Sit Forward

(to Stand Back)
by Lindsey Slayre

They all looked...as I walked by

Taking off that “Kick Me” sign would’ve been just

fine

They’ve done it...again and again

First he kicked my butt then he ran

No one knows how I feel

Why don’t you try grading papers all the time

Few kids will listen to me

They find school annoying...So do I

Sit forward...sit forward

From the back of my room

I could hear you

It’s not right...it’s not right

To be talking during classes

(Talking during classes)

I wish I could retire...

I hate math and grammar talk

Hey, I’m even allergic to chalk

If I see one more apple

I think I’ll puke

So I walk on down to the teachers lounge

I think kids attention spans

Are more than I can do

If one kid cannot add

I smack him ‘cross the head

And that is all

Sit forward...sit forward

From the back of my room

I could hear you

It’s not right...it’s not right

To be talking during classes

(Talking during classes)

(Talking during classes)

So I walk on down to the teachers lounge

I think kids attention spans

Are more than I can do

If one kid...cannot add

I’ll just beat him ‘cross the head

That is all
