were inside.

They did not understand the reason of the separation; perhaps soon they would have an answer. An immense inquisitiveness took hold of them to look for the creatures who commanded the ship. Then, Andbelefy found a pair of gloves made of some organic metal, very light and resistant. Wakanerefy examined them with care, he had never seen a material like this before.

While they didn’t see the Kalhelaws, they looked around the interior of the saucer, which seemed a bare place and without any beauty, The only pretty thing came form the metal call; it was the environmental lighting very well distributed. Then, Wakanerefy saw a passage and said:

‘Look, a door!... Let’s try and open it.’

‘Alright., I hope we’ll have luck!

The door opened before they tried it. Three tall creatures, 1.90 meters tall, black, appeared and as to the rest, they were normal. An enigmatic atmosphere took hold of the environment and one of them in the center, broke the silence and said:

‘Welcome to the VOYAGE ship, your new home. The cosmic year is 222.111.222. Flying time forecast: 300 light-years. I hope you have a good trip!...’

‘Why have you kidnapped us?!’

‘Don’t worry, my boy, in 300 light-years you will have the answer.’

‘Yes, you’re right!...’

The ships began to develop speed. Through a screen, they watched the earth receding. Soon it became a grain of sand in the immensity of the Universe.

Wakanerefy, shocked as the disappearance of his birth planet, asked one of the Kalhelaws:

‘Where are we going to?’

‘To Skalaghadoffiana, an artificial planet. You don’t need to worry, our mission is pacific. I promise: nothing bad will happen to you and, shortly, you will be back!’

‘This is already good news. What do you think Andbelefy?’

‘I don’t know... I only know that we were kidnapped, we are going to an artificial planet and after we will come back home...’

‘You are right, it is the same as knowing nothing!’

‘Excuse our curiosity, she is a female, isn’t she?

‘Yes. Why so much interest?’

‘We haven’t females exist in your planet, for millions of years.’

‘Why don’t females exist in your planet?’

‘Andbelefy, we eliminated the difference long ago. From this point of view, we are all equal. But I can’t tell you which sex prevailed. Would you like to have dinner?’

‘Since we’re here, let’s eat.’

While they accompanied them, they were amazed at the luxury in the other parts of the ship, all decorated in strange metals and covered with abstract figures in relief. After they sat down at special tables and were served some pills of concentrated food.

The dinner did not take long. It was finished after the third capsule. It was strange, but with time, they would get used to it.

‘Well, it’s time to introduce ourselves to you. My name is: Snoffy, the one on the left is Pindillok and the other one is Jananaik, who will tell you about your kidnapping.

‘For thousands of years we have been waiting always circling the Earth in search of intelligent creatures, but unfortunately, at present, no sign exists of rational beings, only the irrational seems to predominate.

Later on, we explored the extension of your Milky Way and found nothing. We returned to the Earth and stayed circling around for another 150.000 years. We found then, a primitive rational creature with surprising characteristics, who used his brain.

The evolution of these beings encouraged us; we waited here we are. I think you have developed tremendously, more so when you changed the course of the little stars. That made it easier for us to put our mission into practice.

In a little while, we will arrive at our birth planet and you will know our civilization. We are more advanced than your culture, but this doesn’t impede contact. You are at a reasonable point of development. You are already taking energy from the atom!’

The conversation continued with Wakanerefy’s questions. They answered some and left aside others. Suddenly. Snoffy said:

‘Well, Wakanerefy! Don’t you love to study the cosmos? Look, there it is!’

‘Yes! it’s really fascinating seeing it form a space ship, but... how do you know?’

‘I can only tell you the following: We have stored in our files all your thoughts. As a matter of fact, you and your father, as real geniuses of the present, had all your mental frequencies recorded and filed.’

‘Thank you for calling us geniuses!’

‘Now, please, come with us?’

‘Where are we going to?’

‘To the next room. I want to show you a small electronic screen.’

When they arrived, they were fascinated with the variety of equipment totally different and wonderfully esthetic. They could see Earth’s image and those of other planets too.’

They checked the distance from their planet: "1.422.789.000 quilometers." The planet Saturn was seen form a distance of 43.011.000 quilometers. At same time, they were amazed at the colors of their rings, so well know and dreamed of by man.

The exposure of this planet was of short duration; the ship was developing a speed of 250.000 quilometers per second. This way, Saturn and five more distant planets would soon be overtaken. One had the clear impression of perfect dancer to the sound of a perpetual concert. it was a unique show.

Jupiter appeared with its immense size and dense atmosphere. Accompanied by its twelve Moons, but due to the angle the ship was in, only six could be seen. The other planets seemed to be stopped and in the center the sun; it had, at this stage, a dull light and without brilliance. It didn’t appear to alter, giving the impression that it was a powerful star. As the ship went towards its destination, the scenery around became magnificent. The stars seemed small points which grew giving even more enchantment to the Universe.

When they looked at the Earth, they saw that its size was that of a grape, so small and fragile. But, one day they would return to read on the land of their origin again.

At this moment, Wakanerefy worried, asked about his mother who had stayed on Earth. they answered that she had been informed of everything and that he could get in contact with her through the Videotrans, at any time. After, calmer, he said:

‘Snoffy, and my father?’

‘He is alright. He is in the other ship, in perfect health, only he is asking many more questions than you are, Wakanerefy.’

When some more hours passed by, they were informed that a robot, mascot of the crew had a breakdown in his circuit, and they would have to land on Neptune Moon, called Addtinim.

 

10. FIRST STOP: ADDTINIM, MOON OF NEPTUNE

The enormous ship arrived at 2.000 meters altitude, it circled several times round the satellite and reduce speed. After, it landed gently on Addtinim soil. Jananaik pressed a control key and, in seconds, opened a little door and went downstairs, giving free access to the surface.

The glove that Andbelefy found became part of the clothes which they donned now, covering the whole body, with the exception of the face which had a transparent visor. With this kind of space-suit, they could go out of the ship.

The other ship continued its course, however with its cruising speed reduced, to facility future equalization. Meantime, the artificial light of the place was switched on through remote control, which was in one of Snoffy’s hand.

At the end of some seconds, the ground moved like a conveyor belt and they were conducted to the interior of a cave. There they found a large number of robots, spread arond inside crystal rectangles, giving the aspect of a museum with several models of them.

Wakanerefy and Andbelefy were amazed at what their eyes saw. During the walk, they noticed the variations of the characteristics from one to another. The most surprising fact was that all were apparently inert, but bore signs of telepathy. Thus the subjects were discussed mentally by the couple and the robots.

