5th Harry Potter Book Summary

If u haven't got the new Harry Potter book yet or r too lazy to read it yourself here's a pretty detailed summary:

It begins w/harry laying in a bush under a window on a really hot summer day. He and his cousin, Dudley r attacked by 2 dementors while walking home. Harry does magic to make the dementors go away just as one of them is about to give his cousin a kiss. Harry gets in lots of trouble w/the ministry of magic and they want to expell him. Harry has to carry Dudley home on his back and when they get home his aunt and uncle think that he attacked dudley. Just then a owl comes and says that instead of expelling him they'll give him a hearing. The Durseleys were gonna kick him out of his house, but then a howler comes for petunia and then says he can stay but he has to stay in his room. Later that night the Durselys leave the house and a bunch of auorors including lupin and the real moody visit him and take him to the headquarters of the order of the phoenix. He meets Ron and Hermione there and gets really mad at them. Percy has left the Weasley family because the ministry of magic claims that dumbledore and harry are liars because they say that voldermort has returned. percy's family supports harry and dumbledore so he choses the ministry. He stays at the headquarter, which is also sirius' house for the rest of the summer. The order of the phoenix is a secret group that protects against voldermort. at the court hearing dumbledore defends harry and harry ends up being free of all charges, even from the previous years. Fudge and this umbridge lady are really mad that he won the case. Ron and Hermione are made prefects. On the ride to Hogwarts they meet this really strange girl named Luna Lovegood. The new defense against dark arts teacher is umbridge. The short ugly toad-like teacher is determined to make the students' lives miserable, especially Harry's and his friends'. When Harry makes an outburst in her class about the dark lord returning she gives him one week of detension. (the detension is soooo gross!) he has to write "i shall not tell lies" on paper w/the pen that has no ink. instead it wrties in his blood (ewwww)and cuts those words into his hand. Percy finally writes to Ron to congraduate him on making prefect, but wants him to stay away from Harry. In Umbridge's classes they are not allowed to use their wands or practice the spells, but just read from the books. Umbridge is make high inquisitor and makes all kinds of changes in the school. Harry, his friends, and about 25 other kids make a club to practice defense against the dark arts since Umbridge wouldn't let then do any magic. Ron is picked to be the new Griffindor goalkeeper for quiddich. Hedwig is injured when delivering mail to Harry. Umbridge watches all the teachers teach and knows that Trelawney is a fraud. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are talking to Sirius in the fire when he suddenly disappears and then they see Umbridge's fat stubby fingers grab the air where Sirius was. Dobby helps Harry find the perfect place to hold their meetings. Their club name is called Dumbledore's Army. During their first quiddich game Ron doesn't save any goals, but luckly Harry catches the snitch and wins the game for them. Harry and the Weasley twins are banned from quiddich by Umbridge. Hagrid is also back from his journey and they find out that he and Madame Maxine have been to giant country and trying to get them to be on dumbledore's side. Hagrid is badly beaten up. Marietta(Cho's friend) tells umbridge about the DA club and dobby tries to warn then about it ahead of time but they get in trouble. Dumbledore bales him out by saying that is was his idea, not Harry's. the weasley twins fly away from Hogarts for good. Griffindor ends up winning the qudditch cup and Ron actually saves goals.
