The Mr Men were originally created by Roger Hargreaves in 1971, after being asked by his son, "What does a tickle look like?". Since then Roger Hargreaves went on to write an entire series of Mr Men, personifying charactaristics such as being mean, tall or clever.
The series was originally called the "Mister" series. The first books cost a mere 15p to buy, and consisted of (I think) Mr Tickle, Mr Greedy, Mr Nosey, Mr Happy, Mr Sneeze and Mr Bump.
