3:Merpeople 3: Merpeople

I soon stopped struggling against whatever it was that held me captive. I was weakened from lack of oxygen and when I least expected it... It let me go. I floated to the top, confused and began to swim again, glad to have the oxygen. And once again, it grabbed me. I was even more confused by this time, as you can imagine. I began to struggle again, for it to let me free as it did before. The more I struggled and moved, the deeper I was taken. And then it clicked. If I stopped moving, it would let me go. I did for at least three times. Every time I began to swim, it took me into the cold water again. But once above water I mumbled a spell that would allow me to have gills for as long as I wished.

So, I was taken beneath, struggling so I wouldn't be let out. I soon saw what had taken me. Merpeople. I rolled my eyes at their stupidity. I wondered if they knew the ones at Hogwarts, who knew me quite well. The ugly, green creatures dragged me into their villiage, far beneath this... I supposed it was a lake. They took me to the what I asumed was the center of the town, where the Cheiftess would live. Now this Mertown was much more beautiful than the one in the lake at Hogwarts. The houses were built out of many shells and stones. And they had gorgeous gardens if coral and seaweed.

The Cheiftess came out of a large building to my right and frowned. I hoped someone could speak English because I certainly wasn't up-to-date on any Merish. She looked at one of my gaurds and began to talk to him in a very low and mournful voice. I guess above water they sound shreiky and horrible. The guard turned to me and said, in perfect English, "The Honourable Chieftess Arianna wants your name and where you come from human."

"My name is Sirius Black. I come from England. Or Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." I replied, praying to any god or goddess I could think of that they were friendly with the colony at Hogwarts. The guard told this to the Mermaid, who did not seem impressed but scowled even more deeply.

"The Honourable Cheiftess says that she does not know of any 'Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry'. She does not like you human, and wants to know how you can speak and breath under water."

"I'm sorry she doesn't like me. I like her well enough--"

"Do not back talk me, outsider!"

"I wasn't." I said, my impatience rising, "I can breath under water because of a spell." He told this to her and with that her expression became amused. She spoke something to him.

"Her Highness says that you will be eaten alive but grindylows for our amusement, stranger. Your story is not believable. And says that you must be a very powerful demon if you can become a dog!" He laughed, menacingly.

"I'm not a demon!" I said. "I am a man and friend of Merpeople. Let me go!"

He laughed again and carried me away. He and another bound my hands and legs. Once again, I remembered everything good about my life, wanting to die thinking of those I loved most.
