Never Say Never to Interview W/ Darmika!!!

These questions are made up either by me, my friends or Brandy fans I have asked for their help to come up with some interesting questions for Darmika. The Brandy FANatic who appeared on MTV’s Brandy FANatic in 1998. 1. What was it like meeting Brandy? (were you almost fainting? did you keep calm?)

Meeting Brandy seemed like a dream. It's like I've dreamed about it actually since she song respect on Thea so for it to happen - for real, seemed fake - but it wasn't. When I first arrived to the Moesha set they (MTV producers) made me sit outside for like an hour or more and I was about to pee on myself because I was sooo anxious (more than Ginuwine) so when they finally let me in and I knew that when I turned that corner I was gonna see her - my knees got weak there were a family of butterflies in my stomach and tears I wasn't calm at first not at all but everyone on the set (except Countess) were all so cool and they made me feel at home. I was talking to them like I knew them for years. I talked to Lamont (Hakeem) and Marcus (Myles) the most.

2. Are you still in contact with Brandy? Did Sonja give you a personal number or address that you can’t tell anybody else?

Yes, I talked to her on Christmas and last summer in June she called and gave me tickets and backstage passes to her concert in ATL. It was the bomb. I was actually was late to the concert because I couldn't find the civic center in ATL (I had never been there) and I was sooo upset because we were suppose to kick it before the concert if I wouldv'e came early and because I didn't I thought that she would think that I just didn't show up. But in the middle of her singing "Never Say Never" she noticed me and she stopped singing and smiled at me, spoke, made the crowd speak and stuff like that. I was soooo happy. That was my first time ever seeing her perform and it was off the hook. Ray J came and rapped at the end. When it was over I talked to them backstage, took pictures and everything! It was better this time because it seemed like I was seeing my best friend for the first time in a while than meeting my idol which made it more comfortable. Me and Ray J also talked for a while. He's sooo cool and fine. We were talking like we knew each other - I wasn't nervous around him at all. Yes, Brandy was suppose to give it me but she was taping the show so her cousin/assistant Portia gave it to me. Brandy has mentioned her in songs and thank you's on her album. Portia has been on Moesha before (just an extra though). She's really nice but she's also really busy. She makes sure that her lil' cousin is well taken care of.

3. What was the most memorable thing about Brandy that you kept thinking about?

EVERYTHING!!!!!! I guess mostly the general fact of how cool, pretty and down to earth her and her family was. That she was everything and more of what I expected her to be and how welcome she made me feel. I really couldn't stop thinking about that fact that she gave me a number to keep in contact with her - that blowed me.

4. What do you look forward most to see Brandy doing next in her career?

Definitely more movies and another album. She has soooo many talents that choosing what I want to see her do next is kind of hard but I would like to see her model more. Like be in other peoples videos - I think that would be cool. And I'd like to hear some rap from B. She did it on The Queen Latifah show - why not on an album. that one line from "Top of the world" was a teaser.

5. While the interview was taking place, was Brandy loose and making you feel comfortable? Like what would she do to make you and her feel like old best friends, did she make you feel like she has known you for years?

Yes, she mad me feel like one of her old best friends and we were just doing some catching up. Like what would she do to make you and her feel like old best friends, did she make you feel like she has known you for years? Yes, the thing that she did that made me just calm down was hug me first. When I ran out and ran back and came back she laughed of course but when she saw that I was about to cry she hugged me sooo tight with closed fists it was a real hug - you know? Not one of those 10-second pat on the back types, a real one. And she hugged me until she knew that I was comfortable which was about 2 minutes. Which is a long 120 seconds to hug Brandy (Im not funny, but you get where I'm comin from - ha ha)And when I started to interview her she grabbed my hands. Everyone thinks that I took hers - which I wouldv'e done anyway, but the special thing is she took mine. And held it tight throughout the WHOLE interview. And when she started to talk and moved her hands as soon as she was done she would hold my hands again. The interview was longer too, of course they edited it - but alot of the comments she made, made me feel comfortable too.

6. For people who didn’t get a chance to see the interview on MTV, how did Brandy look in person? Is she even more beautiful? What was she wearing? Do you remember?

