Now the wooing days are ended,
And your souls in one are blended,
And you're ready for the journey
down the road,
If you'd never know of parting
Pause a moment as you're starting,
And remember, each must carry half the load.
There's a goal and you can win it,
But, just hesitate a minute,
There are ups and downs awaiting,
so beware,
Through the rough and stormy weather,
You will have to pull together,
Disappointment, doubt and trouble,
you must share
There'll be giving, there'll be taking,
But there ne'er can be forsaking
One another, if you ever hope to win;
There'll be sorrow mixed with pleasure
If you'd know life's fullest measure,
I would warn you, as the journey you begin.
Joys and pleasures, you must share them,
Cares and troubles, you must bear them,
They are sent to test the faith of man and wife,
They're a part of life and living,
Of receiving and of giving,
As you wander down the little lane of life.
So, your lives are just beginning,
And your chance is fine for winning,
If together you will bravely meet the test,
May the hand of fate ne'er chide you,
But, instead, forever guide you,
And the fortunes that await you,
be the best.
