SPONSER A SICK DOG

Heartworms is a HUGE problem with the strays that rescue groups pick up from animal shelters. Every year MMBR treats anywhere from 5-8 cases of heartworms in dogs. Each dog with heartworms costs the rescue at least $300 and that is not including all the medical care to get them into proper condition to treat the disease or the cost of neuter or spay.

Heartworm treatment is not the only expensive medical care our dogs get. From time to time we get boxers with tumors that need removal, heart problems, kidney failure and other medical problems that need to be addressed before adoption.

WHAT IS HEARTWORM DISEASE

Our adoption fee covers the basics. It is set at an amount so that we can provide, de-worming, de-flea medication, vaccines, spay or neuter, rabies vaccine and heart worm test. Almost any medical condition above and beyond these costs the rescue money we don't usually have.

How You Can Help

We take donations to help offset the cost of expensive medical procedures. Donations can be made to MMBR or directly to our veterinarian. If you cannot afford to donate anything, please consider helping us out with our next fundraiser. Every donation helps save a life.

DOGS NEEDING HELP

These are picture of our dogs recently going through expensive medical treatments

Sugar Ray

Boxer Puppy-Sugar Ray came to MMBR two months ago as an 11 month old puppy. He is loving and sweet. He also had heartworms and mange. His heartworms have been treated but he is still undergoing mange treatments. The treatments could go on for many months to totally clear up his condition.

Bosley

Pit Bull mix puppy-Came to MMBR with broken bones in his hips and pelvis. He is on crate rest and needing expensive x rays on a regular basis.

Maddie

Shar pei/Boxer mix puppy-Maddie came to MMBR unable to walk and dragging her hind legs. She had open wounds on the tops of her hind feet. After x rays and medical treatment Maddie is walking. Our vet believes she was kept in a confined space and unable to excercise, therefore causing her to lose the muscles in her hind end. Maddie will most likly never walk like a normal dog, but she is walking and running with a distinct gate of her own.

Lucy

Suffering from Kidney Failure and needing frequent follow up visits to the vets office. Bloodwork, ultrasounds, urine tests are some of the tests we have had to run. Bloodwork and urine tests will have to be run continually as well as expensive medicines.
