Title: How to Model and Teach Safe and Healthy Practices of Technology Use

Workshop Description: 

            Participants will learn different ways to use technology to enhance their educational lives.  This workshop will enhance the lives of teachers, administrators, and staff about the ways they can help students become independent learners throughout the use of technology.

One and a Half Hours


Who should attend:

Professionals from any content area and elementary level, that would like to gain knowledge about the importance of safe and healthy practices of technology use.


Framing Question:

(1) How can I work with the school community to develop academic activities that are aligned with the state content standards and promote effective use of technology?

(2)  Can I create a learning community whose members learn and teach each other using technology as a vehicle?

(3) Does the use of different technologies really support learner-centered strategies for all students?

 
Competencies:

(1) Create learning experiences that align with state content standards, student information and technology standards and best practices. 

(2) Create new learning environments and develop new roles of teacher and learner.

(3) Use technologies to support student centered learning strategies for all students.

 

Objectives:

            (1) The participants will demonstrate three different ways that they can develop activities for students which will promote effective use of technology.


 
           (2) The teachers will learn new ways to create new learning environments for mainstreamed students and students with special needs, strategies and technology that accommodate for multiple intelligences and learning styles.
