Santana: Supernatural santana.jpg (31365 bytes)  Customer review: "Supernatural makes me hope for the day that Carlos teams up with Sting..."
Joined in the studio by contemporary chart-toppers like Dave Matthews, Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, Everlast, Eagle Eye Cherry, and Eric Clapton, Santana's fluid and fiery guitar blends with Afro-Cuban percussion and soul-filled hip-hop for an exhilarating exhibition of multi-culturalism. The percussions are Latin perfect throughout the CD. Santana's guitar playing is always present and commanding as he weaves in and out of ballads, punches up hip-hop numbers, and stretches through his own style. No black magic, just sheer talent.

The Sebadoh - The Sebadoh. With its self-titled release, lo-fi band Sebadoh welcomes its newest member, drummer Russell Pollard.

Tangerine Dream: Mars Polaris
Thanks to the big-selling soundtracks for in-planetarium dozing which they recorded for Virgin in the mid-'70s (Ricochet, Stratosfear etc), Tangerine Dream are hardly credited as Krautrock pioneers in the same league as Can or Faust. If you are a fan of such works as Brian Eno's Descreet Music or Music for Films, this album will fit nicely between those two in your cd changer.

Van Der Graaf Generator: Pawnhearts

Various Artists - "Hot Rods & Custom Classics: Cruisin' Songs & Highway Hits" The folks at Rhino have provided the perfect collection of summertime driving music. This four-disc set includes tracks from Johnny Cash, the B-52's, Jan & Dean and Chuck Berry as well as fuzzy dice.

Tom Waits -"MuleVariations" The beautifully rumpled teller of tales both strange and sublime returns with his first new album in six years. Though some songs teeter on the edge of breakdown, there isn't a wasted note or lyric to be found. And who else can come up with titles -- from "Chocolate Jesus" to "Eyeball Kid" to "Filipino Box Spring Hog"--that evoke such vivid imagery?

Rick Wakeman- "Return to the Center of the Earth" Thirty over-the-top tracks by the famed former keyboardist of YES. This is a reprise to Wakeman's early '70's opus "Journey to the Center of the Earth," which made him a solo star (however brief). Includes accompaniment by a full orchestra from London.

Yanni: Live At The Acropolis This album captures the unique, trademark sounds only Yanni can produce - both from his early and present years.

Frank Zappa: Broadway The Hard Way Broadway revue-style comic dissection of the contemporary American cultural and political scene, with Frank Zappa naming names - Jimmie Swaggart, Pat Robertson, Oliver North, George Bush and Ronald Reagan, Jesse Helms and Michael Jackson - and Ike Willis's Sammy Davis impression. Nasty and funny.
