While
attending Berklee College
of Music, he became one of Steve Vai's first guitar students. Soon
after he joined the band Liege Lord who then signed with Metal
Blade Records. Paul co wrote and performed on two of the band's
most popular classic power metal albums. These releases are
"Burn to My Touch" produced by Joe Buchard of Blue
Oyster Cult and "Master Control" produced by the great
Terry Date, known for his work with Nirvana, Sound Garden,
Def-Tones, Pantera and many more and also Metal Blade's Vol. 3
compilation album released and distributed by Enigma/Capitol.
These releases led to Paul being featured in magazines that
"I could only have dreamed of seeing myself in when I first
started out as a young and aspiring guitar player". He has
been in literally hundreds of magazines and on radio stations
world wide, some of the most notable being Billboard, BBC, Circus,
RIP, Kerrang, Rock Hard, RRN, About.com and Scream and fanzines,
too many to count! Early on his reputation as a talented guitar
player began getting him noticed in the industry. This soon made
him the top replacement audition choice for such acts as
Slaughter, OZZY, House of Lords, Anvil, Dio, Steel Heart and
Anthrax. Some of the notable recommendations for these auditions
were given by this list of characters; Chuck Wright, Mike Varney /
Sharpnel Records, Ronnie James Dio and Metal Blade Records
themselves. Soon Paul was writing guitar instructional columns for
several nationally syndicated magazines and cementing endorsement
deals with Randall Amplifiers, ESP Guitars and Dean Markley
Strings. Ads of Paul promoting these products were soon seen in
Guitar World and Guitar School Magazines. This found Paul being
asked to be an exhibitor at California Namm shows where he
performed clinics alongside George Lynch, Bruce Kulick, Kenny
Aaronsen, Arlen Roth and separate eastern United States clinics
with Vivian Cambell as well as appearing as
a guest speaker at the prestigious CMJ convention in NY. Liege
Lord would part their separate ways in the 90s, but for Paul this
was just the beginning... He continued to be hired as a side man
for many notable acts and then joined the band The B-Stools on
Rick Rubin's Def Jam label. Shortly after Paul began touring
southern Europe and northern Africa with Fernando Pereira which
led to him to perform on "Live From NY", a CD that soon
went certified gold in Portugal. Upon his return Paul was recorded
on "Mediterranean Love Affair" featuring some of NYC's
top session players. In-between he began writing music for the
comedy cable soap "Scruff Boys" and sound tracks for
radio. Being able to play such a broad variety of styles, Paul
still continues to record and tour with many national acts, most
recently he returned from Norway after recording on the CD
"Create Your Lover" for the artist PV released this
year. The song "Summerdays" which features Paul's
skillful R&B style of guitar playing is now part of a new
30sec National TV commercial for top European Shampoo company
"Naturelle." contracted for 1 year. He can also be found
on Wendy May's recent release "Matter of Perception", a
CD featuring jazz greats Chuck Loeb, Jim Beard and Bill Evans.
Paul is also pictured in the newly released hard cover book
“Worldwide Megabook of Heavy Bands” published by Popular
Culture, Inc. / Mark Hale.
