l/ - light romance, kissing etc. m/ - heavy making out but, fade to black before it gets too rowdy h/ - graphic sex scenes.
au fics: doesn't follow the original and official stroyline. characters may act totally different. death fics: a character from the books/films dies in this fiction. often a major character. humor fics: this fiction contains humor either in the way it's written or the things it contains. romance fics: two or more characters fall in love. can also be one character loving another secretly.
pov:point of view. ie. told from the perspective of one character/first person pov. a.k.a an 'introspection' piece. pwp:plot what plot? there isn't meant to be any deep meaning behind the story. Usually a fic put together for some 'action' between characters. mpreg: male pregnancy. a man becomes/is pregnant by whatever means the author deems necessary.
G: suitable for general audiences; everyone can read it. PG-13: recommended to people 13 years and over. M15: recommended for mature audiences 15 years and over. NC-17: strongly advised for mature audiences, people above the age of 17. Contains very mature to adult themes.
slash: a relationship, usually includes quite graphic scenes, between two male characters. femme slash: the same as slash but for female characters. norm: the same as above but for characters of opposite sexes.
bdsm:bondage dominance, sado-masochism. consensual sex with bondage, and whips etc. non-consensual: rape, non-consensual sex etc. ooc: the character in question is behaving 'abnormally' i.e. not according to their canon personality. This can be rather disturbing at times. incest: same as in the dictionary, sex between two people so closely related by blood. alcohol/drug use: someone in the fic is either a heavy drinker or uses narcotics. angst: heavy angst; prepare to be depressed and have a tissue box handy. shota-con: sex with a minor / under-age sex. Also known as chan. spoilers: spoilers to the series if you haven't finished yet. suicidal themes: also covers suicide (conviniently covered by the Deathfic classification), and attempted suicide. Someone in the fic is contemplating taking their own life. violence: graphic violence in the fic; not for the faint hearted. goes up to [extreme violence].
