treble charger
treble charger consists of: Greig Nori(vocals/guitar), Bill Priddle (vocals/guitar), Rosie Martin (bass/other vocals) and Trevor MacGregor (drums).
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BAND:
Greig and Bill had been friends for quite some time now since their parents were friends and they have said that the two families would rent cottages together and Bill and Greig would fall asleep listening to things like
White Album.
The two met Rosie while all three were growing up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. They practically had a band except they were in need of a drummer. The result of putting an ad in the paper landed them with a drummer fromm Toronto named Morris Palter.
The band was called nc17 for a while until
a heavy metal band from the states threatened to sue because they already had the name, so treble charger was the result of many hours of brainstorming for a name that could possibly be better than nc17.
The band relocated to Toronto and released the album "nc17" independently on an Ontario label called Sonic Unyon.
A few years later, the band released Self=Title on their label "Smokin Worm". The CD had merely 6 tracks but the awesome CD Rom made up for it. Singles released off it were: Morale and Even Grable. People were hooked.
In May 1997, the band released their first major label CD Maybe It's Me. For this CD, Trevor MacGregor was used as the new drummer since Morris and the rest of the band were having some disagreements. This recording was the smoothest, cleanest one yet and was causing alot of media around it, discussing the issue of the band "selling out" because they "weren't an indie band anymore."
I thought that was really retarded, personally.
The first single Friend of Mine got swell play from radio stations and MuchMusic and the band toured for a few months around Canada, and later on in the USA supporting acts like The Foo Fighters and The Dandy Warhols recruiting more fans.
How She Died and Red followed and more and more records sold.
Presently, treble charger is finished touring all of the country, now settling it down to a few college dates in and around Toronto and are planning to record a new album in the fall of '98. There is no announced name yet but they have already started playing new songs which they say may be on the album.
