title rating/warnings part ii: the duel Next day Hermione made her way down to breakfast with Parvati and Lavender, who were discussing Divination, as she walked into the Great Hall she glanced over at the Slytherin table, Draco looked up, as though he had felt her eyes on him, and winked at her smiling slightly, she grinned and looked away. She reached the Gryffindor table and sat down across from Harry and Ron, in a very good mood, as Lavender and Parvati sat with Dean and Seamus. "What did Draco want yesterday?" asked Harry as she helped herself to breakfast. "Oh nothing. What's the matter Ron? You're looking really... well... moody? Angry?" "Angry, ready for sweet revenge, for five years I have put up with him." "Revenge towards who? Who have you had to put up with?" Harry rolled his eyes and laughed, "Oh come on Hermione! Like you don't know!" "No I don't. who?" Harry laughed more, "You'll be next mudbloods... no one asked your opinion you filthy little mudblood... in other words..." "Malfoy." said Ron grimacing. Hermione shifted uncomfortably in her seat, "Oh... well erm... what's happening?" "Battle of the Purebloods. Weasley's vs Malfoy's both our families will be there." "What will you do if you lose? Don't forget what Malfoy is like." "Yeah I know, but Harry has been helping me with jinxes and stuff." Rons ears turned red, "I'm doing this for you Hermione." She looked at him shocked //Draco was right, he does fancy me//, he stared into his porridge as though hoping to drown in it and never return, even as a ghost. *** Hermione edged her way into the Great Hall at six o' clock that evening, the dueling stage that they had used in their second year was once more standing in the middle of the room, she took a seat nearest the stage so she could get a clear view, slowly the room filled some of the people looked scared others excited. "On the left we have the Malfoy family and on the right the Weasley family, both containing generation after generation of wizards and witches!" Lee Jordan, as usual, was doing the commentary, "So without further ado let the dueling begin!" To Hermione it all happened so quickly one minute Draco was being booed because he was beating Ron and the next... "Father please... I... I don't know what... wait please father." "Draco... you are no longer my son, you are a disgrace to the name of Malfoy and you no longer belong to the family... you might aswell be a muggle." "No... father..." "STOP IT, JUST STOP IT I DON'T NEED THIS NOW DRACO I ALREADY HAVE YOUR MOTHER CONSTANTLY BREAKING DOWN INTO FITS OF TEARS OVER BELLATRIX RUNNING OFF TO GOD KNOWS WHERE AND WE HAVE SEVERUS T FIND BECAUSE HE IS MISSING ASWELL!" Everyone watched in silence, no one dared say anything to Lucius because they knew that when he was in that type of mood he could turn extremely nasty, but Draco carried on pleading. "Father..." "SHUT UP!" Lucius turned and hit his son across the face. Draco looked at his father stunned he then turned and ran out of the castle with Hermione hot on his heel. "Draco wait!" she grabbed his arm wheeling him round. "You'll never love me now, I'm a failure and a disgrace to the name of wizard." "No you're not." she flung her arms round his neck and kissed him, "I love you Draco..." she hesitated, "Lets run away together." "Well you'll need to pack, I'm already packed I planned to runaway after the duel whether I won or not." "I prepared myself for this so I packed before I went to the duel.. you forget I am the cleverest witch in the year so I knew what your fathers reaction would be like if you lost.. I prayed you wouldn't but..." she sighed and drew her wand, "accio suitcases, accio broomstick." He took her hand and helped her onto the back of the broomstick, he got on and they flew off into the setting sun.
