Tracy Lynne Miller

On the surface
quiet and precocious
always smiling
with those few exceptions
of facial expressions -
if looks were a deadly weapon!

Inside her head
is hers alone
she locks precious thoughts up
and disposes of the key
she shares only what she wishes -
no more than that

She's a wonderful friend
(my other half to be precise)
understanding and kind
thoughtful and sincere
sometimes I wonder how
I survived without her

Tracy Lynne is my other half. For the past year and a half we have been partners in some organization. It all started when I asked her to help me at Glasgow High School for the 1998 Indoor Guard season. The partnership turned into a friendship, and we ended up teaching together for a total of three seasons at Glasgow. The best part of Glasgow was sitting next to her during an indoor guard rehearsal discussing which vegetable the clueless person reminded us of at that particular point. The kids thought we were nuts. Oh, and then there was the time that she yelled at the guard for the first time ever. All the kids could do was stop and stare...they were overcome with shock. It was the funniest thing I ever saw. I'll miss her next year. Who's going to keep me sane?

On top of that partnership, Tracy and I are co-captains of the University of Delaware colorguard. She is definately the person that kept me sane last season. My favorite part of Fall of 1998 was when we had a "duet" during pregame. Even though it was a small 4 count ditty, I looked forward to it at every practice and home game. Then there was the fatefull day I fell off the box I was standing on during post game. Tracy Lynne was more worried about me than my parents were. She even rode to the hospital to stay with me until we knew that everything was okay. I'll also never forget when she knocked herself in the teeth during a rehearsal. That was the first time I ever saw her cry, and I really didn't know what to do. I'm glad her teeth didn't fall out like she thought they were going to.
