to have my Buffy fanfic, preferably with lots of Willow, Oz,
etc. I'm also especially impressed how the 'net fanfic writers
come up with new uses of magic and rituals with the innovation
and cleverness of actual episode writers. And they also explore
the characters psyches.
I see no quality dropoff between the best 'net writers and the
book/episode writers.