This new sensation of communication through telepathy opened new horizons to the young explorers, dazzled in front of so many novelties.

Now, Andbelefy began to enjoy the journey and, at same time, she felt love those creatures who demonstrated so much peace.

In that strange place, there was a clock moved by nuclear fission which, would continue functioning for many centuries. Then, Wakanerefy asked to Snoffy:

‘Please, what is the history and why the existence of all this?’

‘It’s very simple, Milleniums of years ago, some Additinians explored this satellite. it was a group of four astronauts, coming from other parts, in search of radioactive elements, but the ship, when it landed, crashed.

Later on, a patrol found them and, before going down, they verified the counters, which indicated the presence of strong radioactivity. This way, it was discovered that satellite is pacifically made of uranium.

Some further time went by, and new groups came and baptized it with the name of Uramorique 235, but the only way to explore all its mineral riches would be to explode the planet, which could have artificial gravity equipment, regulated to: "28m7g/3 000Kms/999Kms p/Hora = R.A. de 16,8."

Fortunately, one of our patrol ships being near and fearing the unbalancing of the planetary system, did not agree with the explosion plans. There was a big fight and the culprits were removed.

Following, all the operations were suspended and the robots stayed looking after it for centuries. Peace came to rule in Addtinim. Our metallic heroes finished their mission and were put inside crystal and, while there energy exists in their batteries, they will continue their functions.

Our robot, Ropper 997-TT, will be substituted by another, because its duration limit has already been exhausted. This damage is the first sign of the exhaustion. Over there, are robots still intact and unused. You can choose one to be the mascot for our trip.’

The couple, very excited, ran and chose one, but opinions differed. In the end, they chose Gabiteriam 103. Snoffy praised the choice, saying:

‘By the way, you have chosen the most recent and most modern model. Let’s take it to the ship; it’s time to leave.’

When they finished the emergency mission, They switched the robot’s commands on the general control of the ship, transferred the programs and Gabiteriam escorted them.

Before departure, the Addditiniam robots said good-bye telepathically and said they looked forward to the next visit, because they would like to have longer contact with the terrestrial creatures. finally, it had been centuries since they had the satisfaction of contemplating a generation of flesh and bone.

Some more seconds and everything was functioning perfectly. The ship moved end returned to space, in the direction of the unknown artificial planet of the Skalaghadoffians.

 

11. ON COURSE TO THE ARTIFICIAL PLANET

After leaving, Andbelefy commented on the great distance of the satellite from the Sun and the curious fact that it was not cold; the temperature was pleasant and seemed similar to that on Earth.

Snoffy approached and once again with his minute explanations, said:’

‘Female Andbelefy, sorry for the term female. The Addtinim temperature is due to its own nuclear energy, transformed into thermal energy. This was done by the Addtinians, This way the temperature will remain until the end of the life of the radioactive elements of its surface and mass center. That is, more or less nine million years.

As for the robots, they are nothing but commercial explorations of our old civilization, because they were wold or exchanged. Then the drop in sales didn’t justify further modifications and, less still other experiments. Finally, they became redundant: there, you saw a museum of superceded mechanical eletronical entering item without any value. In short, total bankruptcy.’

‘Please, Snoffy. The internal illumination is very strange, it seems to come from all directions and from their own crystal. What causes this phenomena?’

‘Wakanerefy, the energy utilized by us has other principles, parallel to yours. Then, the propagation through transparent bodies.’

‘Thank you. I‘m satisfied with the information.’

‘Like they say on Earth, not at all!’

A general darkness occurred again and new scenes were watched. they were now at a distance of 9.786.420.000 quilometers, the planet Pluto being just a little dot into he Universe. A little later after 11.834.232.000 quilometers, the solar system was already indiscernible and, the more they tried to recognized it, they could only identify the Sun, which the crew, in their celestial map, called Neuchestruns 584. For them, it was only a small dimensional star in comparison to the enigmatic quasi-stars Hovle, a hundred times more brilliant and heavier.

Some more hours went by, when Wakanerefy and Andbelefy, were escorted to a room in the upper part of the ship, where they slept for twelve hours. The Skalaghadoffians continued their duties.

The period of novelties being over, the atmosphere became monotonous for them; a routine environment. To kill time, Jananaik, the ship’s commander, ordered an increase of speed, and thus overtook the light barrier.

The first to wake up was Wakanerefy followed by his companion. When they stood up, they felt the lack of a good shower. They forgot that in space dust does not exist. And so with the passing of time they soon became used to the lack of it. As for teeth, they could brush as they wished.

Then, they were conducted to a very curiously decorated room. There, they were served with some delicacies. After, they watched the beauties of the Universe on a great screen in the wall.Now, already much more familiar.

Then, Snoffy began the projection of a scientific dossier, describing the evolution phases of the planet Earth, from the first appearance of vegetable and animal life. After, a lost of monsters in great fights and with unknown instincts. the winner was always the one who made more use of its muscles that it had, independent of its size or height. The enormous tails helped the animal a lot to beat its antagonists. Thus, it became a potent weapon and a guarantee of success.

Until one day man appeared, a minute creature in size and proportion a little ugly and weak in this physical consistence, because he was not yet adapted to his new environment.

Some thousands of years and two products of this species were in the ship on the way to Skalaghadoffian planet.

At this moment. Andbelefy commented:

‘If man had been born with a tail would it have been easier?’

‘But they would’t have taken the cudgel!’

Both laughed. Andbelefy admitted the inopportune conclusion that she had reached.

And at the end of the projection, a little conversation started. Several ideas were exposed and a lot of opinion discussed. From one moment to another, Pindillok said:’

‘By the way, do you know that fortunately there will be a decrease in our journey time?’

‘Why?’

‘It’s very simple. I verified that the course of your planet is in direction of the Universe evasion, which represents the continued and progressive expansion of the mass in direction of the infinite. And it is in line with our artificial planet, which means, that the direction of our planet is inverse to the mass evasions. In short, the coming is equal to our going; concluding, there is a saving of time, right?

‘Right, I think I understand! for example: In one road of fifteen quilometers there is a car at each end. In this case, the first which leaves to the meet the second would have "X" time to arrive at the other end. On the other hand, if the two vehicles leave at same time, the meeting would be half the value of "X". Am I right?

‘Wakanerefy, it’s almost that. You only forgot , in this example, that the soil also moves itself, altering the result of the "X" time. We moved in the law of relativity. It’s very complex to discuss now. Why don’t we speak about lives?’

Wakanerefy insisted:

‘Wait a minute. You still didn’t explain to me, how do you get this fantastic speed from the ship?’