Don't even get me started on how flawlessly beautiful Brandy is! Her skin is soooo clear and smooth looking. Her teeth are white like the white of hers eyes, and her eyes are so cute and slanted like. Her smile is especially pretty in person and she is soo tiny. I couldn't find anything wrong with her. She looks even better than she does in pictures or on tv - so you know that must be beautiful. The only difference is that she is really lighter in person. Sometimes she looks dark on tv but she is light skinned to me. Yes!!! (I think I answered that one already) When I first met her she was wearing a black suit (pants and a jacket) with a pink, purple flowery sheer shirt under with black dressy shoes. We had on almost the same thing waist down! And later she changed into a green and black outfit with the same shoes. She is wearing the exact same thing that she wears in the episode of Moesha when Antonio paints a Mexican picture on the cafeteria wall and all this racial stuff happens. If you caught that one, then thats what she had on. Of course!!!! never ever forget! plus I got it on tape (lol)

7. What do you think about Brandy playing Karla Wilson in the final chapter of I Know What You Did Last Summer?

I hope that she does it. I think that part two could've been better (don't get me wrong I loved it, I saw it like 5 times in the movies before it left and I have it on tape, but if the script was just a little better - it would've been off the hook) but thats up to the writers not Brandy. She played her part to the t, but I think that she should do it because I would like to see her in more movies and she'd make it better.

8. When you found out that you got the chance of meeting Brandy, what did it feel like?

I didn't believe it. Simple as that. I thought it was a lie and I didn't really believe it until I saw her. Thats when it hit me. Im not used to really good things happening to me so when they came to my house I needed proof kind of - and seeing her was all the proof I needed.

9. How was Brandy reacting to you? Was she really comfortable to be around with? The vision people have of her publicly, do you think the people should have a different view of her?

Brandy treated me like her friend and she reacted great to me because if I were her I might have thought that I was crazy. But instead she appreciated me, she was saying how good it made her feel to know that she had a fan like me which made me feel great. Was she really comfortable to be around with? No doubt. The vision people have of her publicly, do you think the people should have a different view of her? Nope. She is everything (good) that people say she is and even more. I don't think that they give her enough credit actually.

10. How did you feel being one of the top ten finalists? Was it really exciting?

Well, not to be cocky or nothing but I knew I'd be a finalists because I know how much she means to me so I expected that. God works in mysterious ways you know. I prayed many nights for that. Was it really exciting? Very.

11. After meeting Brandy do you think she’s even more sweet, caring and all the positive things people say she is?

That and even more. She helped me get through sooo many hard times in my life, even more than I let the camera know and I appreciate and love her soo much for that. Hopefully she'll help me some more because I sing too. She asked me to sing for her but MTV rushed me and I didn't get a chance to but I will soon and B if you're reading this call me so I can audition for K.O. (smile)

Thanks for a great interview Darmika! Take care now! One Love, B4Eva

This was a great interview, thank you for giving me the chance to share my great experience with all the Brandy fans out there. It's been alot of fun. Write me later. Much Luv,

    Brandy IDEA

I am NOT saying this is going to happen but don't you think it'd be great if Brandy appeared on VH1's Diva's Live (it's Diana Ross's tribute) and she sang Love is All That Matters and some other songs for Diana Ross's event? I think that would be great. Go to VH1.com and write down your thoughts about how you want Brandy to appear on VH1 Diva's Live for the Millennium!

    Brandy's New Projects

(thank you for fair02 for this news)

"I just heard brandy on the local detroit radio station and she had a few things to say:

  • She is doing the movie osmosis jones with Laurence Fishborn and Chris Rock. It will be out in 2001
  • She might be doing a movie this summer but she can't talk about it yet.
  • She said she is definitely coming to detroit on her next concert tour."

    Brandy Packs Her Bags!

