The Venice league is the one I grew up with and have the information on. My Dad was a manager/coach in Venice for 14 years, and also served on the Board of Directors. His team, 7-UP "Cardinals" won more Venice championships than any other. The All-Star teams from Venice won 9 out of 14 Middle Baseball League "World Series" tournaments. Don't get me wrong, I would be ecstatic if someone affiliated with the other 15 leagues sent me information to add to this site, but for now, these are "my" boys!

Locally, the teams played at Penmar Park, now known as
Penmar Recreation Center. The baseball field was on the west end of the
park at the corner of Penmar Ave. & Lake St., adjacent to the Lincoln
Place Apts..
There was a snack bar open for most games, with women from the Ladies Auxiliary operating it. They had hot dogs, peanuts, cold drinks, the typical fare you would find at a ball park. |
