Vandergriff

According to family legend, Henderson Vandergriff, originally surnamed Wilson, fled Ireland after he and his two brothers were involved in the unsuccessful Irish Union Rebellion. He and his brothers fled to the Netherlands, where they changed their name to Vandergriff and lived a few years, then came to the United States about 1804.

Copy of Bill of Sale for a slave
(This document is attached only for its historic value. I'm uncertain of its exact connection to the family, but this copy was given to me by one of our Sellars relatives. The appearance of this document here should not be taken to mean that I approve of human bondage or that I approve of my ancestors' life-styles! Some of them, for God's sake, were Republicans!)
