Green Sanctuary Committee Meeting March 7th, 2006 Attendance: Tom Swigart, Sandra Smith-Gill, Marney Bruce, Chris Hodge, Dave Hutchins, Lora Powell (Worship associate) Earth Day and Earth Month ------------------------- We discussed the Earth Day service. Kathy Moser will be doing the majority of the presentation, both singing and the sermon. Lora will contact Kathy to work out all the details. Sandi continues to round up volunteers to greet, usher, tidy troop, bring flowers, do kitchen work, set up merchandise, and do sales. The Circle of Life school will be working with us to sell fair trade items all month. Chris will look into getting a booth for Earth Day at Baker's Park. The youth group will also be participating in the E-Day service, doing chalice lighting, helping with greeting and ushering, and with the story. Tom will put something in the Unison. Lora will contact Sherrie about publicity and check to see if Kathy needs more sound equipment. Kathy's fee is $350, which will come out of our budget. Tom will take care of getting the money from the Treasury. Work Parties: ------------ We will be working on the wildflower garden on March 11th at 9:00. Marney has curlex (the stuff the highway folks use when they plant grass) to put down over the dirt, which will go over newspaper, cardboard, or burlap. Sandi and Marney have the seeds. Dick is the dirt arranger. Dave will move (heaven?) and earth. Dick is going to put up the bluebird houses. Adopt-a-road trash pick-up -------------------------- The next adopt-a-road pick-up will be March 25th. Tom will advertise soon. Carol A. is urging her chalice community to participate. Dave Hutchins will attend the County Commissioner's meeting to receive kudos for our trash pick-up work. Thanks Dave! Next pick-up will be early June. Budget ------ We have the budgeted $400 to use plus we can use (or return) $1100 from sales. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next meeting will be April 4th, 2006 at 7 p.m.
