Chapter 7

“Are you ok?” Brian asked.

“I’m sorry,” Meg said coming back to reality. “My name is Megan, but everyone calls me Meg.”

“Well Meg, you were driftin’ off a little there,” Brian said with a smile.

“Yeah, I’m sorry. I’m just really upset about Sam,” Meg said lying through her teeth.

“Do you wanna go over and see her?” He asked motioning to the other end of the room.

“I’m scared. I really don’t wanna see her like this,” Meg said wondering why she just told him what she did. There was something about him that just made her comfortable and open up.

“It’s ok, it’s your choice,” He said putting his hand on her shoulder. Normally Meg would have beat the crap out of any guy that would have done that but Brian was different. She knew he was just trying to help.

“Samantha, Samantha,” the blond said as Sam’s head shook back and forth.

“Where…what?” Sam whispered as she flickered her eyes open.

“Are you ok,” the blond asked feeling her forehead.

Sam focused on the guy leaning over her. It was the angels face she always dreamed of seeing this close since she first laid eyes on him. She thought she was dreaming the sweetest dream imaginable. “Nick, is that you?” Sam asked not expecting an answer.

“Yeah,” Nick said with a confused look on his face. “How does she know my name?” he asked himself.

Sam tried to sit up to get closer to her dream man but only made it a few inches till she plopped back down on the couch.

“She needs to get into bed,” Dan said entering the room.

“Where is it? I’ll take her,” Nick said eagerly.

“Up the steps to the left, 1st door,” Dan replied.

Nick picked Sam up and carefully carried her up the stairs and into the guest bedroom. He set her down on the bed gently. She brought her knees up to her chest and closed her eyes.

Nick looked over at the night table and noticed pictures. He saw Sam’s family first, then Sam and Meg, and then settled his eyes on the picture in a heart frame. He didn’t notice anything, he figured it was a picture of her boyfriend, but then he did a double take. He found himself staring at himself. He smiled and sat down on a chair next to the bed.