‘It’s very simple. It’s the same principle that your father used to do his first experiment; that you call of GTS particles. Instead of using nuclear energy as a propulser, we use the gravity as traction...’

"Sorry, but I still don’t understand.’

‘Nuclear energy pushes the ship, gravity is used to attract the ship. We establish a radiant sheaf on a star, and that star attracts the ship. That’s it.’

‘And how do you supersede the speed of light?

‘The speed of light is a limit like any other. When you overshoot it, you are only being faster than then fóton. It’s a limit, but not insurmountable. When you reach the light speed, the ship seems to be a light for whom sees it. But when this line is superseded everything comes back to the like it was before, only that it becomes invisible and leaves behind it a tail of light like a comet. It’s like breaking the sound barrier; at the moment of breaking, the ship feels an impact, after, everything goes back to normal and the sound follows the ship.’

‘And when you are on the surface of a planet, how do you get out?’

‘Then, we invert the gravity. Thus like the proton which has it equivalent negative which is the electron, the GTS particle has its equivalent. Using the GTS on the planet surface, you create an anti-gravity and the ship is throw out.

‘What you mean is that you use the two factors to move yourselves in space?’

‘Yes, and it isn’t only this. We work with several radiant sheaf's at the same time, several stars are attracting us and several ones are pushing us. All depends on the direction which we want to take.’

And why don’t you use nuclear energy?’

‘We only use it on small scale, because it has several inconveniences: it is dirty, it infects all that is around; also, it alters the material which could become unstable; besides, the energy used is lost, and is not recovered. With the GTS particle the contrary happens; you use it, and after it goes back to the atom of origin, ready to be used again at any time. There is no loss, you can say that is is infinite.’

‘And why does it happen?’

‘If you throw a grain of corn into space, it stays by itself, but if you throw more than one, they will all join up and stay together; it is the gravity. This force draws the material together and increases in proportion to the increase of weight of the material.

If this was the only force that existed. The Universe would be one sphere of substance,but nuclear energy exists which expands material. This way you can think that the Universe is the equilibrium between these two energies: the nuclear and radiant; and the other much calmer which joins the substance: gravity.

Your GTS particle, as you say, it like love, attracts constantly and moves stars!’

Wakanerefy accepted defeat. A long time passed by and everybody took part in the subject about the existence of both. Wakanerefy told then very calmly about the good and bad adventures of his life. When Andbelefy’s turn came, a lot of things were made known about the period previous to her courtship. It gave the impression of a game; the debate and the intimacies uncovered.

The Skalaghadoffians liked to talk very much. They thought the word court very amusing and its consequences. Still more interesting were the artificies for the conquest of a female, the showing of desire, kindness and etc... They were things they had never heard of before, but they were happy to know that love still existed in the Universe.

Wakanerefy sometimes was thoughtful and worried with the decrease of the distance from his destination and for being in hands of such highly develop beings, absolute donors of the situation. This way, there was a certain doubt about everything that they said. Only with the passing of time would he know the real intention of the Skalaghadoffians.

Five light-years went by without any novelty. The ship continued to travel in the direction of its home planet. Now, they were already beside the other ship.

Then, a strange sound was heard, which indicated that the second ship was awaiting an answer to its call. Pindillok went to the command cabin. When he arrived, he received a message about Hokerh. Shocked, be stood up and came towards the others. In his language he told the news to his fellows. They must now prepare Wakanerefy for the message.

A few more minutes of rehearsal and after Jananaik said:

‘Dear Wakanerefy, I hope you don’t feel hate or resentment...’

‘But. what’s the problem?’

‘It’s about your father...’

‘What has happened to my father?!!’

‘He is dead!’

‘No, it’s not possible, did you kill him?’

‘Please Wakanerefy, your father’s death was caused by a disturbance in the circulatory system of his brain...’

‘No, it’s not true. The death of a man who was everything to me, apart from that, my dear father. It’s not possible, it can be true!’

‘Wakanerefy, I really don’t know anything more!’

‘Please, be calm. I know Wakanerefy, how it is difficult for you, to receive the news of your father’s death. Pay attention, the causes are very simple and easy to understand; the life of a terrestrial human beings is limited by nature, depending on the use and misuse of the organism in its natural limitations.

Your father during his life made maximum use of his brain, being trained to advance quicker than you. Thus, we passed on to him more information than to you. But his curiosity was too intense and he finished up by exhausting the brain. But it’s no problem. He is in suspension now and I promise that when arrive at Skalaghadoffiana. I will bring your father back to life. Believe me.’

‘Cant I really believe your words?’

‘Yes, you can, and I insist on proving it to you shortly.

Wakanerefy and Andbelefy though such words were a way to keep them calm. However, Snoffy gently explained the technological advances of his people; thus, they could believe it.

Little by little, the couple verified that good intentions were true and that they did everything to make them believed in their words. Later on, they went back to their beds to rest a little; but, before sleeping, Wakanerefy reflected for some time about what was happening.

When be came to a conclusion, he spoke to Andbelefy, to exchange opinions.

Gabirentian, the mascot robot brought with him the food for their dinner. They exchanged some ideas with the robot about everything. The sensation of speaking to a pre-programmed metallic being was extraordinary.

Some-light-months passed by. They had put in the guest room two micro-electronic screens, transmitting the progress of the journey and allowed the couple contact with their respective families on the Earth.

Suddenly, they noticed on the screen the presence of a weak and fragile dot of light, that little by little increased its size. Its intensity grows more and more. Andbelefy got frightened because she thought it was a comet coming towards he ship. Wakanerefy got worried, because he didn’t receive any information.

At each moment, the strange luminosity came nearer. The ship continued at its normal speed. Then suddenly, a rough short stop, as if to wait the passing of light. After, the ship began to follow it, they did a half turn and came back on the previous course and increased speed in an unusual way.

The curiosity of both was soon satisfied, when they saw the first ship, which had come back and now they went off together. After this brief fright, walking through the saucer, Andbelefy found a very delicate rectangular box, the size of the palm of her hand. Wakanerefy interested, picked it up form her hands. He examined it caution the existence of four buttons in the lower part and two buttons on the other. When he pressed the first button, pages of a book appeared. When he touch another, the page turned to the following and so on.

Later on, Andbelefy suggested that he pressed a key located in the upper part of the instrument. The surprise was amazing, because the same book now became animated with figures and scenes, with a voice which narrated the whole story. In reality, it was a great development for a book, almost with the same dimensions as the originals.

The four buttons on the front part were:

1. Page Control.
2. Audition Volume Control.
3. Color-Tone Control.
4. Screen synchronizing Control.

And the two buttons on the inverse part were:

5. Magnetic Micro-Band Control.
6. Forward and Rewind Control.

Everything worked on a miniature atomic electric battery. Really, one the most sophisticated literary versions that they had ever seen.

