Soap Opera Star may be next Superman

From IMDB

The competition for the role of Superman in the revival of the Warner Bros. franchise has been narrowed down to Brendan Fraser and Guiding Light star Matthew Bomer, Daily Variety reported today (Friday), citing no sources. The trade paper suggested that Bomer may have the inside edge given Warner's determination to cut the budget of the film to $200 million. Former Superman star Christopher Reeve was also plucked off a soap opera, Love of Life, in 1977 at the age of 24 to play the Man of Steel. (He was playing a character named Ben, the name of Bomer's character on GL.) Bomer is also 24, born during the year that Superman was released. And, to underscore the serendipity aspect, Bomer bears a striking resemblance to the younger Reeve.
