Playing The Fool
My friends and I
put on a homemade play
for kids to watch
(We invited parents too
to kinda class it up a notch.)
The play was called “The Princess”
and of course,
I was the star.
I wrote it and directed it
(that’s how us big stars are!)
The audience was sitting
on the chairs
I’d made from crates,
As I stood upon the platform
that I’d built from paper plates.
The curtain lifted so I started
walking out on stage.
I said my first line perfectly -
and then I turned the page.
Everybody listened, laughed and cried...
they loved my play!
That is until my two left feet
got in my right foot’s way.
I began my grand finale
(a nice tap dance with a twist)
Then I leapt into the air
but, when I came back down,
I missed.
If you can’t quite get the picture,
check your local gossip page.
The caption reads “Don’t Worry,
She’s Just Going Through a Stage.”
