A Little Bit About Me!

Me at 6 weeks old

On October 18, 1986 I was brought into this world. My proud parents, Kurt and Terri, named me Shelby Kay Underwood. I was born at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin at 11:41a.m. I weighed in at an even 7 pounds and was 19 inches long. I was born with dark brown eyes and black hair.

I don't remember much about being little. Although I do have a scar on my knee that has a story behind... so I've been told. I went to daycare at Kim Symes', and as the story goes, I fell on the corner of the mopboard and sliced my knee open. My dad had to come to my rescue and take me to the doctor's office for stitches.

Kindergarten... the days I wish I could go back too. I vaguely remember the first day of school. I do believe my mom was more scared than I was. I was ready and super excited to be there. Once I arrived I found my nametag and my desk and sat right down. My poor mom on the other hand had to leave, because she was crying.

Moving up in grades was always a plus. In first grade I had Mrs. Kraft as a teacher. One day we were having free time and the class all wanted to go outside and play on the equipment. She let us and told us we could even go on the monkey bars if we were really careful, the monkey bars were normally restricted to us little ones. I was extremely excited and if I recall right, I was the one who ruined the privilege for everyone else. It came my turn to and I don't really remember but I don't think I even got across two when SPLAT I went into the sandy ground below, face first. I had a bloody nose and mouth and about 10 pounds of sand in my nose and mouth as well. If this wasn't bad enough, I had to call and wake up my dad to tell him what had happened and have him come get me.

As of now, I am a junior here at the Blooming Prairie High School. I have lived in Blooming Prairie all of my life and like the small town. With only a little over a year left here, I have been looking into colleges. I don't know for sure where I want to go yet, but I am looking at either Winona or Mankato, both of which are not far from home. I would like to pursue a career in Special Education and/or Elementary Education. I love working with little kids and would like to work with disabled children.
