The Lokta paper production is a voluntary cottage industry especially of the high land inhabitant women. Thus this cottage industry has created self employment in the remote villages. In Nepal Lokta paper was used to record the time and date and places of stars in the moments of birth of child. The money lenders used to make bonds in Lokta papers to keep it for a long Long time to prevent it from insects and fungus. Many a mythological documents are printed and hand written by the ancestors in Lokta papers. Important official "Mantra and Sutra" are described in Lokta papers, keeping in mind its durability. Now a days the organic character of Lokta paper has been flashed out and government authorities has started to use it in official use.