    (thank you to BMC01)

Move over, Madeleine Albright: Pop divas Mariah Carey and Brandy are America's new bouncing ambassadors of good vibes.Mariah Carey may be the world's chart-toppingest star, but only this week did she realize the dream that's eluded her: visiting Guam.Don't laugh. Carey says she always had a mystical fascination with the word "Guam." She's also boned up on the U.S. territory's problems — especially the snakes that have eaten most of the birds there. Carey recently told Rolling Stone that she was thinking about launching her world tour on Guam, where she'd close the concert by releasing a flock of pigeons and giving the people snake-hunting Jack Russell terriers. Just like her terrier, which she named Guam. Robert A. Underwood, who represents Guam in Congress, recently read about Carey's interest in his home and invited her to visit. "As you can imagine, it is a rare occasion that someone of your stature comes to visit our island," wrote Underwood. He welcomed her efforts to "control the brown tree snake problem" — even though the media had exaggerated the problem. "Many residents live their entire lives without ever seeing a snake," wrote Underwood. "I assure you Guam has much more to offer." Without her trusty Jack Russell, but armed with plenty of experience of dealing with snakes in the music business, Carey flew in on Monday from the Singapore leg of her world tour. Her rep had not fully debriefed her yesterday but believed "she did some swimming and had a nice time." Meanwhile, singer and TV star Brandy Norwood is packing her bags for Africa. The star will visit Ghana on behalf of UNICEF — encouraging kids to get vaccinated. When she returns, Brandy biographer and friend Karu Daniels says, "I think she may be looking at her last season of 'Moesha.' She's recording an album this summer, and there's word that she may be cast in the remake of 'A Star Is Born' with Jamie Foxx."

    Brandy and Countess Friends?

(I got this from DC4EVA from the TMH Boards. Thanks!)

LOS ANGELES- No braid-pulling, no screaming. Actually, dueling UPN starlets Brandy Norwood and Countess Vaughn were all hugs and tears when the "Moesha" star paid a surprise visit to the set of Vaughn's spin-off series "The Parkers."

Video taped (for posterity or for the press, who knows?) in front of a live studio audience, Brandy ditched Wednesday night's Grammy awards show (even though she was nominated) to join the rest of her castmates to pay tribute to Vaughn for her contributions to the success of "Moesha," which recently celebrated its 100th episode anniversary. And Brandy "brought gifts," she proudly extolled, presenting Vaughn with a bundle of flowers, a plaque and a congratulatory letter from Sheryl Lee Ralph who was spending a week-long hiatus "relaxing on a beach in Jamaica."

Although they are on the same Hollywood studio lot, this is the first time Brandy has ventured onto "The Parkers" set.

    Another modeling opportunity for Brandy?

  • Wilhelmina, coming off a very successful 30th anniversary year, currently has DKNY phonemes Esther Canadas and Mark Vanderloo among others on their roster. Atlantic is coming off one of the best years ever; the #1 ranked music company in the world will be celebrating their 50th year anniversary this year.

The party at the Metropolitan Pavilion was slated to be an announcement of a major new business venture; but it was also a party to celebrate the end of a very successful fashion week, supermodel and celebrity sightings were high. With Duncan Sheik and his band at the party to perform for the packed house, we were able to get some exclusive backstage photos of some of the interesting people that at this party. Natasha Esch from Wilhelmina, Dieter Esch, President Wilhelmina Models, Brandy, Atlantic Recording artist and actor, and Ron Shapiro Atlantic Group VP/GM, gathered for a photo op. Also backstage was Alex Lundqvist, male supermodel, who is famous for his DKNY and Guess jeans work. We photographed Ron Shapiro and Dieter Esch on stage while they made their historic announcement.

  • Photos by: Michael Spilotro

Could Brandy & Duncan Sheik Be The Next Big Supermodels? These and other Atlantic artists could be if Atlantic Records and Wilhelmina International have their way. In front of a packed house at New York City’s Metropolitan Pavilion, Wilhelmina’s President Dieter Esch (pictured bottom right) and Atlantic Groups Executive VP/GM Ron Shapiro launched a partnership to develop comprehensive, multi-faceted imaging campaigns for Atlantic recording artists. This would make the first-ever collaboration between the recording and fashion industries.

