PERSONAL:

By growing up very close to the capital of the United States, I have always been surrounded by politics. However it wasn’t until this year that I really became interested in it. I am fortunate enough to go to a high school that offers a political science class. I decided to take the class not really knowing what I was getting myself into. My original plan was to take a class to get an easy “A”. But much to my surprise I really enjoyed the class. As the class went on I started to see the possibility of making it a career. The teacher was really passionate about what he was teaching and in effect made the students feel the same way. He brought an excitement to politics that I hadn’t seen before.

At the same time I was taking an AP Government class. This gave me the opportunity to view the history behind the politics that I was learning about. My teacher for that class was focused on making us understand how the government works through activities. This gave me an opportunity to become a Supreme Court Justice, an advocator for Megan’s Law as well as a member of the Constitutional Convention.

Collectively all of these activities and wonderful teachers have helped to influence my political socialization and me. My parents have not played such a huge role in this because they feel that I should come to my own conclusions on politics. However they support me in my curiosity and exploration of this subject.

      Summer Plans:

My summer plans consist of working at Hiddenbrook Pool as a lifeguard for the 3rd year. Hanging out with my HB Boys, my good friends Kyle, Katie, Jamie-James, Ashley, Stephanie, Dan and Chunk. Towards then end of the summer I get to go with my two best buddies Julie and Matt to the Outer Banks for a week. Then I leave around the 20th of August because I am off to college!!

Future Plans……..

I am currently enrolled at Christopher-Newport University and will be starting my first semeseter in late August. I really have no major in mind yet however I enjoy social sciences, history and political sciences so maybe I will major in that. I have always wanted to become a teacher so maybe I will teach. Photography has been a part of my life for about five years now so I want to try and keep that hobby going.
