Herbs and plants have been in existence since the beginning of time and have been utilized for just as long for many different uses. If you study the Chinese and Native American, to name only a couple, it is obvious that these cultures have applied their knowledge to medicinal needs, ceremonies and many other situations that have required the need for different herbs and plants.
It is commonly believed that the witches of Salem used different herbs and plants in their alleged practice of witchcraft. Even in modern day times it is believed by many that to place whole bay leaves above a door way or window will prevent evil from entering a dwelling.

Cooked fish lately? That wonderful aromatic scent! You can banish it with Lemon Grass! Place some of the herb in a grinder and sit back and enjoy the wonderful scent of lemon. Sprinkle some of the powder around the house; put some in a pot of hot water; drop some down your garbage disposal or even sift some into your garbage cans. Diaper odors? Not with Lemon Grass, or even Lavender, around.
Lemon Grass, along with Geranium, is said to repel mosquitoes and flies. So there are only a few examples of what herbs can be used for. There really is a tremendous amount of information on other uses for these wonderful plants.
If you enjoy home-made sachets or potpourri, experiment with different herbs to find a blend you enjoy. They make wonderful gifts for the holidays, anniversaries, birthdays and all other occasions.
