A Look at "Sex and the City" and Feminism

While "Sex and the City" may have ended, the images and ideas are still impacting viewers. These four female characters--Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda--have encouraged women throughout the world to be sexy, successful, empowered, and most of all individualistic. According to these four characters, to be single, career-oriented, and thirty something is completely socially acceptable. Even though all four characters desire a male connection whether it be a relationship or an intimate night in bed, these women are not willing to sacrifice their self-identity for a male. Ultimately, Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda embrace the idea from the Women's Movement that women can have it all--independence, happiness, success, beauty, and if they choose a man and family.
