The 1860 Federal Census for Wayne County, North Carolina

The North Carolina census was taken on approximately 240 large pages in two different census books.  It appears here on 24 pages, each containing 10 of the original pages.  Some of them are extremely hard to read, but fortunately almost the entire census was taken by one man, Wm. H. Aycock, who had fairly good handwriting.

Key to the Census

The census, as it appears here, consists of several numbers, a last name, a first name, and additional numbers, words and commas.  The key to these is shown below.  Each column is ended by a comma.  If nothing precedes that comma, then that column was empty.
