Liberty's Child
In the land of milk and honey
A family weeps, a mother cries
As their Terri is being starved
Right before their very eyes;
The sweet lips that once sang
"America God shine his light on thee"
Are now cracked and dry
No water for Terri in the land of the free;
With lips parched and dry
Terri looks into her mother's eyes
from eyes sinking back into her eye-sockets
And asks with her eyes "why"?
With a heart that had no more tears
Terri's mother leaned over
and whispered in Terri's ear
"God has shined His light on you
You are the one God chose to walk the mile
You, my Terri, are Liberty's Child."
With lips parched and dry
Terri looks into her mother's eyes
from eyes sinking back into her eye-sockets
And asks with her eyes "why"?
And, that is my question to you
who are free to taste the water"Why?"
Why, in the (once) greatest country on earth,
Does disabled Terri Schiavo have to die?
If you are a father or mother
look into the faces of your children
And tell me how will you answer them
When the time comes for them to ask:
"What does liberty really mean?
When you saw Terri's mom and dad cry
What did you do.....and what was your answer
to Terri Schindler-Schiavo when she asked you "Why?"
