This is the grading breakdown and list of achievements for Spring 2003.  The entire outline was too large to post here.  Each student will receive an outline on Tuesday the 21st during clinic and orientation.  Our first day of patients is Thursday, January 23rd.

 

Den 225 Grading Breakdown

(A 75 must be achieved in Clinical Achievements to pass Den 225)

Den 215 Clinical Achievements (55%)

*All items must be passed to receive credit.

·        You must achieve 75 points in clinical achievements to pass Den 225.

·        All point deductions will be taken from clinical achievements, except where noted.

30 quadrants of type A calculus

18 quadrants of type B calculus (all handscaled)

8 quadrants of type C calculus (4 handscaled)

10 MCC clinic patients (from call list)

3 Adult Chartings of Advanced Difficulty

4 Quadrants of Periodontal Charting

1 Sealant Case (minimum of two teeth)

5 Drug WebQuests

1 Observed Chairside Periodontal Counseling Session (PSR Codes 3 and 4)

(Course failure if not completed, -2 points for unacceptable sessions, these points will be deducted from clinical achievements – see Periodontal Counseling Form for specific details.)  Unacceptable sessions must be redone until acceptable.

1 Air Polishing (minimum of 1 quadrant)

Plaque and Bleeding Indices are required at initial appointments for all patients.

Ultrasonic scaling is not allowed on Class B quadrants except after scaling has

been completed and per instructor.

Handscaled D quadrants convert to 1B1C. 

To best of ability(TBA) D quadrants convert to 1C.

Note:  Students are responsible for recruiting their own patients to fulfill any or all of the above achievements