Some hours later, the Skalaghadoffians entered Wakanerefy’s room and said they were sorry for the incident. They explained the existence of a technical problem in one of the ships; now, they would continue together to avoid any eventuality.

More days went by, Wakanerefy found a microdisk called: Skalaghadoffians. Curious, he walked to Snoffy, to ask about it. When Snoffy was questioned, he answered that the documentary was good and Wakanerefy would learn a little about the origin of his people.

He came back to Andbelefy and watched the documentary, which right at the beginning, called the viewers attention to the conquest of space.

It told that in age of the great explorations of the Cosmos made by the Sakalaghadoffians, once upon a time they saw a planet which had conditions to be inhabited and be explored. When they flew over the region, they found a great number of monster. They would only have to exterminate this generation and, without much effort, could land and claim the planet.

The two discoverers came back to Skalaghadoffians and when they arrived, they communicated the discovery of the planet to everyone which could shelter everybody for millions of years.

The same day, a fabulous squadron went off to the planet. When they arrived they were surprised at the large number of primitive creatures that they were waiting for them and transformed themselves every second, in an exhibition for the recently arrived; a defense of mother nature; their bodies became shiny, getting so bright as to disturb the sign of the invaders, who were practically blinded and could not see.

Then, a large number of the other animals arrived and the atmosphere became full of brilliance, beautiful at a distance, but terrible close up. While they didn’t reduce the intensity, the explorers became immobilized, and couldn’t move even an inch.

The local inhabitants, making use of telepathy, advised all of them to go back to their planet to avoid complications. The alternative, was to look for another planet.

Leaving there, they made further explorations in space, leave those strange creatures in peace and tranquility. Evidently, their own nature protected them form the conquers invasion.

At the end of the disk, Andbelefy clapped hands with enthusiasm thinking the story fascinating. There was no doubt both would take some years to watch all the discs of documentaries and stories of that civilization.

Inside the ship, the speed was not felt, even though it was superior to that of light. Time ran normally, however outside the years were passing by more quickly. Physically, they were normal but, psychologically little problems for both the novices, because they had a kind of cerebral nausea. Thus, they were called to a room which they didn’t know.

When they arrived, the door was closed and Andbelefy was carefully put on a table. A small instrument was put some twenty five centimeters from her head. Soon the operation began.

Wakanerefy, interested, paid attention to the handling of the equipment. At this stage, he asked Snoffy:

‘What is the effect? How does it work?’

‘The effect is to put an end to the cause. The system is that electronic complex. In fact, an emitter of waves in the frequency of the human mind. Through it, it looks for the wave band which is causing the traumas.

When the damaging frequency is located and balanced, we substitute the chemistry structure of the neurons for another. This way, we eliminate definitely the mental disturbance, without affecting the bio-chemistry balance.’

‘Thank you, Snoffy. I admire your technology.’

‘Thank you. Ah, it’s your turn... I’ll see you later.’

‘See you...’

Andbelefy gave her place to Wakanerefy, and, now stopped to admire the operation details. Snoffy gave explanations of the operation to her.

When they finished, by way of precaution, both were put on a bed, covered by a fine crystal. Then, they gave the last information about hibernation. The rest of the journey they would be sleeping and would be woken up when they arrived. Thus, they wouldn’t have any new problems and would be rested on arrival.

However, during the hundred light-years of the journey, the Skalaghadoffians continued to work. Jananaik didn’t leave his controls, as it was part of his existence and, at same time, it occupied him. The others, hibernating, or looked for other ways of physical and spiritual satisfaction.

The hibernation had finished, and now only a short while was left to the great arrival. Practically revived, they felt very well and happy to have come back to life; also faith on the Hokerh operation increased more and more.

There was no more monotony and they got excited when they were advised that the ship on the other side would make a coupling and that their crew would come on board.

As soon as the news confirmed, everybody prepared for the reception. At the same time, Snoffy told them about the exchange of presents with the visitors: it was a ritual of welcome. And from them, both were worried about the choice of gifts and curious about knowing a new kind of people.

The speed reduced and, from the command cabin, the time for the beginning of the coupling was advised. Wakanerefy chose a watch to offer as gift. Andbelefy preferred the ear-rings which she had received from a friend, during her school years.

After some minutes, they went to the place where they were to meet visitors. The operation was not a customary one and at 295.999 quilometers per second, it need complete calmness, even though all being done automatically.

When the regressive count-down was finished four metal square shaped beams, 2,30 meters long each, came out from the right side of the other ship.

A few more minutes and they locked into holes on the other ship. This done, the ships remained connected by an electromagnetic force, which kept the beams in their places.

The first part was finished. Now there remained the glass that would run on rails along the beams and the protection against cosmic radiation would be guaranteed. Soon, one could see the glass running along the rails until it touched softly against the opposite ship.

When the operation was completely concluded, a door, giving access for two Skalaghadoffians opened. Soon, the two figures came out and went towards the other door which opened automatically on their approach.

When they entered, they were greeted and an exchange of presents was realized. Again the same amazement as before; their wonder at being face to face with a female.

The taller was called Pitikka; the other, Pixxuco. And after a little pause, they thanked them for the presents which they had received, Pixxuco said:

‘Our many thanks for the reception and, especially being so near to your destination, but the farce has finished here. Our physical appearance is fictitious, it is only in your mind and it was done not to shock you.’

When I finish these words, we will take our prop shape. I want to say that you are taking part in an entwines and complex project of our race.

All our spiritual and technological knowledge will be passed to you. This is because we have arrived at a critical point of evolution. And we can disappear. But, before this, we want to leave our inheritance to another intelligent race.

When we inherited this knowledge, we developed very quickly and now we are ahead of our mission and we need to conclude it, which will cause the death of our civilization and the destruction of our world. This way, when man arrives at the same level of evolution, he must go in search of an inferior civilization and, when he finds it, try to communicate and afterwards pass the secrets of the Universe, which will culminate with the end of the earthen and, so ad infinitum.

When he finished, a long silence fell over them, Wakanerefy reflected and felt the weight of the reality of the new facts; he finally understood the kidnapping and all the sequence of facts.

Suddenly, with a sleight-of-hand, the images of the alien bodies disappeared, with only spheres suspended in the air remaining and moving one side to another, talking, hearing, seeing.

Wakanerefy and Andbelefy were shocked at the corporal transmutation scenes. Only after the passing of some hours did they begin to accept the real situation.

