Day Eight

Martyn has now finished, and handed the garden back to us. He has given us exactly what we wanted, and that is all anyone could wish for. I have the utmost regard for this man. Apart from his obvious skill and experience, he is a nice person, very courteous, very willing to discuss any aspect of the job, and highly flexible in adapting to changing conditions, or the customer's wishes. I consider we have been lucky to have had him in charge of this project, and I would highly recommend him to any prospective customer. Thanks for everything Martyn!

Filter Box

Now it's over to us. I firstly continued painting the fencing, both old and new, a job I left, to keep out of Martyn's way. I wanted to get my pond back into operation, as the water is decidedly green now. I have had my pond vacuum cleaner out, and cleaned the pre-filter, before switching it back on. I have still to give the fence another coat, before I can box in the filter.

Fountain/Plants

The fountain is back in operation, and all the pond plants are in position. I have given the pond a treatment to help kick start the bio activity in the filter box, and in a day or so, we will be able to re-stock with fish.

Pebble Fountain

I have given theUrn that we use as a pebble fountain, a good scrub, and wish I hadn't, as it looks so white. However, it will soon tone down with weathering. It isn't in operation yet, as I have to cement it together (we only used the bowl in our old garden) and I have to re-feed the armoured cable from the summer house, into the house. I had to disconnect it so Martyn could pave the area. He buried it below the paving, which is a lot neater than having it draped around the base of the fence, which is how it was.

Containers

We have hung some terracota wall pots on the fence, for trailing plants, and have purchased some nice green glazed pots, from Wyevale Garden Centre at Stratford-Upon-Avon, and some container plants to go in them. We have two or three terracotta pots, which we will re-use, but the plastic ones have to go.

Nice one Martyn, thanks a lot!
