Hockey goes for the CCHA lead
It has been awhile since I posted anything on here. This week has been WCBN fundraiser week and hopefully the sports department raised some decent money this year. Michigan hockey is rolling now. They won last night to pull within a point of the Miami RedHawks, the current leaders in the CCHA. Tonight the Wolverines will take on Miami again with first place on the line at Yost. If you want to listen to my color commentary go to www.wcbn.org click on listen live and click on the sports stream starting at 7:30.

I am also looking forward to the Red Wings game today. I'm really hoping that Foote gets what's coming to him for the stick to Yzerman's face. I think this one could restart the intensity of the rivarly. This one will be on today at 3. I'm sure I'll have a comment on here about this game later.

The Snow goes on
Well, I haven't really said much on here lately. Life is going well here in Ann Arbor. I had an advising appointment today and everything is on course for graduation. Probably ahead of pace actually. No big deal though. In the political realm, Kerry is looking awfully strong and it seems like he is on quite a roll. Right now I am watching some Michigan baseketball on tv. The team needs a big win today to get things turned around in the Big Ten schedule. The Michigan hockey team is looking great and they are ranked 3rd in the country in the polls and 4th in the pairwise rankings. If the Wolverines can keep it rolling it looks like we might be in for another trip to the frozen four. A trip to Boston sounds nice to me. But the team has got to put it all together and hopefully they won't just settle for a trip to the frozen four but will bring home the championship. More snow has hit Ann Arbor. It makes me think of Christmas, but that is winter in Ann Arbor. I don't think people should be freaking out. Snow is just another form of precipitation. It looks nice in the winter but I can't stand the people that freak all out. That's about it. Leave me a post.

Cold Ann Arbor
This weather is crazy. Sure makes me wish that I was visiting sunny California again. I was looking at some Rose Bowl pictures today and it looked awfully nice there. Another weekend has arrived here and it should be an interesting sports weekend. WCBN will have a wrestling/sportstalk brodcast tomorrow night from 7-10 on Game of the Week. Then on Saturday its a WCBN Sports Stream doubleheader with water polo and then hockey. Start listening at 5 if you want to hear how it goes. www.wcbn.org/listen.html Should be a very important weekend for the Michigan hockey team as they have a home and home series with the Western Michigan Broncos.

On a completely unrelated sports note, how many times are the Toronto Jays, yes thats right, no longer the Blue Jays, they are just the Jays, and once again they have new unis. I'm really not sure why, but they did.

The Tigers better land Pudge Rodriguez now that the hopes of all Tigers fans are so high. If this really is a ploy by his agent to make the Marlins give him a higher offer, I will be very upset. If the Tigers can sign Pudge, this really could be a turning point for the worst team in major league baseball right now.

That's about it for now. Good bye.

State of the Union and State of Life
So I just got finished watching the State of the Union address. Seems to me like the President did a pretty good job and I think he has set forth some strong goals for the country in the upcoming year. Things should be very interesting in the election especially given the events that occurred in Iowa. Kerry won the caucus and surprisingly Dean came in 3rd. There is still much to be decided here. Classes are going well here, but my Origins of Nazism course is somewhat disturbing. The class is team taught by 2 professors. The one is pretty good, she talks about politics and history. But, the other professor talks about art and culture and the lectures are boring and I just really don't think the issues relate that much to the matters of the class. The rest of the classes seem pretty good and I should probably be doing some reading for those classes now.

Same Old Stuff
Just got back from the Michigan hockey game. The Wolverines got a 5-3 victory over the U.S. Natl. Development Program Under 18 team. Not really a very thrilling game as it was just an exhibition contest, but it was important as far as momentum for the rest of the regular season as the Wolverines will have a home and home series next weekend with the Broncos of Western Michigan. Tomorrow should be filled with homework, but that's what Sundays are for. Luckily the U doesn't have classes on Monday in honor of MLK day. Tomorrow will be a big day for football as the conference championship games take place. I would like to see a game between the Patriots and the Panthers, but I think it will probably be the Patriots and the Eagles. This upcoming week will also be huge politically. This of course is my nerdy political science self coming out. The Iowa Caucuses take place on Monday and will start the push for the Presidential election this year. Also on Tuesday will be the State of the Union Address by President Bush. He will discuss what has happened in this past year and present his goals for the upcoming year. I guess that's about it for now. Drop me a post and let me know what's going on or what you are thinking about.

The Start of a Long Weekend
Classes have finished up for week two. This will be an especially long weekend since there will be no classes on MLK day on Monday. Nothing much exciting happened today so there isn't a whole lot to talk about. The hockey team basically has a weekend off even though they play a game this weekend. The team plays the US Under 18 National Development Team on Saturday night. You can hear my role in the WCBN brodcast starting at 7:30 on the WCBN sports stream at www.wcbn.org/listen.html There will be another interesting brodcast for tomorrow night's Game of the Week show from 7-10pm. We will be doing a semester in review and a game of WCBN radio poker. This can be heard by clicking on the FM stream on the previous link or by listening to 88.3 FM in the Ann Arbor area. That is about it for now.

Snowy Day
The snow has arrived again here in Ann Arbor. It has been snowing all day and there was snow on the ground already when I woke up. In football news I definately called the return of Mike DeBord from Central Michigan. He will be taking over the duties of special teams and recruiting. Lots of time till the next football season starts, unfortuantely. I guess the big news of the day was President Bush's announcement that he plans for the US to return to the moon and also send an exploratory mission to Mars. I'm not totally sure how I feel about this one. We have 87 billion going to Iraq and a fragile economy. Now don't get me wrong, I think Saddam being gone is good and I think the economy is on the rebound, but I can also think of some pretty good ways to have the government spend money. Feel free to leave your comments about the proposed trip to Mars. Hope everyone is having a nice week. Leave some comments.

First Entry
This is my first attempt at this blog stuff. School is back underway and today is the first day of the second week. Seems like all of my classes are going to be a lot of work, but they also all seem interesting. Radio is pretty much business as usual. The hockey team appears like they might finally be turning it around. If things continue to go well hopefully we will be looking at a trip to Boston, but that might be too optimistic at this point. I also want to talk a little bit about political correctness. I think this has been way overdone especially here in Ann Arbor. I was made aware of a story in which a student group that promotes pen pal communication between college students and grade school kids in Ann Arbor and around thea area. This group returned a card because a college student included Happy Thanksgiving in the card. The rationale was that not everyone celebrates Thanksgiving. I realize the necessity for restrictions on Christmas due to religious difference, but NOT THANKSGIVING? I'm not sure if I am making too big a deal out of this, but I didn't know Thanksgiving was so controversial. That's my little rant for the day. Leave me some feedback about what I should put in here. Thanks.
