"Miracles Don't Just Happen...We Make Them Happen!"

What is "Making Miracles Happen"?

"Making Miracles Happen" is a television show, produced by the Monterey Bay Holistic Alliance and airing at various times on the public access channel, Channel 24. Go to our Downloads webpage to download an informational brochure or contract, or go to our Request Information page to request that forms be mailed to you. "Making Miracles Happen" won the Edgar Kennedy Award, for best show, "Issues and Public Affairs/Informational" Category for 2006. The Monterey Bay Holistic Center is the Producer of the show. Our show is a "good news" show that highlights charity work, volunteerism, health and wellness of mind, body and spirit. The purpose of “Making Miracles Happen” TV show is to provide the viewing audience with an opportunity to hear and see practitioners, teachers, healers, therapists, doctors, counselors, ministers, philosophers, charity workers, volunteers, speakers, and people on the street, sharing how they are “making miracles happen.” You can download a brochure and contract.


What Kinds of Programs Have You Aired?

We have produced shows on HIV AIDS volunteers, cancer survivors, the SPCA, the "Save the Whales" program, animal shelters and rescue foundations, a local hang-glider, a Sound Healer, a physical fitness teacher and life coach, an Angel Channeler and author, and much more. We feature interviews with volunteers at nonprofit organizations who are making a difference in the community, people who have experienced miracles in their lives, and people who have who have noteworthy advice about a change of lifestyle which brings about health and wellness. People featured in the shows are of all ages and all walks of life (children, adults and senior citizens). They are chosen to be on the show because of their ability to inspire others to live a better life.


How Do I Get On Your Show?

If you believe you have something to share on our show, contact us, we'd love to have you! There are several options depending on how much time you want aired: 1) You can send us your writings (poetry, or prose) and if it is noteworthy we can put it on the show. 2) We do not have “commercials,” but you can also choose to be on the show for a brief amount of time (a “Miracle Minute”) to share a story or life experience, or health tip of the week. 3) You, or your organization, can choose be featured for the 30-minute program. The television show includes tips, “Minute Miracles” interviews, uplifting quotes and much more. The TV show reinforces the idea that “miracles don’t just happen to us…we make them happen!” We get out into the community, on the street, go to the schools and out on the beach to film people making a difference. Do You Ever Need Volunteers?

Yes, we always are in need of volunteers to help us with the television show. Volunteers can help with on-site camera work, administrative work, phone calling, production, and film editing. For more information about volunteering read our Volunteers Brochure. If you have basic computer skills, organizational skills, an eye for details and a passion for television production, you can learn how to edit film for the "Making Miracles Happen TV Show." Volunteers are needed in every aspect of the work, from marketing to film duplication. Some of the work is very simple such as making followup calls and scheduling appointments.Contact us if you are interested in volunteering.


How Much Does This Cost?

The suggested minimum donation for the featured 30-minute program interviews is $75 to cover our expenses for private consultations and production work with the Monterey Bay Holistic Alliance staff. There is no suggested donation for the "Miracle Minute" spots or for nonprofits or charitable organizations. The MBHA is a nonprofit tax-deductible organization and gratefully accepts all donations to help the organization continue to serve the community. All interviews are copyrighted property of the Monterey Bay Holistic Alliance, and "Making Miracles Happen." If you have already scheduled an interview and wish to make a donation, go to our Donations webpage to pay online with a credit card.


Can You Film Me at My Work or Home?

Yes, we would appreciate a donation to cover our expenses for onsite filming. We are happy to interview you at another location and will design a contract specific to your needs and the time we spend on the interview. In fact, filming at a variety of sites makes the best program. It is important that you schedule a consultation with our staff to decide how we can best narrate your story.


What Happens After You are Done Filming Me?

The show is then edited by MBHA volunteer staff trained in film editing and production. The editing includes captioning, voice-over narratives, poems, transitions, special effects, music, special graphics, quotes, and other interviews or "Minute Miracles." The editing may take several days or several weeks. It depends on the captioning, narratives, and other stories which will be combined with your interview to make a completed segment. It also depends on the film quality and if there were a lot of re-takes during the filming. We take special care to create a show which conveys the "spirit" or intention of the program. After the show is edited and completed using computer editing, it is copied and submitted to AMP Media Center to be aired. It may take from several weeks or several months before your show is completed and aired, depending on the number volunteers available to work on the show, the schedule of the television station, and the complexity of the film.


What if I Don't Get the Show in My City?

You have several options. Right now it is airing on Comcast Cable Channel 24 at various times. You need to check your local listings. If you don't have cable, and you've been considering it, you can contact Comcast Cable to ask what your options are and if you can be serviced for cable in your area. If that is not an option, and you are just interested in seeing the show, let us know. We have the capability of sending our show to other PBS stations and perhaps we can get it to air on a station in your hometown. Contact us. You also can visit the AMP website to see when the show is airing at www.ampmedia.org You also have the option of contacting us to request the copy of the show. Tell us which show you would like, and if you would like it in DVD or VHS format. We ask for a minimum $25 donation to cover our duplication expenses.
