How did Mother's Choice get started?
The Mother's Choice brand of treats and sweets was first born in Nairobi, Kenya in 1997, with a focus on selling homemade Indian sweets and snacks. The goal from the beginning was to offer our customers a wholesome, fresh, and healthier choice, and treats that could be enjoyed even during periods of fasting.
Passionate about ice cream and wanting to learn how to make it, Mrs. Shukla, the owner of Mother's Choice, began taking lessons on how to make basic types of ice cream. Through her own experiments and original research, she developed her own unique recipes and a line-up of both familiar classics and exotic, Indian-style flavours.
After moving to Toronto, Ontario, Mrs. Shukla entered a development program for independently-owned businesses. Mother's Choice was then chosen among over 500 candidates to receive funding for a small business venture! In 2005, Mother's Choice began selling homemade ice cream to a variety of loyal customers around the GTA, with word-of-mouth helping to build the business and gain new customers.
Now located at 14 Calafia St. in the town of Markham, Ontario, Mother's Choice has grown into a thriving and successful business based on our one-of-a-kind offerings.