Telepathy was now a constant element for the continuation of communication. Later on, the couple, more adapted, were invited to visit the other ship. The change of environment would be beneficial and very useful to the morale of the youngsters.

Some minutes and the door opened, giving way and free access to the other ship. Everybody, with the exception of Jananaik, went to the ship.

Wakanerefy and Andbelefy admired the variety of equipment on board. The pictures, of metallic relief, a wonderful tri-dimensional projection with their own colors.

After knowing the whole ship and suffering from seeing Hokerh’s body resting in a crystal rectangle, Wakanerefy could’t wait for the moment of his revival. Andbelefy said kind things trying to lift up his depression. Then she tried to take him out the place and went back to the ship escorted by four spheres.

Little time was left until the end of the trip and, to compensate the energy used. Wakanerefy and Andbelefy were taken again to the special operation room. They were to receive, through a four cavity needle some concentrated liquids for the organic balancing of vitamins and other chemical compositions to compensate that wasted in space. This last operation was called W 892/1995.

At this end of the trip. Andbelefy was always surrounded by the spheres, she insisted on accompanying her. Wakanerefy didn’t mind, because who could be jealous of walking spheres? Finally, he had to agree with their natural curiosity, because woman to them was as inexistant creature. Pittikka, at the stage, created the phrase:

‘Woman, this all wonderful!’

In the relaxed environment, finally the date drew near; one week to go. Pitikka and Pixxuco went back to the other ship for the final preparations.

The expectation was general. Finally, the great moment of the first earthmen to descend on the extra-terrestrial planet.

 

12. ARRIVAL AT THE ARTIFICIAL PLANET

Fours hours to go. The unknown planet was already is sight on the monitor screens: it glowed a tenuous orange light, due to the material which it was made.

Wakanerefy could not keep himself calm, because his nervousness and interest him; he seemed as though he could not support the happens that took hold of his body. For the first time he bit his fingernails making Andbelefy more nervous than ever. To break down the anxiety, they talked:

‘What do you think of the general appearance of the planet?’

‘I don’t know, its surface is solid and continuous, not showing any sign of relief. So they must live inside the planet... what do you think about the idea?’

‘I think you are right. Curious... Life inside the planet! It is artificial!’

‘Pay attention, dear! Five minutes to land.’

‘Are you sure that is is just a simple landing?

‘Well, I didn’t want to say that... I wanted to say that we were arriving and were going to land - only I do not know where or how!’

‘It’s evident that it must to be in some place, but I don’t know in what manner!’

‘Look Wakanerefy, that light...’

Suddenly, the planet luminosity became stronger, worrying their eyesight and Snoffy said:

‘You’d better cover eyes; it is a routine inspection. In a few minutes the intensity will diminish. Don’t worry!’

‘Thank you, but please advise us when we can uncover our eyes.’

When the inspection finished, the light went back to normal and Snoffy told them both they could already take their hands from their eyes. Now, everybody was in a good humor. Speed was reduced and regressive counting was made:

‘Ten... Nine... Eight... Seven, a hole opened on the surface and sixteen ships came towards them and escorted them to the entrance.’

‘Six... Five... Four... Three... Two... One... Zero... retrocession! A great moment! The first internal sight was fantastic! Really, a very developed and strange world! They had the impression of floating in the projection of a conical tube.

Millions of boloides all over the scenery. They gave a special touch to the dazzling picture of the planet’s horizon.

The wonderful illumination came from its own element which covered it.There was no atmosphere and the visitors were obriged to use clothes of organic metal.

There was no sign of vegetation, only some rare specimens were preserved in crystal tubes, with a certain dosage of element for the continuation of life under artificial conditions. Snoffy said:

‘It’s going to tell you how we built his planet, but first, how we got here.

‘Millions of years ago in a planet which by coincidence belongs to the solar system, the first Skalaghadoffian was born. His coming to the world was preceded by other species of animals close and far from his original type.

Some time later, the races evolved and there was several crossings and indications of intelligence had already been noticed. The rational animals separated from the irrational and went out to look for new means and conquests.

With the passing of the centuries, some races were extinguished forever. But a small number of Skalaghadoffians opened up new horizons more and more.

A great number of crossings were made and a new type was formed; his evolution was accelerated disproportionately. From that date on, this kind would predominate in space and time.

With their development, they lost all their hair. Two kinds formed this culture: the adepts of mental power and those with physical power. Both wanted to dominate at the same time.

The fight was deviating, but in the end, both asked for the peace, because there was almost nothing left. They went over to following one ideal: the quick evolution of both strains. But due to their weakness, the planet was dominated by another primitive race. In this fight, few survived, hidden in previously dug caves and hide-outs.

The primitives who lived on the surface learned to use everything that they found and, in a little time they reached the level of evolution of the Skalaghadoffians and continued to evolve, overtaking them. Eventually, they founded space centers and developed all the technology of space fight. And they went out to conquer new planets.

The cave inhabitants developed more slowly, but when they noticed that the surface was abandoned, they went up and began to develop more quickly, establishing, again, complete dominion of the surface. With time, they also developed the space technology and began to explore new planets. But they had still the memory of the fights and sufferings through which they had passed. And when they felt stronger and mature, they made an oath, that they wold never get involved in conquest fights; on the contrary, they swore to help all beings less developed in the Universe, who showed some level of intelligence. This oath has been followed for millions of years and we are the heirs of this knowledge, which will be pass on to you. We adopted the name of Skalaghadoffians by inheritance from the race, which originated this oath.

But everything was not always tranquil. Several times we found warlike species who wanted to dominate the Universe. And we were near to being exterminated for not being prepared continually to fight.

 

Thus, we had to invent something, so as not to be surprised, because we never knew the kind of weapon that the enemy would use. So, the idea of creating an artificial planet arose, because living on the surface of other planets, we would always be exposed to outside attacks.

During this period a metal called GROISSE was discovered, which could support fantastic temperatures, with out modifying its molecular structure. And this metal has the propetery of sating bright with a small electric current. From the theoretical project to the realization, was just a step. With the domination of your GTS particle, it is possible to dislocate the planet in space and put it in any galactic system, thus avoiding eventual enemies.

From then on, we began to search the Universe for primitive civilizations to give continuity to the oath.

Suddenly, Snoffy interrupted his explanation, because they were near to the Skalaghadoffy’s dwelling, the leader and oldest boloide. When they had covered the distance, they were surprised with all that they saw, but they were unable to describe all that wonderful architecture to themselves.

Wherever they walked, part of the floor moved by itself at a moderate speed. The spheres made an immense crowd all wanting to know the visitors.

