Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.-"WORLD CLASS SERVICE"
The successful growth of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is perhaps best captured in a speech by its founder, first president, and grand basilues-emeritus, Arizona Cleaver-Stemons, who once said, "The lamp of learning is still being passed from hand to hand, the seed maturing becomes many seeds of future plantings."
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 16th, 1920, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Recognizing the need for an organization that would assume a leadership position in making the world a better place, Charles Robert Samuel Taylor, a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (founded in January
1914), began to sow the seeds of a sister organization while escorting his friend, Arizona Cleaver-Stemons, across tha campus of Howard University. In 1919, Taylor took the request to the Sigma conclave, and the birth of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was brought into existence. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, was founded on
the principles of FINER WOMANHOOD, SISTERHOOD, SCHOLARSHIP, AND SERVICE, by five woman (FIVE PEARLS): Arizona Cleaver-Stemons, Myrtle Tyler-Faithful, Viola Tyler-Goings, Pearl A. Neal, and Fannie Pettie-Watts. These woman dared not to embrace the existence of the traditional Black Sororities, set forth to create an organization that would offer "WORLD CLASS SERVICE." After 78 years of Zeta's existence, she has flourished into 100, 000+ members, in the Carribeans, West Germany, Africa, and the United States. As Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated continues to flourish in the years to come, we will continue to uplift our founding principles in which our "BELOVED FIVE PEARLS" intended for us to do. While we continue to provide "WORLD CLASS SERVICE" to all mankind.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated was FIRST:
- to be constitutionally bound to a brother fraternity: Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated-1914
- to establish a chapter in Africa-1948
- to establish auxilirary groups: THE AMICAE, ARCHONETTES, AMICETTES, & PEARLETTES
- to be a charter member of the National Pan Hellenic Council