This would put models and recording artists in areas that the public would not normally see them. Recording artists on the runway; or at least in the front row of high profile fashion shows, and models on stage at concerts or at record releases etc. The inside news is that there could be a deal in the works with a shoe company. Atlantic and Wilhelmina will team up to produce a special sound and vision CD-ROM multi-media “promotion book,” spotlighting the music of the participating Atlantic artists and their work while under the exclusive representation of Wilhelmina. The two companies will also link up their respective websites to create a widespread on-line awareness of all cooperative activities. This means stay connected!

Brandy and Lil Kim getting props for their Dope Style

  • n their winter issue Black Elegance recently highlighted some of the superstar trendsetters on the urban music scene, and among those making the cut, none other than the oft-platinum tressed fly girl Lil’ Kim and the ever-stylishly braided Brandy. The article noted the stars’ abilities to make their respective locks a common occurrence in clubs, schools and malls around the country. Other stars noted included Faith and Tyra Banks.
  • And though we’re of course happy to celebrate their undeniable senses of style, we’d also like to give both artists props for their albums. Brandy’s multi-platinum NEVER SAY NEVER continues to be a staple on radio across the country and platinum selling Lil’ Kim’s newest THE NOTORIOUS K.I.M. will be dropping early this Spring.

She says she stays on track and feels a lil pressure to stay successful and so she was working herself a little to hard. Thats all. All the rumors are cleared up and now the fans and even the haters know the truth!!! Brandy also stated that she was not too upset by the rumors the media passed because in her heart she knew that it was all a lie and now she is happy to confirm to her fans that she is fine and ready to get back to work. Brandy's Gospel Track on Puff Daddy's "Thank You" Album

  • Thank you to Dominque for this great Brandy news and Launch too!
  • LAUNCH has learned that singing/acting sensation Brandy may be on board for a new Sean "Puffy" Combs project.
  • According to music producer Warryn "Dub" Campbell, Brandy has recorded a track for Puffy's long-awaited gospel compilation titled "Thank You". The set, which was due in 1998 is now scheduled for release before summer, will feature collaborations from Brian McKnight, Bad Boy's platinum-selling R&B quartet 112, and R&B powerhouse Kelly Price. Brandy's track, "I Know Now", was recorded in Los Angeles.
  • Campbell who is making a name for himself through his collaborations with Mya, Destiny's Child, Dru Hill, and up-and-coming gospel duo Mary,Mary, will executive-produce Thank You. He recently spoke to LAUNCH about Brandy's contribution to the set. "The Brandy song is a nice written ballad written by Mary, Mary. And she loves the song, Puff loves the song, and hopefully it will be on the record. We're trying to get it all straight, that's all. Some artists are funny about having the material out halfaway, either they want to sing it all over, which I don't have a problem with. As long as there happy at the end of the day, I'm happy."

And the other import album is just the same Never Say Never album but has The Boy Is Mine Part II and comes from Japan.

    ----------

If people have the $$$, than go out and buy the Japanese Import, Never Say Never album, it has the bonus track of The Boy Is Mine, Chapter 2!

    ----------

This does not have to with Brandy fully, but it's got to with Rodney Jerkins, possibly working with Britney Spears. The talk was about changing Britney's image if Rodney works with her, he'd give her a new sound, a new, more sexier, Janet Jackson-like image. Now Britney is trying to find other producers so her songs aren't like from her first album and if she chooses Rodney, that'd be a tight choice, agreed? Lets hope Britney works with Rodney because we all know the outcome would be. Just look at the Rodney and Brandy collabo!

    ----------

Moesha is continuing as it is but more re-runs are being aired instead of new ones. Moesha has frozen for a while and no one will know about the Moesha situation until later! The situation is pretty hectic right now and until it is fixed, no new episodes will be aired, besides the ones that were already filmed.

    ----------

    Vote for Brandy! Multiple times!

    ----------

The new partnership which created an Atlantic Artist Division within the Wilhelmina organization, is aimed at developing multifaceted imaging campaigns for Brandy and other Atlantic artists.

Everyone, wait and see Ray J blow up in the year 2000, he founded the Knock Out Entertainment and has many great acts on it, mostly rappers but still!
