CLUB HISTORICAL
MEMORABILIA
To all Rowing Club members
At the celebration of the Maple
Bay Rowing Club`s 25th. Anniversary
it was decided to compile a historical scrapbook.
I have been asked to collect information for said scrapbook, and
to this end I am asking all club members:
Juniors, Masters and Social Members to search their attics, basements,
spare rooms and photo albums
for any materials:photos, press cuttings, posters and indeed
anything which you feel would be appropriate to include in a scrapbook.
I would also like to include in the scrapbook a history of the
club. If you have any thoughts,
anecdotes or recollections of the beginnings of the club and subsequent
events
covering the 25 years of the clubs history or if you participated
in a regatta, social event,
fund raiser, party, dance, work party at which a particularly
interesting event took place,
I would be pleased to hear from you. Please type if possible.
If you would like to participate in this project in whatever capacity
you choose, please contact me.
If you have historian potential, perhaps you would like to assist
in preparing the club`s history.
The method of collecting these materials may be problematic, but
may I suggest the following:
1] Place any materials in a stamped addressed envelope and mail
it to me at:
1061 Herd Rd. Maple Bay, Duncan. V9L 5W9
2] Drop it off at the club in a box labelled "MEMORABILIA".
Please try to identify the event and the people involved with
dates,
and be sure to include a self addressed envelope.
3] Please indicate whether or not you would like to have the material
returned to you.
4] We will have the material copied/scanned and returned in pristine
condition!
5] If you live in the Bay you might call me at 746-5873 and I
will be happy to pick up the materials.
6] If you operate by way of the electronic media my e-mail address
is:ba.murray@shaw.ca
The club believes that this is a worthwhile venture and so I urge
you to make every effort
to "find" this material so that we can fulfil our mandate
and produce a document which
will do credit to the club, and of which we can all be proud.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Bill Murray.