At last, the arrived at the Skalaghadoffy dwelling. At the same time, Wakanerefy noticed the other crew, who were bringing a crystal rectangle with Hokerh inside, who would be transported immediately to the special operation room sector MN 2244.

Wakanerefy was happy at the knowledge that his father would be soon recovered and awaited with anxiety.

Some more minutes and they were in front of the oldest inhabitant of the planet: Skalaghadoffy. Wakanerefy and Andbelefy had the pleasure of knowing the master of that electronic people. His age: a million and a half years old. He was the most perfect live symbol of a race worthy of credit.

While he contemplated the earthmen, the sphere rose into space and circled around them and emitted a telepathic message:

‘Welcome, foreigners... This house is yours. We are awaiting the presence of your father to start the conversation. Please, monitors. I want to see the operation to be realized in the room MN 2244.’

‘Of course, sir.’

‘Wakanerefy, wait a minute and your father will be here at our side.’

‘Good hear you’

‘He will listen, you can be sure.’

‘I trust in your people!. ‘

The transmission equipment was ready; on the screens they watched the preparations for the operation which would revive Hokerh and, also, repair any cerebral damage.

After ten minutes, everything was finished with success. The first slow movements were noticed and then little by little, Hokerh woke up and wanted know where he was and what had happened to him.

Wakanerefy grasping, couldn’t control himself.It was a real miracle! Skalaghadoffy congratulated the people who had done the operation.

The monitors showed scenes of the surgical center. Hokerh eager to know about everything, exchanged generalities with his new friends. In the end, they walked to the old leader’s room, who was waiting to greet him alive.

The doors opened and Wakanerefy ran towards his father and they hugged each other. The spheres observed patiently that remarkable moment. Tears come to the faces of the humans, leaving the inhabitants aghast, because they had never seen tears before. And for some minutes they watched the emotional scene.

Hokerh knelt down in front of Skalaghadoffy, thanking him for bringing him back to life. He, in spite of this modest recognition, said:

Earthmen, it is not necessary to thank... your mission will be important and decisive. It is necessary that you be alive. Now, listen to the real reason of your presence here and the kidnapping from your normal environment.

We have not done this out of evil, nor for revenge but, yes, to keep a promise made by my people. We have to accomplish it. We are at the edge of death; the time for our disappearance is near.

Our generation is at such a point of evolution that we are obliged to go away. Our next stage is pure energy and then we will be unable to get in contact with live beings anymore.

Your planet of origin: Olliver’s 22 733, for you, Earth, was chosen as our successor and we will give all out secrets and technology to your people. And when you arrive at the same maximum point of evolution, you will have to accomplish the promise by going away in search of new primitive civilizations and will give them all the necessary assistance, so that their heirs can continue.

When you have conducted your work, your civilization, like ours, will transform also into energy, and, this way, you will be together with God, without leaving any trace of your existence and thus perpetually as in an infinite cycle.’

When he finished his speech, silence predominated. They were astonished at the advanced ideas told by that creature who had the experience of a million and half years. There were no doubts as no his words.

Later on the conversation took a more relaxed course and during this they learnt the history of the physical evolution of those people, told by Cinozan, one of the spheres who was also one of Hokerh’s operators:

‘Our people were developing physically, up to the point when the brain took up almost the whole of the head. The food, in this period, was already synthetic, but we still depended on it and our life cycle was short like your.

We arrived at the point that there would be no more apparent physical evolution. We developed, then, micro-surgery of the chromosomes and we began to alter genetic inheritances. It was not difficult to arrive at this spherical form, which is constituted mostly of neurons as you had already noticed. The difficult thing was to discover a way of practical locomotion. There was a factor outside genetics. It was then that we dominated the complete cycle that you call GTS particle.

Then, we altered certain genes so that our spherical form could accept this source; the neurons did the rest. Our form was also not determined by chance. If you look at the Universe, you will see that all the bodies assume this form. Even you call it: "Perfect Form."

Thus, when we altered the form of our body, the sphere was a natural result. Apart from this, in the whole Universe, the sphere is generated by the GTS particle and it is considered the last stage of form.

The most sensitive instrument which your bodies have, is the eye. And it already has this form. And it is through it that your recognize the image of the Universe and acquire knowledge; the other senses are only assistants.

Now, you can understand our form; it is all eyes, all brain; all sensitive; all knowledge. But we have to go ahead. Try to understand: the brain works with energy;

the neuron interaction is more energy than chemical and we, day by day, become more energetic than material.

It is near the time that we will have to leave this form, to become total energy. Who knows, in the limits of the Universe, this energy may come back to be substance and form another primitive being again. We don’t know, but the behavior of the particles and of the energy in the atom interior, lead us to suppose that behind all this is a Superior Intelligence. We will only know when we arrive there.’

Tears dropped from the eyes of Andbelefy. Really, they were profound words and reached the heart of both of them. Wakanerefy, on the other hand, was confused, with

a whirlpool of ideas. After all, a total introspection of the womb of unknown origin.

Eight hours after, the session ended, the visitors were conducted to their beds, for a well deserved rest. Skalaghadoffy retired himself to his dwelling, saying that he had many things to do.

All the spheres went away and awaited the wakening of the foreigners, to exchange ideas and get to know the manners and customs of the earthmen.

After twelve hours, they were conducted to the war squadron; enormous ships of various shapes lined up in the hangars. They were real monsters, a massive defense strength. Farther on, space attack ships, with slender lines, equipped with several kinds of mortal ray guns.

Hokerh, intrigued, asked:

‘Why these weapons, if you don’t need them?’

‘Really, we don’t need them, but they are used to discourage out enemies from fighting. When not, only to intimidate them. We don’t destroy anybody.

With this display, we avoid a real war. The enemy in general only believes in what he sees. Words always get lost in space.’

Then, they arrived in a poorly illuminated place, where they found the bodies of the last scientists who had created the spheres. They were humans and this left them interested. They were some ten thousand men distributed systematically and covered by a fine layer of crystal.

Then they went to other places and flew over a great area of the planet. Without doubt, novelties appeared at each moment; emotions were experienced, a real and wonderful sensation for the sight of all human eyes.

For the Skalaghadoffians, within their philosophy, the only hope was to know that their disappearance would not be in vain and a pleasure to have in mind the concrete help for the developing of a civilization, which would give continuity to their ideal.

Between one conclusion and another, the visitors delighted in the pleasure of knowing all that complex of technology and engineering. Instruments and equipment never before imagined, was before their eyes, like shopwindows with free access to the future, seemingly like a time machine.

