In Person Experiences (Since 2002)

LATEST ADDITIONS: Dontrelle Willis, Ben Sheets, Jerome Williams

UPDATES: Tony Gwynn, Jeff Bagwell, Ben Grieve, Tom Glavine

There should be mostly stars/semistars listed here

Bobby Abreu- Gracious signer, will not sign multiples. Will typically sign when approched. UPDATE 2003: He signed before the game along the sidelines. Just missed him before he left.

Sandy Alomar Jr. - Great guy. Multiples. Said he'd be right back, no BS here, he signed for everyone. UPDATE: He was more than happy to sign some autos before a game in Hou '03. Wish his bro were this easy to get.

Moises Alou- Out of the 5 or6 times I have approached him I have been turned down once.

Garret Anderson- Had him one on one at Spring Training 2002 and he ignored me, luckily he is a great ttm signer.

Brad Ausmus- Great signer, will make time during BP to sign if he isnt starting, may ask to personalize photos, SSs etc

Jeff Bagwell- Class act... also a quiet guy, but gracious signer after home games, rarely during BP. He will sign @ the stadium on occasion while on the road. 2004: Still an excellent, although quiet, signer. Signs for everybody. Still a very cool guy.

Rocco Baldelli- Nothn to say but good things 'bout this kid. He signed everything put infront of his face. Much like the rest of the D-Rays team he is a great signer. He wont say "no" to you unless he has a good reason.

Craig Biggio- always signs before gamessince 2001 season, hard to get @ home prior to 2001. Wont sign for old people or dealers @ home. UPDATE: He seems to recognize me and no longer will sign for me... :-( 2nd UPDATE 2: 2003 Is no different. He is avoiding me again! Very frustrating, but Ive gotten him probably 35+ times in the past 4-5 years.

Josh Beckett- future ace is a Hou native, so he signs every game (I've been to). No multiples.

Lance Berkman- funny as hell, rarely makes time before games at home, but if you ask him he will always say yes. He no longer signs in Houston, but is a kick ass signer @ hotels etc...

Hank Blalock- He really enjoyed signing for the fans. He talked to the fans and made small talk etc. Nice kid w/ good upside. Too bad he isnt ROY eligible.

Barry Bonds- never have tried, but I know he is tough. Heard he signed after a few ST games in 2002.

Aaron Boone- Signed for everyone at the Reds game I went to. No multples.

Bret Boone- M's star is a pretty good signer. Likes the small crowds but will sign at the stadium

Sean Burroughs- made time to sign for a few minutes before a ST game in 2002

Vinny Castilla- I finally managed to get this former Astro before a Braves/Astros game. He didn't seem to like a big crowd. He signed for a few people (inc me) and ran off.

Eric Chavez- I heard he was tough to obtain, but he is a great guy. Multiples.

Craig Counsell- Great little guy. Signed before most every DBacks game Ive been to. Multiples, of course. UPDATE 2002: REFUSED to sign for me @ each of the three D-Backs games in 2002!!! What's his prob???

JD Drew- this guy is a major league a$$ hole to fans. I managed to get him (granted, there was a big crowd) but he didnt seem to want to be in our presence. No sweet spots, good luck getting him when he comes. Doesnt care if ur a kid, dealer or wahever.

Adam Dunn - local guy signed for only me. I was lucky enough to be standing next to a friend of his. On the Reds 2nd trip to Hou in 02 he waived us over to him and signed. Whenever 'round Griff, he takes the Griffey attitude (he'll ignore you).

Morgan Ensberg- signs just before most every home game. Hear his road habits are the same. Multiples. UPDATE 2003: He now signs as he drives into the stadium (most of the time), no longer signs during BP. Still a bad-ass in 2004. Multiples. Always signs before games at home.

Darin Erstad- Didnt look like he enjoyed signing, but he did. No multiples.

Carl Everett- Has been known for being strictly one per person. He was nice when he signed though. The lady with him didnt look like his wife, though. SOS in 2002, he talked to the Astro fans, told them how much he hated Boston and Jimy and signed for most everyone, hates the dealers with a passion.

Andres Galarraga- Always a willing signer weather at the stadium or the hotel. Will talk with fellow Latino fans sometimes.

Freddy Garcia- I was the only collector in the lobby so he signed one for me.

