November 2006 update
Another winter riding season is about to begin and hopefully it will be as good as or better than last year. I would like to tell a little more about our club and what we do.
The Voyagers Trail Grooming Association consists of eight other clubs that joined together to form V.T.G.A. We groom approximately 700 kilometres of trails along the East side of the Red River, south of Winnipeg. We maintain the trails in the communities of Lorette, Ile des Chenes, St. Adolphe, Ste. Agathe, St. Pierre, St. Malo, Grunthal, and Niverville. The trails are groomed with an 85C CAT Challenger. Our meetings take place the first Thursday of the month at St. Pierre Hotel located in St. Pierre, Manitoba.
As a club we are challenged with the rising cost of maintaining the trail system and finding dedicated members that will continue to manage the club. Hopefully I can spark some interest in some of the local snowmobilers to come out to our meetings and help our club. We are always looking for some fresh faces and ideas. We are also faced with the declining trail passes and the amount of non-SNOPASS riders on the trail. I would like to encourage all the readers to please pass this message along when out riding the trails in Manitoba. These trails are supported by the sales of Snopasses and the dedicated club members that volunteer their time to ensure that we have top-notch trails to ride on every winter.
I would also like to take the time to say Thank You to all our club members that have spent countless hours to supporting the club over the years and making sure we are still able to have snowmobile trails to ride on every winter. Without our club members, we wouldn't have the club we do today. I would also like to thank all our local business owners that have given support to the club, whether it is for equipment repairs or donations. I would like to encourage all our local snowmobilers to support our local businesses during the winter riding season. Please have a safe and enjoyable riding season.