When they finished, they went back to the rooms to eat and to have a rest. When they lay down, they heard a melodic sound in low volume. Little by little it increased, until it arrived at an atmosphere of peace, similar to the electronic classic music, with sounds above the conventional music scale, probably with electronic instruments that they did not know.

With the passing of time, they discovered a musical relationship even stronger than that know on Earth. Finally, they concluded that they were identical, which meant, or copied or originals form authors of the last century.

With the melodic sound so soft, they soon slept. Meantime, all the people were in conference and making their last plans. Skalaghadoffy communicated coldly that the mission was near its end and the best to do was to find exciting pastimes and relieve their spirits because this time they knew they had a limited time left,and they would have greater pleasure and better performance in intensively delighting their feelings.

A few hours later, the visitors woke up and soon found their friends to tell them about the sound that then had listened to and soon they knew that it was a transcription in microtape of frequencies recorded from the sideral space, probably. coming from waves that escaped form terrestrial atmosphere.

Then, Wakanerefy went in search of Skalaghadoffy. When he found him, said:

‘Maximum Being. I wish to marry; would it be possible to carry out the ceremony here?’

‘Hey, boy, what do you mean by marry? I don’t know this word.’

‘Alright. Marriage is a religious act which joins two people conscious of their love. It is an act where other people take part in the ceremony, for the public consecration of it...’

The explanation was long and detailed. Skalaghadoffy thought the word very funny, as marriage had not existed for millions of years. Anyway, as the idea was possible, the old leader didn’t put any obstacles so the ceremony, only the natural preoccupation in adapting it to the new scenery of time and space.

The news spread; in less than twenty minutes, and everyone knew about it and the marriage was arranged to take place in the next few hours. Andbelefy, surprised, got very happy and Hokerh felt proud at the position assumed by his son.

The manifestations started, everybody worried to making the ceremony as good as possible. the spheres consulted their files; the information terminals were full. Without wanting to, a simple word had revolutionized the Skalaghadoffians’ way of living.

Every moment, as each new discovery, the boloides demonstrated a gesture of kindness. Soon, the engaged couple were visited and congratulated and even presents were given to them. The crowd of spheres took hold of every corner of the place.

Interested, but their indifference had disappeared completely. All were excited in search of ornaments for the internal decoration of the place where the ceremony would take place. Skalaghadoffy would be the master of ceremonies the number one of his planet.

For the young couple, the idea of a marriage in an artificial planet, celebrated by a sphere of a million years old, was, without doubt, wonderful.

While each one was taking care of all the details to create an unforgettable scene, the ceremony was to start very soon.

Millions of Skalaghadoffians were arriving at the determined place. The good taste, the touch of futurism without precedent, dominated improvised scenery everywhere.

At the exact moment of starting, a wonderful semi-electronic sound came from the upper part of the creatures brian, followed by a choir interpreting "Hallelujah-Halleluja". Colored ships flew over, throwing down petals and small colored confetti of light bright metal.

When the music lowered and all the ecstasy of the opening was concluded, Skalaghadoffy said:

‘People! We are reliving an epic of our ancestors. In fact, to human creatures, the apogees off maturity is followed by the union of two beings who love each other. Due to this instinct, when they marry they become one person.

Happiness is conquered with time. The companionship generates greater affection between the couple, contributing strongly to the ties which envelopes them and the obedience to their oath until the death separates them. This way, they arrive at conjugal perfection.

I want you to know: love is still the most beautiful feeling in the world and - why not? - in all the universe! It is wonderful to know that beings exist who love physically and spiritually other beings of his specie.

This way we must avoid that discouragement takes hold of us and we must try to, in the consolidation of our life today, through our knowledge, face up in a better way to the situations lived by our ancestors and caught by surprise, perhaps this may be a kind of test in our existence.

What we see, is the consequence natural enough of the supremacy of human instinct and a succession of obedience to other laws and not a simple passive subjection to the wishes of man.

Marriage is the oldest institution know by our forefathers. A beautiful necessity for all glorious races. We are face to face with the facts and their consummation, in a relationship which will be the pleasure of the body and the spirit.

I, Skalaghadoffy, superior of all the Skalaghadoffians, declare you: Husband and Wife, until physical death separate you!’

A total silence come down on everyone. The engaged couple were put, each one, on the upper surface of a thin cylinder crystal tube. His arms raised up, Wakanerefy his companion’s hand.

Soon after they heard a delightful electronic sound. At this, all the spheres made flying movements, circular and continuos, around the engaged couple and, at same time, they sent messages of congratulations. They were pleased to have had the chance of knowing a wedding as was the custom of the ancestors.

When the ceremony was finished, the couple was conducted to a special wing, in order to spend their honey-moon. Now, at least, they would be free of everyone. For more than a week, they would lead a life in common, in an incoming place.

The environment was different, but the important thing was the link between them. With the passing of the days, kindness and love lead them to maximum love! Finally, physical and spiritual adaptation was attained.

Then, is this spirit, the methodical consequence of the acts and daily reflexes of the existence of two beings. The idealism's, hitherto sheltered by a natural inhibition of esteem and love, were now unveiled.

In this series of phases, the honey-moon was little by little becoming an enchanted cycle of pleasure and customary unions. Some came to be modified, others on the contrary, remained.

Unable to be avoided, the coming of a son in the artificial planet world became a moment awaited by the spherical creatures, who were now to have one more chance of knowing the way that nature reserved for humans and their ancestors, means of their reproduction. Proud, they watched the process which put in evidence the primateriality of their own.

Hokerh, with immense pride, became a very haughty grandfather who didn’t lose one moment to play with his grandson.

The Skalaghadoffians felt a great admiration for the child; their lives had a new meaning. Their programs became full; something was happening.

Not long afterwards the exploit was repeated, but this time it was a beautiful girl. Thus, with a little couple, they considered they had satisfied themselves in respect of children.

The spheres had in the girls a new universe of fascination. The two children were a time of happiness for all.

The little boy received the name of: Waherdoffy Templeyn Towmmor; the girl of Gewaffy Templeyn Towmmor. They had beautiful physique and developed very well.

The years passed, the children were reared and educated through the intermediary of all the electronic complex. The teachers were substituted by robots and great exposures on the monitors for alphabetization and apprenticeship.

Into the studies all true technical and spiritual information was inserted. Nothing had been forgotten. The lack of fantasy did not bring any problem to them. during all the course, the parents had free access to their children.

There was no doubt, nature had given them little differences which tended to make them more like extinct creatures of Skalaghadoffians, than to their terrestrial parents, their real origin.