Nomar Garciapara- Have seen him play twice and both times he signed for about 15 minutes before each game. He advertainly avoided signing for the section of the stands that had dealers... went straight for the kids. Will personailze bigger items like photos, bats etc.

Jason Giambi- Not sure how he is with the Yanks, but he was always good for an autograph or two when he was with the A's.

Jeremy Giambi- Didnt seem to want to sign, but he did. People starting throwing 5 cards in his face but he was cool enough to sign two each.

Brian Giles- He said "I'll be right back." Usually this is not a good sign. But a few minutes later he signed for the 5 or 10 people that were waiting. UPDATE 2003: He signed both days that he came in (Padres). Cool guy, he is similar to Bagwell. Both great signers, super stars... accomodating.

Marcus Giles- Just as cool as his big bro. Multiples.

Tom Glavine- Great, gracious signer. If you talk to him, he will respond. He will sign multiples. Will add 'Cy 92, 98' if requested. 2004: Still signing like hell. Signed multiples. Will personalize if you request it. I got him 3x in two days. He recognizes you, but he is kind enough to say nothing.

Luis Gonzalez- Very open guy, have never been said no to. He enjoys signing and pre-D-Back days he would sign multiples, dont know about now though.

Juan Gonzalez- signed once during the series before a game for everyone. Juan Gon is fan friendly altho I didnt see him sign @ ALL drung the Rangers 2003 visit to Houston.

Mark Grace- He would have signed for us but there were like 2 or 3 kids there and like 5 or 6 adults. UPDATE 2003: He signed at the hotel for the few of us that were there. He kinda went out of his way to do it too, so that's a plus.

Shawn Green- Signed for me although he didnt like the idea of me chunking a card over the dugout. UPDATE 2003: Same ole schiznik here. Signed for every1 who wanted something signed.

Ken Griffey Jr.- Believe me, you've got a better chance of getting Barry Bonds 10x in one series than getting Griffey once. There were between 3-8 people evertime Ive asked him and all he mumbles is "I can't." Probably BS... I dont even bother to ask any more.

Mark Grudzielanek- Pretty cool guy, will sign multiples and if you talk him up a little and let him borrow your sharpie you should ask for a gameused item and he may give it to you. UPDATE 2003: He still signed for every1 even tho he had a cast on his right arm... class act.

Ben Grieve- 1998 ROY is pretty shy and easy going. He signed for everybody who wanted something. You just have to call him over, and he'll come. Cant wait till he escapes from Tampa. 2004: SOS in Houston during the Brewers first trip. Still a cool guy.

Vladimir Guerrero- Terrible IP signer, just walks/ runs by you ignoring you. Supposedly is shy. To his credit he signs his fan mail.

Tony Gwynn He signed for at least 45 min at the game I went to. He was strictly one per person but that didnt really matter. As good inperson as he used to be in the mail. 2004: As a member of the press (ESPN) he is still awesome. He talked and poked fun ((in a nice way) at some collectors. Knows a lot of his stuff will end up on eBay and he seems to accept that. Very cool guy. Future HOFer.

Mike Hampton- looks like a real a-hole and sometimes he was while with the Astros. It was either "yes", or "not now." 2004: Was the best signing Brave as he came thru Houston. Got him once each day he was in town. Have nothing against his selling out anymore.

Todd Helton- This guy just didnt seem to like me at ST 2002. Of the four times I approached him he signed one...and that was when I practically stuck my arm in his car when he left the stadium. I guess he didnt like the Astros hat I was wearing, the he didnt like the A's hat, then I went hatless and was successful.

Rickey Henderson- Seemed like a real prick that didnt enjoy signing at all. But I was lucky enough to get him on a ball. Unfortunately it was on the other team's team ball... He will acknowledge fans who call for him. I was @ his 1st game as a Dodger and he didnt sign.

Richard Hidalgo- He is a VERY nice guy. I hear that he is an OK signer on the road but there is no way in hell you can get him in Houston unless you come to the stadium 4 hrs before game time or he is at a signing (hasnt since 2000). UPDATE 2003: I have gotten RIchard 4Xs this year! I hadn't even gotten him that many times in the last 4 years COMBINED. He will ask you if you want the ball sweet spotted or paneled. SUPER cool guy!

Tim Hudson- Cool guy, likes the kids.Wil personalize if he thinks your going to sell it. Multiples.

