Joey Goes Country

Joey Goes Country

Note: I don’t know the title of the original song, but it was by “Conway Twitty” I heard it in 3rd grade and just remembered it!

Beefy was the girl
that lived next door
I’ve known her I guess
ten years or more
Beefy wrote me
a note on day
and this is what
she had to say:

”Joey please say
you’ll wait for me
I’ll grow up someday
you’ll see
Savin all my kisses
just for you
signed with love
forever true”

Slowly I read
the note once more,
I ran over to the house
next door
her tear drops fell
like rain that day
when I told Beefy
what I had to say:

”Beefy, Beefy please
don’t cry
You’ll forget me
by and by
Your just fourteen
and I’m twenty-three
And Beefy, I just
can’t wait for thee.”

Soon I left
our little hometown
finished college
and tried to settle-down
but those words
kept hunting my memory
the words that Beefy
said to me:

”Joey please say
you’ll wait for me
I’ll grow up someday
you’ll see
Savin all my kisses
just for you
signed with love
forever true”

I packed my clothes
and I caught a plane
I had to see Beefy
I had to explain
how my heart was
filled with her memory
and ask my Beefy
If she’d marry me….

I ran over to the house
next door
things weren’t like
they were before
my tear drops fell
like rain that day
when I heard
what Beefy had to say:

”Joey, Joey please
don’t cry
You’ll forget me
by and by
It’s been five years
Since you were at Princeton
Joey, I married
your best friend Justin.

NOTE: IN MY DREAMS!!! This makes me seem like a teeny…damn…(I’m Beefy in the song…lah*) You’ve got to admit, it’s a pretty funny song!

Um, NO. bye bye bye!
