Explanation
There are rumors of Oil in the Red Sea. Yemen has some islands
on the Eritrean side of the channel, near the Bab el Mandab (Mouth
of the Red Sea). In December 1995 there was some fighting over
these. Eritrean troops tried to occupy some of the islands near
its own coast. The best solution would surely be arbitration
by the International Court.
All the frontiers were fixed in colonial times and perhaps
ought to be renegotiated, especially after Eritrean independence.