Andruw Jones- signed for EVERYBODY before BP @ a game in St Pete (ST). Signed on the D-Rays side of the field (where I was). UPDATE 2003: He once again signed for everybody before a Braves/Astros game. There were a helluva lotta people there too. In 2004 he still makes an effort to get everybody. Got him as he came into the estadio.

Torii Hunter- signed for EVERYBODY in two different areas before a ST game in Bradenton. Seems to be a cool guy. He signs multiples.

Gabe Kapler- Looked like he was going to throw a fit when two people (myself included) walked up and asked him to sign a card and a photo. He did, but I dont think he enjoyedit. Signed before a Fri game in 2002 for everyone who asked.

Jeff Kent- Managed to get him (with only about 5 or 10 other people around me) when the gates opened @ Astros Field. Contradictary to other reports, he seemed to enjoy signing. UPDATE!!! I didnt get him but I actually saw him sign beofre a game the day he was put on the DL!!! Wierd!

Ryan Klesko- I had him sign one card- beutiful sig I might add- then I handed him another one.He was about to sign it and looked up and saw that he signed for me and said "No doubles." Dont bother with multiples. STRICTLEY 1 per... Looks like he has an attitude problem, but he should accomodate. UPDATE 2003: He sifned both days he walked into the stadium. He didn't have his sideburns, so he was difficult to recognize. Signed for all 20 or so that wanted.

Barry Larkin- He is one of the best signers in the game. The first time I saw him, he was with Dunn and Griffey. They all turned us down. The 2nd time he was w/ the same two guys and he signed for us. Griff looked a lil shocked we didnt ask him first.

BRAD LIDGE- This guy is the coolest guy on the 'stros. Will soon be the best signing STAR is baseball. He will talk and sign multiples. Signs beofre EVERY game. Too cool for words to describe.

Kenny Lofton- He didnt look like he was in that good of a mood, but he signed for me and the other guy @ the hotel. Heard is typically is easy to get but may give you a hard time. Got him 2 more times when he came to the Cubs, once again he wasnt happy to sign AT ALL. He refused to sign someone's Indians 8x10, but he gave in and signed it.

Terrence Long- Cool, quiet guy, doesnt mind signing and multiples are OK.

Pedro Martinez- Usually signs for 10-15 minutes before games that he doesnt start. Likes to sign for the little kids, no multiples.

Wade Miller- Pretty cool guy. Signs before at least one away game per series (from my experiencs)and doesnt have an attitude.

MATT MORRIS- Hes cool. He'll sign if you can get his attention. Dunno bout multiples.

Mark Mulder- 2nd best signer on the A's behind Chavez. He signs were there are girls, which is everywhere. Multiples on this guy, although he may personalize.

Phil Nevin- Saw himsign for about 15 minutes before a ST 2002 game. UPDATE 2003: He signed multiples for me (2) and didn't mind doing it either.

Magglio Ordonez- Was lucky enough to get him during BP when the Sox were in town for an esxibition. No multiples.

Roy Oswalt- - One of the best, most fan friendly Astros out there. He'll talk to you, sign multiples and he does it before games that he doesnt start. Good signer on the road as well, signed for everyone in LA in 2002.

Rafael Palmiero- Pretty cool guy, if you approach him he'll sign for you unless maybe he's talking to his family. Got him again in 2002 AND 2003 before a game.

Chan Ho Park- Doesnt speak a lick of English but he signed for me at Dodgers stadium before a Sunday game. Signed a quick, OK-look'n sig. Signed before a Sat. game in 2002.

Corey Patterson- This guy is great. He'll talk and sign multiples and it looks like enjoys it too. I asked him to sign the panel of the OMLB but he signed the sweet spot.

Adam Piatt- great signer like the rest of the A's. Seems amused by his fanfare and enjoys it.Will sign multiples.

Juan Pierre- He just waited by the dugout talking to some white guy. I thought the yelling kids were wasting their time but he did come over after like 1/2 hour to sign. He seems to enjoy it.

Ben Petrick- Young star catcher signed before every Rockies home game at ST 2002. Fan favorite with people skills. Signed while in Hou in 2002.

Mark Prior- He seems to be a pretty cool guy. GHe signed for all 10 or 15 ppl that were waiting for them. He personalized @ ppl's requests. Signed my SI. 2004: Though there was a crowd I managed to get him as he walked in. Hell take the time to sign if he has the time. Seems to be a cool guy.

