An Analytical statement is one in which the predicate(fact) is contained in the object.
Such as " that bachelor is unmarried ", the predicate " is unmarried " is contained in the object : bachelor"
A Synthetic statement is one in which the predicate is not contained in the object and is new information.
Such as " that bachelor is named Jones ", the predicate " named Jones " is NOT contained in the object " bachelor " .
KANT tried to show that a Synthetic statement could have an apriori predicate.
His paradigm case was " I MUST BE MORAL "
As he rightly pointed out this IS Synthetic, the predicate " must be moral " is NOt contained in teh object " I ".
But he made a mistake in saying that " must be moral " is apriori meaning that it is known before you are told about it!

Kant wrote about synthetic and analytic statements
He also wrote about apriori and aposteriori predicates
He wrote three great torgid books trying to prove that one can have a Synthetic Apriori statement
he was wrong!
