Submission Guidelines for Illusions and Machines:

1.) This is an archive for all Matrix slash fanfiction. (Fanfiction being stories written by fans, simple enough. Fic is the shortened version of fiction, it’s just easier to write.) That means we only deal with stories that have something to do with The Matrix. (This includes all three movies, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, etc.) As it said on our front page, this is a slash or male/male female/female site. If that thing isn’t your cup of tea, Note from Christina: ^_^ TEA IS GOOD! Um... that is all. you shouldn’t be here in the first place.

2.) We accept all slash pairings here; you just have to be clear in your labeling so we can categorize your work accordingly.

Label your fanfiction with the following information:

Title:
Author(s):
Email:
Pairing:
Rating:
Summary:
Series/sequel:
Genre:
Warnings:
Feedback:
Author's Notes:

Title:
Put simply, the title.

Author(s) name:

Your name(s), online handle(s), pen name(s), or any other nickname you wish to be known as.

E-mail:
- Your e-mail mail address so we can contact you in case something comes up. If you want your email address to remain private, please tell us. Otherwise, we will put up your address with your submission so you can get in touch with your faithful readers and recieve feedback.

Pairing:
Label what pairing, or pairings, we’ll be seeing in your fiction.(For instance, Neo/Smith.)

Rating:
Label your fanfiction with the following guidelines:

G: Most Disney films are rated G, so keep that in mind as you label. No swearing, no sex, no violence, just light, good-hearted romance.

PG: PG fan fics are a bit heavier on the emotional level than G fics, mainly because there may be violent situations or a few curse words. Slash content is still light, no sex.

PG-13: Ah, PG-13, the rating for every fic stuck in the middle. Once again, violence is a bit heavier and there may be some hints of sex, but nothing graphic. (For these stories we recommend the reader have a maturity level of at least 13 to be able to read them.)

R: With an R rating there’s sex, gore, swearing, or adult situations. (Not necessarily all of those have to be in one fic in order for it to be an R-rated fic) It’s sometimes hard to determine a sex scene from a graphic sex scene, just use your best judgment.

NC-17: Usually you can tell when you write an NC-17 story. The sex scenes are graphic, there’s tons of gore, swearing like in Scar Face, etc. (Again we here at Illusions and Machines recommend that the reader have a maturity level of a 17-year-old. Christina's Note: And we mean the mature ones. Not those "DUDEEEEEEE!" ones.) That way the author doesn’t get nasty letters and we don’t get complaints on how you were “scarred for life”.)

Summary:
Give a summary of your story.

Series/sequel:
If you story is part of a series, name it. If not put "None" or something of the sort.

Genre:
Fantasy, Fluffy, angst, adventure, romance, sci-fiction, what not.

Warnings:
Please warn the reader if there’s rape, incest or anything someone might object to if not warned firsthand.

Feedback:
Tell if you want it. Beg for it. Tell how badly you need it. Give the big Elrohir puppy-dog eyes. They respond with letters saying if they like it, don't like, cries of sexual gratification, or whatever else they may come up with.

3.)Now while we’re a very open-minded archive, we won’t accept any fic that’s written like tHiS or anything really annoying to read. Good grammar is a must, and we recommend finding yourself a good Beta reader to go over your work with you. As of right now we don’t have Matrix beta reader index, but once we get going we should have one up. Until then, have a friend read your fic or email us and we’ll see what we can do for you. Christina's Note: No, we're not going to bite. Send it in and we'd be happy to check it. However, having a few typos or an occasional slip up is fine. I do it all the time. Mostly after I have it beta...ed and then edit it close to a million times. Heck, there are probably a few mistakes on this website. If you see any, TELL US!

4.) When answering a challenge be sure to write “Matrix Challenge” in the subject title of your email. Same goes with most submissions, write the nature of the email in the subject title. (Example, “Questions” for a question, “Fan Fiction Submission” for…well, you get the idea.)

5.) To help us out, please include this as well. It's for the pairing pages. Less work for us. More updates daily AND ^_^ It makes us happy when we have less work. Submit information (just for pairing pages as follows:)