Brandon Puffer- He is the coolest guy in baseball. He took over former Astros Chris Truby's spot last year as the best signer. He signs for EVERYONE, before EVERY home game. @ ST 2003 I saw him sign as many as 9-10 cards for some guys.

Ivan Rodriguez- This guy likes the fans, he'll sig as long as thier isnt a big ass crowd. No multiples. Signed for me at the hotel in 2002,

Alex Rodriguez- Best signer in the league not named Brandon Puffer. He is one a few super stars who'll sign before games in the stadium. He can be allusive when it comes to the hotels. But trust me, if your one-on-one with him, you'll get em. Got him at the stadium in 2002, damn near got crushed to death. UPDATE 2003: Wasn't crushed to death this time, but was able to get him to sign my item. Always signs at least one game per series.

Pokey Reese- kind of an a-hole, I was with him one on one and I dont think he liked the card I had because he said later(which means "no").

Scott Rolen- Has a bad reputation with autograph seekers. As in the case of Brian Giles he said "I'll be back." But unlike Brian Giles he was to full of him self to take himself upon that. UPDATE 2003: He actually seemed to be in a good mood. He signed before a few games and even signed some dealer's ball on the sweet spot. Missed him though.

Jimmy Rollins-He has signed before every Phils game I've gone to in the past two yrs (only two), but he seems to have the same habits @ all away games from what I've read.

Nolan Ryan- Great guy. Will talk about anything from baseball to cows.Enjoys the fan fare and the signing. If you cant meet him in person he'll sign for like $45 through his Foundation.

TIM SALMON- Before his breakdown he was supposed to be tough to get. But he signed and personalized (if requested) everything that people shoved in his face at ST 2002. Was the one of the nicer Angles to sign in Houston in 2004. Seems to be a cool guy for real.

Richie Sexson- He was talkn to friends or family before a ST game at the stadium. So I quietly approached himand handed himtwo cards. He signed one. Not a bad guy though. Signed for maybe 15-20 minutes at that game.

Gary Sheffield- I was lucky enough to sneak into the Dodgers autograph day although I am not 14 or under and he looked likehe enjoyed signing for the little kids.I hear he is one tough cookie when it comes to every other situation. But he aint impossible. Signed his ass-off at ST in 2003, I couldnt get him tho.

Ben Sheets- Signed for the few of us waiting for him. Seemed to not enjoy it. Did not talk, had a bit of an attitude. No multiples.

Mark Teixeira- Great signer, turned no-one down. He actually enjoyed signing for everybody.

Miguel Tejada- Seems like a pretty cool guy. Like the rest of the A's he'll sign up a storm with one of the most messy autographs in the history of baseball.

Frank Thomas- Aside from A-Rod he is probably the best superstar signer you can get.He signedfor atleast 20 min. before he had to go to a team meeting. VERY personable considering his personal problems. UPDATE: Just missed him at another game in Hou '03. Signed above dugout but he skipped over me!

Michael Tucker- On again offagain goodsigner. Once he said no when I was 1 on 1 with him, the next there was a crowd of Cubs fans and he signed until hotel security told us to scram.

Billy Wagner- Still a tough auto to get at home he will sometimes sign above the bullpen @ the Juice Box after the anthem.UPDATE: signed @ ST '03 on two seperate occasions in the same game. Cont. to be a good signer.

Jarrod Washburn- very cool guy when he came to Hou with the Halos in 2k4. Signed multiples.

Jerome Williams- Was pretty cool. Signed everything for everybody.

Woody Williams- He is from Houston, so he will sign before every game he is not pitching in. Cool guy, will converse with you if you'd like.

Dontrelle Willis- He was a very cool huy. Patient with some guy stumbling with his item. Signed multiples for a few, sweetspot as well.

Dmitri Young- Got this young semi-star after a game.He was talking on his cellphone and waved me over to sign my card. Very approachable. Too bad he's with Detroit now.

Robin Yount- The locals in Tucson said they hadn't seen him sign at ST 2002 but when me and a few others were next to the dugout he signed for everyone. Seems like a nice guy,I wouldnt try multiples though. Update: He signed a couple times during the DBacks visit to Hou, he said to a kid,"I know, it's worth more their." when he was asked to sign the SS of a ball.

Carlos Zambran Todd Zeile- This quality thrid baseman made time to sign in ST 2002 for about 10 minutes or so. Seemed quiet, but did sign multiples.
