Top Gun: Up There with the Best of the Best
On March 3, 1969 the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to insure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. They succeeded. Today the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School.

Top Gun is my favorite movie of all time. Maybe it's the dogfights... maybe it's the cool story... or maybe it's just Tom Cruise. ;) hee hee But seriously, I love Top Gun for all those reasons and more. The music, the storyline, the suspense; everything puts you at the edge of your seat, making you beg for more. One of the greatest things about this movie is how it takes you up into the skies with Maverick and Goose and Iceman. You're up there shooting at the Migs with them. You feel the loses, the daredevil stunts, the heartbreak, and finally the victory. Top Gun shoves us "into overdrive" and propels us onto the "Highway to the Danger Zone".
A few pictures of the characters.
