Snapped, just before I fell off the roof

The garden is pretty well in a state at present. This is mainly due to the fact that it is winter, and the result of the excavation work needed to install the pond, and piping. The stepping stones in the grass were removed, and given to a greatful neighbour, and most of the original patio slabs uplifted. The bushes that lined the chain link fence have also been uprooted. All this has resulted in making the garden look pretty bleak.

I am afraid it will get much worse, before it gets better.

Summer House

Due to pretty naff weather last summer, (and this winter), the Summer House has been badly neglected. A tear in the roofing felt needs sorting out, and the bottom rails on the veranda need replacing. The plastic windows have discoloured with age, and two have cracked. These will be replaced with glass. The summer house will then get a new coat of green timber stain, to match the new fencing (when erected).

Took this one, just before they picked me up!
Old Fence

Old Fence

The original chain link fence is still in a good state of repair, but the original single panel of fence has been rotted away at the base, by our neighbour building up their soil level, to the top of a small wall they have had built around their patio. I will avoid this happening to our new fence, by laying the old patio slabs (seen in picture) on edge, against their soil, thus insulating the new fence. The old panel and chain link fencing will be removed of course.

Filter Box

At present, the filter box is naked, but I intend fitting an external lining of 2" polystyrene sheet. I will then box it in using the same feather edge boarding, used on the fence, in an attempt at camouflage, although it's size may demand one or two containers, with decent sized bushes, to help in this regard.

Work Commences

We consulted Martyn Vine, of Vines Gardens, a Warwickshire Landscape Design & Construction Specialist (see entry on Links page), and discussed our requirements, on a site visit. Following the receipt of an acceptable quotation, the landscape work was entrusted to his team. I will attempt to keep a photographic record of his handywork, as the job progresses.

I'm still waiting for my pond!