The cultural electronic environment added to the influence of the planet customs, played an important part in the children’s formation. The parents felt reattributed. they saw in front of them, a new side of intellect and remarkable personality

Six years went by and another male child was born, called Hogeely Templeyn Towmmor. The bringing up of the sons ran its normal way.

The brothers played together and one day they resolved to go to the sub-soil. A boloide let them enter the place where experimental radiation was carried out.

When they went down, Georhely dropped his intercommunicate on the floor, it broke. When he picked up the pieces, Hogeely, more nervous than his brother, let go of his hands and went towards one of the machines, which could destroy him in a second. The child not realizing the danger, tried to touch the key of disintegration, but was saved by the rapid defensive action of the robot Xeccorin 1 633Z, who didn’t escape from the fulminating radiation.

The children, shocked, ran to their father’s room. When they arrived, Gewaffy shaking told about the tragic accident, because Xeccorin was the mascot robot, his father’s favorite.

Andbelefy arrived and after hearing the story understood what had happened, advising that next time to take more care in their walks and entertainment's.

Later on, Skalaghadoffy ordered that a simple ceremony in homage of Teccorin’s memory be made. the planet stopped all activities for a period of twenty-four hours.

Skalaghadoffy, then, went to visit the family. When he arrived he found all sitting down, and very sad. They were not crying, but the silence demonstrated lamentation and mourning.

The old leader went towards Hokerh, saying:

‘I understand what you are feeling; it was only a programmed machine, not a human being.’

‘I understand, but it still was a being, and worse still, it could have been my son!’

‘But it wasn’t, this is the reality. Nobody dominates the time line, nobody!’

‘I know. Keep your love for another machine. Give this opportunity to another.’

‘I think you are right, but, you cannot blame me for what I feel at the moment.’

‘Ok, don’t get depressed. I hope this has only been a little misfortune in your lives. I hope that the future will reserve better things for you.’

‘Thank you, skalaghadoffy. Your comfort is very important to me.’

‘It was nothing, Wakanerefy. I am only doing what I please and to give you my backing is something very compensatory to me.’

‘You have my and my wife promise that shortly we will feel much better.’

‘I am happy to hear this.’

When the visit finished, during all the mourning period, no being communicated with any other. It was really a total silence.

The establish time having passed and everything same back to normal. The Towmmor family give continuity to their plans and projects; slowly they progressed in their efforts in favour of the earthmen.

Skalaghadoffy explained to them that is wouldn’t be possible to transmit all the knowledge at one time here in this artificial planet. They would have to go back to Earth, utilize and develop all that they were learning and, as they dominated certain stages, they would receive further information to continue advancing.

Hokerh understood soon and started to work arduously, developing thoughts and projects of machines, but Wakanerefy, more anxious, didn’t stop asking questions. he would want to know the complete cycle of the GTS particle, as well as the domination of anti-substance and an infinity of other things.

The spheres replied that they didn’t want to provoke a cerebral breakdown, as had happened to his father and that he had to have patience. Wakanerefy worried himself at the preoccupation of the boloides, but after his good humor came back and he continued to work.

During one of the studies, a time was set to go back to Earth. In a little while, they embarked in the original ships, but this time, they went back escorted by more flying saucers.

 

13. EPILOG

One hundred fifty light-years went by. At this stage, one more child was born, this time a female. She was baptized with the name of Maravill’s Templeyn Towmmor. her dazzling beauty was admired and commented by all.

Andbelefy admired her, with such brightness in her eyes and so much beauty and subtleties of features. The father, more dazzling yet, said she was beautiful because she born amongst the stars.

Skalahadoffy reported to her parents, that in this files there was a fable that in very five million years, a creature of female sex would be born of great beauty and possessor of divine gifts. She would not have a long life, but her memory would be unforgettable to the conscious world; after another would come and thus forever more.

Wakanerefy commented on his doubts in respect to the mentioned fable. Andbelefy, on the contrary, got thoughtful, in search of an adequate answer, said:

‘Dear! Your age in believing in fantastic stories has already gone by. After all, a fable is a fable and doesn’t have any relation to reality. Stop being silly, or then, are you trying to convince me that your daughter is not yours and, yes the Universe, her father.’

‘It’s true, I think you’re right.’

‘You see, it’s only a question of logic.’

‘Only, don’t forget, we are all form the same origin: the Universe.’

‘You’re sure. Let’s put these ideas aside. If we continue thinking. We are only going to have doubts and problems.’

‘You’re sure. What would I be without you?’

‘A lonely scientist.’

‘Which is the truth!’

‘You’re a lovely creature, even with the four hundred years. This is love!’

‘Lord! It’s true! The pleasure of being immortal, even temporarily, gives us a feeling of one day having the liberty to ask for death as a choice.’

‘What are you getting at?’

‘Nothing! I’ve already got it. Immortality is as infinite nightmare. Death, a finite nightmare.’

‘Oh lord! What spiritual depth!’

In an affectionate manner, the conversation took another direction. Some jokes were exchanged; little by little, they laughed and made plans for the arrival.

The routine of hibernation's followed. Now, they arrived at the edge of the Milky Way. They felt the sensation of being at home and, a few more hours, and their dream was realized.

At same time, due to the approximation of the solar system planets, some ships went out to find confirmation that everything was clear.

They came back in a few hours; the access was free. Skalaghadoffy ordered that the last preparations be made and sent peaceful messages, advising that they were transporting human beings.

Then, all the Towmmor family were conducted to a special ship, destined to land on terrestrial soil. After the green signal, the operation was realized without problems.

From the earthmen, nobody could contain their excitement for the moment. Through the screens, the shape of their birth place was noticed in its minimum details.

Wakanerefy’s sons asked a lot of questions, but, full of strong emotions, he could hardly speak or describe signs, so anxious was he to tread on terrestrial soil again.

During the short journey, Skalaghadoffy went over in review all the details and programs of consolidation of his people. the approximation was made. When they arrived at the atmosphere, they made several turns round the Earth.

At the last turn, they went down and landed, the frustration was violent. Unhappily, no sign of life. Only the gruesome sight of ruins belonging to a civilization. Chaos was felt all over the place.

A doubt was in the air: auto-destruction or invasion?

Skalaghadoffy, surrounded by all his support group, said:

‘The home is yours, because in the Universe there is no beginning or end. Because of this, give continuity to your lives and to your son’s lives.

I know that you will need every disposition and courage to start again, but don’t forget that we will never abandon you. In this challenge, the fight is your. We will wait all the time that is needed.

One day we will come back and we will finish our plans, that are still foremost, in spite of the failure of your generation. If there are people to blame,they will be punished with death. Life is the Universe is not an accidental fact and, yes, a manifestation of God himself who created it.’
