Whatz Newz?

June 4th 2003 .......so much for the regular updates!:-(

A quick update as it has been so long and things are about to change in our lives. We will be leaving the Restaurant on June 15th or thereabouts! Mum and Dad are going to take over for the immediate future and Char and I are moving to Brandon about two hours south from here. It's a nice city of about 45,000 people. Kev will be studying in Winnipeg for a couple of months starting in late August to become a Financial Advisor and will join a friend of ours in his offices in Brandon in October. We are currently going through the process of buying a house and hope to move in the middle of July. Things are certainly going to be different and we are looking forward to being able to spend more quality time with the girls. Bowen has a year of school left in Russell (he is living with his Dad in Russell) after which he is hoping to go to University, possibly in Brandon, so he may come stay with us then. Anyway watch this space as I hope to be able to do some more updates over the next month or two to keep you all up to speed.

Sept 1st 2002 .......less than a month since my last update WOW!

Well we shouldn't get too excited as it's just a quickie! Today was Kaspers Horse Shoe Tourney which was a blast! We were invited to Char's Brother Dennis' house in Yorkton along with most of the family we had a tourney and then an excellent feast of ribs and perogies, cabbage rolls, salads .....etc. It was great for Char and I as Aug 31st is our year-end at the restaurant and we had a long day the day before.

Other notables over the last few weeks include Jessica's first day of school. She started kindergarten Aug 29. She really enjoyed herself and keeps asking when she can go again. Kaitlin is also looking forward to the day she can go too!

We took the girls to Winnipeg jsut before school started and went to the Zoo, a Children's Museum and stayed in a hotel with a pool so we had a great time. Jessica loves corn on the cob so the next day we went to "A Maze in Corn" which was really neat. they cut a maze in a 10 acre field of corn and it was taller than all of us so when you got lost you were really lost!

Anyway that's it for now ... keep checking back!

August 5th, 2002 .............. 36 Today! (Kev)

Oh Man it's been a long time since I did anything about my web page!

Sorry to anyone who may have checked from time to time and had nothing new to look at!

Well I think I'm going to try something new and put a news letter together with dates so you will know if anything has changed!

Yup today is my Birthday which is probably why I have ended up doing this! Time for a little reflection. 18 years as an adult! that's half my life time WOW! I have Known my wife for half that time - approx 9 years and my oldest Daughter has been around for half that time 41/2 years, spooky eh!

Not really but it just goes to show how people can babble when they have no one else to talk to on their birthday!

We have been very busy this summer at the restaurant, nothing much new there! But we are also trying to do some renovations as Jim & Michele (Kev's parents) are available for a few days per week at the moment.

We spray painted the celing about a week ago, started at 11pm and got finished just as the staff were showing up for work the following am, in fact Keri helped us put the tables back in order just before the first coffee drinkers arrived at 7.50 am!

We have been extremenly busy with weddings. We served at a wedding a few weeks ago, receiving most of the foods and then getting them ready for a buffet service and the folowing week we catered to Darcy (Char's Nephew) and Jackies Canadian Reception in Roblin (actually Char did all the work for that one - Kev just showed up!) Along with that we have already attended 3 other weddings so far this year and have another one to cater in September for Char's nephew Josh (and Candace)

We visited Lorraine and Charlie in sunny California in May for a week and had the greatest time. We visited Hollywood, Beverley Hills, Universal Studios and were taken on many guided tours by Charlie. Charlene finally got to see the sea! Kev and Charlie went for a swim, they had done the "macho syke each other up for a dip thing" the night before over a few cocktails! and so chilly water or not it had to be done!

A week later we were off again to the States to Darcy and Jackie's Wedding in Mandan North Dakota. It was a six hour road trip and the Girls were very good. It's the longest trip we have ever taken them on and we were concerned as they usually get bored just driving to the store (shops) Anyway we had a blast, Jackies family looked after us all very well and their wedding was a beautiful affair!

More recently we managed to get away to the lake and rented a seadoo for a few days here and there. The girls really enjoyed going for trips and every time we see one being towed somewhere on a trailer they ask where our seadoo is! Char also enjoyed running around on it. She is not much of a water person.... or at least she wasn't. The seadoo was a big surprise and we had trouble getting her off on some occasions! Char's Nephew Jeff and wife Holly (they also got married this year in April - told you it was a busy year for weddings!) Bowen and Kev all performed for the crowd! Our motto "If you didn't fall off, you didn't try hard enough!" We spent much of our time flying through the air or dragging ourselves out of the water after the latest attempt at the impossible, although towards the end of our rental we were finding it harder and harder to throw ourselves off.
