| "Spellbinding",
"hypnotic",
"enchanting"... these are just a few words
used by audience members to describe the dramatic performance of
Reddy Freddy. Performing high energy dance music
in the middle Tennessee area since 1994, Reddy Freddy
is fronted by Freddy J, one of the most energetic performers in Nashville.
The singers and players in Reddy Freddy give a must-see,
must-hear performance as they provide the captivating dance beat that will
rev the crowd up and keep them out on the dance floor wanting more!
If there has ever been a band that just had to be seen to be believed,
Reddy Freddy is it!
Freddy (lead & harmony vocals) was born in
Michigan, where he began singing before he was even able to talk. Drawing
on the vocal styles of his childhood idols (Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson,
Aretha Franklin, & Gladys Knight), Freddy has been able to form his own
distinct style. At the age of eight, Freddy began performing in (and winning)
local talent contests. At 14, he began performing professionally, opening
for such acts as Reba McEntire, Larry Gatlin, and Dolly Parton. When he was
19, while on the road with his own band, he met Tommy Durden and Mae Axton
(the writers of Heartbreak Hotel, the first hit song for Elvis Presley),
who took him under their wing & brought him to Nashville. Through subsequent
contacts, Freddy was signed to Next Plateau Records, prior to Salt'N'Pepa
putting that label on the map. Unable to find a niche with their electronic
rap format, Freddy let their contract expire, freeing him to seek a label
more attuned to his abilities. Since then, Freddy has done many studio sessions,
stage performances, sound demos and jingles. Freddy also is involved
in many charitable organizations such as victims of domestic violence, victims
of substance abuse, and a cause closest to his heart, victims of child abuse.
All three causes can be heard in a heart wrenching original song entitled
A Little Girl is Crying, which won a national songwriting contest.
Debbie (lead & harmony
vocals/keyboards)
is a native Nashvillian who nurtured her love for music at a very early age
through exposure to her parents gospel quartet The Bellaires. While they
were cutting albums, she began sing harmony, and took up piano lessons at
the age of 7. During high school, she sang and played in various groups and
won a songwriting contest. During college, she sang in contemporary Christian,
jazz, and classical ensembles at Belmont University and that was when she
began getting session work singing in the studio. After college she played
and traveled full time with the local bands Montana, and then Floyd the Barber.
In addition, you currently can hear her voice in numerous commercials on
TV and radio.
Stan
(Keyboards/Guitars/Vocals), also from Michigan, is the most recent member
of Reddy Freddy. Stan has played professionally since 1970 in a variety of
styles including rock, country and standards. Playing music full time, Stan
gained proficiency on various instruments including lead guitar, keyboards,
banjo, fiddle, mandolin and bass, in addition to singing. During his career
Stan has toured the United States and abroad with such well known national
acts such as Solar Wind and Mickey Gilley. Outside of performing, Stan writes
and records original music and has developed computer and video production
skills in the studio.
Kevin
(Guitars/Vocals) relocated to Nashville after receiving his music
degree from the University of Miami in Florida. Originally from Dayton, Ohio,
Kevin was raised playing & listening to rock & pop dance music, but
after arriving in the "music city", he began diversifying his style with
the wide range of blues & country popular in Nashville. Kevin had performed
in several bands playing in Middle Tennessee before forming
Reddy Freddy in 1994, then known as After Dark.

Ray (drums/vocals) has studied
under jazz drummer Charles Perry, and studio greats Joe Franco, Rod Morganstein
(Dixie Dregs and Winger) and Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp). He relocated
to Nashville after graduating from Five Towns Music College in New York.
His diversity of styles, ranging from rock, R&B, country, and jazz, led
to various session gigs and club performances in New York. After 12 years
on that scene, Ray was ready for a change of atmosphere, and moved to Nashville
to help start Reddy Freddy. |
