Placebo Placebo is a frickin awesome band from the UK. Members include: Brian Molko (vocals/guitar/keytar/bass), Stefan Olsdal (bass/piano/backing vocals/guitar/moog) and Steven Hewitt (drums/percussion).



A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BAND:
Placebo is a really great and original band from, well let's just say, the UK. Brian, the media focal point of the band, is one of the most interesting musicians out there today, with sometimes the press more interested in Brian's bi-sexuality than the band's music.

Brian and Stefan attended the same school, but even at that time, Brian referred to himself as 'the loser' while Stefan was the popular kid; a jock. Finally, the two realized what they had in common and formed Ashtray Heart. Stefan got Robert Schultzberg, whom he had also gone to school with, to drum with him and Brian and Placebo was created.

Placebo had only played 5 shows when they decided to sign to Hut Records in 1996.

9 months after their signing to Hut, Robert "left" the band. Replacing him was Steve, who was very very involved with drumming for many bands before Placebo. Steve had 2 weeks to learn the drum parts to their songs before embarking on a 13 country tour and he obviously pulled it off quite well.

Right now Brian and Steve are going to appear in a movie with Ewan MacGregor called The Velvet Goldmine. They are acting in it as members of a glam rock band in the UK. I am not sure if this will be in theatres here in Canada, because I don't know too much about it.

Placebo's *brand spanking new* CD entitled Without You, I'm Nothing was just released November 3rd here in Canada and most likely the USA too. I bought it the day it came out and it rawks just as hard as the first one. I would highly recommend buying it.
