Pebble Fountain

The pebble fountain is in operation. I put some blue food colouring dye in the water of this and the Lion Mask fountain (didn't want to use anything that may harm the birds) in the hope that it may reduce algae growth. The fence and summerhouse needs another coat of paint, and those crummy plastic windows replacing with glass. The Hydrangia has made a lot of growth, but will not flower this year, as it flowers on last years wood, and I cut it down when I dug it up out of the old garden.

Filter Box

I am quite pleased with the filter box I made. Being rather large it is difficult to disguise, but with Lysimachia 'Alexander' (rescued from the old garden) in front, and the Lotus Maculatus 'Fire Vine' on top, it's not too bad. Next year, the 'Fire Vine' will completely cover the box, and trail to the ground. The hanging basket looks quite nice, as do the containers.

Pond

The plants have really taken off, and the water lily has eight flower buds and it's leaves almost cover one half of the pond, giving lots of cover for the fish. Had a bit of a green water problem earlier on, but we bought a bigger UVC unit which I have plumbed in unison with the existing one, the water is now crystal clear. You can also see from this picture how well the plants in the fence pots have filled out.

Lower Garden

The garden is a lot more pleasing to sit in, and the paving creates a bit of a sun trap, which is welcome in a north facing garden. The Cherry Blossom that my sister Isabel bought us, has flowered and gone now, but it was very pretty while it lasted. The filter box is a bit in your face at present, but a big improvement on the bare filter, stand, pipes and all, and as explained above, will be overgrown next year.

Upper Garden

Well, the garden is practically finished. Margaret bought the table on-line from Argos. Well, due to an 'operator error' she actually bought two but after a bit of a panic, she sorted it out. The statue was bought from our local Homebase in Warwick, who were selling off their garden ornaments - I love a bargain.

The end result is just what we envisaged, when we first decided to make the changes, and we hope to spend many happy hours relaxing in our new garden.

That's all folks!!
