Wayne
State University piloted its online computer-based mathematics course for
the Winter 2004 semester. For the next two consecutive semesters
it was only offered at the Wayne County Center (WACC) off-campus site.
Then, it was decided that the university would offer this format to all
MAT 0993 students. So,for the Fall 2004 semester, a brand new, state-of-the-art
computer lab was constructed in the basement of the Science and Engineering
Library. This lab, servicing about 1,000 potential students,
contains 100 work stations. It is staffed by a course coordinator,
a lab manager, and a teaching staff of 22 graduate and undergraduate assistants.
