How do I set up Outlook Express to recieve E-Mail from my hotmail account?
You can set up Outlook to fetch mail from your hotmail account very easily. The first thing you
need to do is go to your mail at Hotmail.com, and look for somthing like options, or preferances. In there you
will look for something to the effect of "Pop 3 support". You are looking for some numbers, and letters. Once
You find them copy them on a peice of paper. Open Outlook Express, go to tools>account>add>mail. There you
will follow the simple instructions on how to set that account up with Outlook. When you come to the part where
is askes you for the outgoing and incoming mail server, you will put in the corresponding text that you copied off of
Hotmail.com.
Everytime I turn my computer on it takes a very long time to load. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do
to speed it up when it starts up?
Yes, there are several things you can do to decrease the startup time of your computer. One thing you can do
is is shut down some programs that have to start up when your computer starts. You can do this by clicking on START, RUN,
then in the OPEN box, type msconfig and press enter on your keyboard. This will open the system configuration manager.
Look for and click on the STARTUP tab, you will then see a list of programs with checkmarks beside them. You can uncheck
the programs you do not need to startup when your computer starts. DO NOT UNCHECK IT IF YOU DO NOT KNOW
WHAT IT IS OR DOES! Tip: Only uncheck a couple of items at a time, restart your computer, make sure everything works
fine, then uncheck more.
I would like to know if there is any way to turn off the sound of the modem, it is VERY annoying.
Sure there is. In AOL you can go to PREFERANCES, and click on modem. In there you should see a place to turn it off.
In Internet Explorer, you can go to TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, CONNECTION, SETTINGS, PROPERTIES, CONFIGURE, there you will find a
spot to turn the volume off there.
I hate pop-up screens and i was wondering if there was a way to stop the pop-ups or block them?
Sure there is. There are MANY programs out there that will take care of popups. Popups are window adds that will
pop up either in front or behind a web page. They are VERY annoying and many developers have found ways around
these. One program that I like is Zero Popup. You can get it at www.Download.com. It's free to try, but you
will have to pay 19.95 for it eventually.
